After 9:30pm take out options in Sunnyside and LIC?
Thai Malay is a great takeout only (mostly--just 2 tables) place on Skillman around 50th that stays open late.
Good soups in Queens?
Irish Cottage, in Forest Hills off Austin St., has a good French onion soup.
Pete's Grill in Sunnyside, is this still good?
A city diner with great Mexican specialities! Try their brunch, with yummy enchilada-egg dishes, or banana-chocolate chip pancakes. Their dinner menu always has Mexican specials too. And their regular diner food is good and one step up from the usual too!

Malay Cafe -- Not worth it
Thai Malay cafe has the best takeout in Sunnyside. It's not fair to compare it to Sri--it's different and makes different food. The coconut soup is delicious, full of mushrooms and lemongrass flavor, great for a cold day. The roti with curry and other unusual appetizers/dumplings are great. Their curries are very good too. If this place was in Manhattan, it would have raves! A case of reverse Queens snobbery here.
Good soups in Queens?
The Tom Kha Gai coconut soup fromThai Malay Cafe--a takeout place on Skillman Ave. in Sunnyside--is great in the winter. Tastes of lemongrass. Also the giant udon noodle soups at Ariyoshi on Queens Blvd. are great--the Japanese have great soups.
Shhh...Great New Chinese Snack Place
i think the bao zi from under the LIRR on Main St. are the best! They're so fresh, pulled right from a large pot of boiling water. They are like soup dumplings--there's a bit of liquid when you bite into them, and you can taste the ginger--4 for $1.25!
Coconut Milk
Add it to hot or iced coffee or tea--yum! Or add it to the water you use for making rice and get coconut rice!
