Sat night sushi in the East Village
We did do Kanoyama with no wait, better service than I'd been led to expect, and a lovely meal, though 15 East is definitely on my list to try. Thanks for the responses.

Sat night sushi in the East Village
Looking for suggestion for good sushi in the East Village on a Saturday night... likely a bit on the later side (9:30ish) for 2 and would prefer to not have a terribly long wait. Price isn't an issue. Was considering Kanoyama, as I've heard good things from multiple sources, but not sure about the wait? Guidance is appreciated.

East Village 1st date drinks
Ended up at the Immigrant, a little wine bar on 9th Street as they advertised live music that evening. Was low-key and cozy and the music was enjoyable while remaining unobstrusive. Wine list was serviceable.

Your hesitation on Angel's Share's atmosphere was also mine. Doesn't have to be super high-end but don't want a dive bar. A friend had recommended Elsa - not sure if anyone's been?

East Village 1st date drinks
To answer your questions, 8pm-ish on Monday night, food isn't necessary, would prefer cocktails and/or wine over beer.
Had thought about Angel's Share or PDT but don't have a feel for how busy they'll be at this time? Would prefer to not have to wait.

Looking for suggestions for a spot in the EV for first date drinks on a weeknight that will allow for seating and conversation at a reasonable level. Thoughts?
Recent reports on Meskel?
I really enjoy Ethiopian food and was there in February. We ordered the special chicken tibs and the meskel combo and everything was delicious! The injera was perhaps a tad cold for my liking but that's a minor complaint. Went around 8:30pm on a Friday night and we were practically the only people in the place, which makes me a bit concerned for its future...

Clinton Street Bakery for Breakfast on a Friday?
I went with 2 others about a month ago at 9am and was seated immediately. By the time we left an hour or so later, people were waiting outside.
East Village brunch
Looking for suggestions for my favorite meal of the week in the East Village. It seems everyone is offering brunch these days, but who in particular is worth trying? Especially interested in places that don't have a ridiculous wait (a lot to ask, I realize).
