Kosher Paris (St. Germain)

Need a recommendation for a kosher restaurant near-ish or in the St. Germain neighborhood. A friend wants to have a great last meal in Paris before heading back to the States. Would prefer French cuisine (which does mean foie gras) for his last dinner in Paris.

Fumio Grill & Sushi (Livingston, NJ)

Has anyone been? What's the feedback? I need a good business lunch place in that general area to replace Mosaica.

inexpensive Manhattan spot for a group of young professionals to eat, drink

Another option may be Colbeh. There's a bar area there as well as a more lounge-y feel. Though the price point is much higher.

Setting aside the discussion of kashrut certification, USQ/Penn Station area is tough. Perhaps Ben's Kosher near Penn Station is a good option since they have a sizable bar area and a full service bar which could encourage lingering. A few kosher-certified places in Curry Hill do serve a selection of drinkable beers, but they do not really have what I would consider a bar/pub ambiance.

Tiberias (on 34th St., a stones throw from Penn Station) could fit the bill as it does have a liquor license (although it may be limited) and a seating area that would do in a pinch.

London recommendations?

There is also a huge Selfridge's in Marlybone on Oxford and Duke Streets with a huge supermarket downstairs. You can by prepackaged kosher sandwiches, etc.

Not sure of the price point you are considering, but you can try Manna Catering (out of Long Island City). The owner/chef does private lessons as well.

kosher food in aruba

If you are staying at or near Palm Beach (on or near the hotel strip), there is a large supermarket within near walking distance located inside the Kong Fui Shopping Center. As an earlier poster said, a lot of US brands with familiar hechshers. If I recall correctly, I even found kiddush wine there. Didn't find it particularly expensive.

Shabbat in Paris Oct 26/27 2012

I ordered a nice meal from Etoile des Terne -- they even delivered it to my hotel before Shabbat. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate.

HaChatzer, Jerusalem

That's great. Glad I could help. I pigged out on meat there when I went - don't even remember their smoked eggplant or other vegetarian dishes.

Cheese

What about a selection from 5 Spoke. They do not sell directly, but I've seen a wide selection of its cheeses around NYC.

Whistler

I'm traveling to Whistler for a few days very soon. Any ideas for kosher food in the area (aside from Vancouver)? Are the supermarkets stocked with the basic staples?

Which Jerusalem hotel (neighborhood) for easy walks to the best food?

I highly recommend HaChatzer. I believe it is near Emek Refaim.

Vegemite [Sandwich]

I completely forgot about this thread until I saw your reply, AdinaA. I did manage to find a jar at the Australian food shop in the East Village. Still have a bit of it left. No regrets about trying it.

Kosher fishmongers - NYC?

Anyone know of a good kosher fishmonger anywhere in Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens. Gutting/scaling whole fish in my kitchen gets tiresome - would love to buy some pre-cleaned fish one of these days.

London for Shabbos

Selfridge's (on Oxford Street near the Bond Street Station) has a huge food court with a lot of kosher options, including groceries as well as pre-packaged foods, e.g., sandwiches, salads, and the like, which you can purchase prior to Shabbat.

Vegemite [Sandwich]

To answer the query of why I would want to put myself through it - I just want to try what all the "fuss" is about. Thank you everyone for the explanations and the pointers. I have been unable to locate the hechshered versions at the british produce places in the West Village. I heard there is a store in the East Village that carries some Australian products - that is going to be next stop. While it is a mission of principle now, I am reluctant to venture to 187th Street for it just yet....

NYC caterers for business cocktail receptions - "bang for the buck"

I have had good experience with Manna Catering. Can't say they are "cheap", but they are certainly elegant.

Vegemite [Sandwich]

Anyone know where to find kosher vegemite in NYC? A brief Google search reveals a small brouhaha about the kashrut status of vegemite a few years ago, but no clear picture as to its kashrut status now.

Anyone familiar with Manna Catering in NYC? What's the reputation (both gastronomically and from a kashrus perspective)? Any help would be appreciated.
