Cuban Sandwiches - Manhattan Dish of the Month August 2012

I agree. If this was a best sandwich thread, or best Cubano interpretation, I'd be interested, but I read this thread as "Best Cuban" and we should be going for authenticity here.

Momofuku Milk Bar - mixed, desserts seem best (w/ pics)

I have been here a few times. The pies and cakes are actually not that good. The frosting is like biting in to a stick of butter, which is actually not as tasty as you would think. The women who work there are horribly rude, but the men are always friendly.

The PB and blueberry cookies are always excellent. The soft serves are excellent, especially when the cereal milks are the flavors du jour. Crack pie isn't anything to write home about, the cinnamon bun pie dried out within minutes, the candy bar pie didn't have any strong flavor besides sugar.

There are better places for dessert, if you are craving cookies or soft serve, it's worth the stop. But someone really needs to tell the ladies to tone down the attitude. It's a recession, and I'd rather support a small business that appreciates my patronage.

Hearth has been one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants for years. Consistent, good quality. Can be tough to get a table on less than a week's notice.

I went about 2 months ago. It was pretty good, but I made the mistake of ordering the pork, which was completely overcooked, and I should have known better as I had seen that comment a few other times.

Wine and beer only if that matters to you.

The Redhead- A new favorite place

I have to say I wasn't blown away either. My dining companion had the fried chicken which he thought was fantastic, but my meal wasn't great, the bibb lettuce salad was overloaded with dressing and the pork with brussel sprouts was overcooked (dry pork, sulfuric sprouts). It was crowded, but they didn't rush us out at all which was nice.
