John Andrew's in Egremont....really?? Need some CH's opinions please!
Well, each time we have been there had no problems with the service. Although to be honest as long as they get the order right and things don't take too long don't care about much of anytying else. Sounds like they are inconsistent though.
Chow-worthy takeout options -- Great Barrington MA
Camille's Market is a new Italian deli-type place that does that sort of thing, they have all sorts of meat and pasta and cold options for groups.
It might also be worth checking out Bizalion, a French-type cafe but I am not entirely sure if they do catering.
Restaurants in or near Lenox
Yes, we have enjoyed Alta every time we have eaten there. Don't let one person's experience dissuade you from going somewhere (or the opposite).
Friday night in Great Barrington without a reservation?
Really at this point in the fall you should be ok at most places without a reservation. Berkshires are an early-eating kind of place so even on a Friday now that summer is over 8 pm should be no problem.
Agree in G. Barrington itself Cafe Adam is probably your best bet for good food. Or if you are willing to drift up to W. Stockbridge you could go to Rouge and eat at the bar.
The Berkshires with a baby
A few if you want more casual -
- Pittsfield - Spice Dragon (pan-Asian), Baba Louies (wood fired pizza, location in G. Barrington)
- Lanesboro - Old Forge (massive beer list, above average pub food)
- Lenox - Fin (Sushi)
- Great Barrington - Rt. 7 Grill (BBQ), Bizalion (lunch only, French cafe with counter service)
Would stay away from Dakota, we brought our baby there but she did not make the food any better. Agree that Cafe Adam should be ok especially early.

Berkshire's Best Dinner Spot?
If you are in New Marlborough would definitely go to Old Inn on the Green. Agree Cafe Adam and Brix are very good. Also Chez Nous in Lee, or Rouge West Stockbridge. In October mid-week you would probably be ok getting a table at Nudel.
recent experience with Rt 7 grill in Great Barrington?
My opinion - overall favorable.
The BBQ is not the best ever but is very good. They have a newish chef, since then some of the things I liked are no longer on the menu but some of the other items have improved in quality. They have had some really tasty non-BBQ specials and appetizers. Nice selection of beers and wines. Nice atmosphere.
My biggest problem is I think it's kind of expensive for what it is, good BBQ as you know does not have to cost a lot. I don't really agree with any of the Yelp reviews which seem to attract the set of people who really love or really hate the place, as usual the truth is in between.
suggestions for fun, off-the-beaten-path Berkshires dinner?
Usually I would agree with you, but can you seriously expect something different from a place called "Gypsy Joynt" ?
suggestions for fun, off-the-beaten-path Berkshires dinner?
There is a tendency on these boards to declare food either wonderful or awful. Sounds like Dream Away would be the way to go. Is the food innovative and spectacular? No. Is it decent and tasty? Yes. And it's definitely fun, off the beaten path, and unique to the Berkshires.
Otherwise would consider Rouge (W. Stockbridge), Rt. 7 grill (G. Barrington), Stagecoach Tavern (Sheffield), Old Forge (Lanesboro).
Saturday lunch near Lenox
No, not good. I am not quick to complain, but the one time we went for dinner it was a pretty bad experience. A ravioli special consisted of (still) frozen ravioli - not only was it clearly not made by them but they couldn't even successfully heat it up. We ordered wine but it did not arrive until after we were done eating because the bar was "busy."
A year or so later we tried to stop in for lunch, and although there were plenty of tables the hostess told us we probably didn't want to eat there because a large group was coming soon and no one would be able to pay attention to us. So we didn't.
However I read something about new management or ownership or something so I guess it's possible it's different now.
Saturday lunch near Lenox
Agree with Once upon a Table and Alta. Would cross Sullivan Station and Michael's off your list.
Only you can say if Great Barrington is too far, but it takes about 20 minutes from Tanglewood. If you consider it, suggest Cafe Adam, Xicotencatl, or Bizalion.
Best Burger in Providence??
What are you talking about? Pretty much any neighborhood with places you would want to go to is as safe as anywhere to walk at night. You're probably more likely to crash your car driving than have any issues walking. And what did that have to do with the original question anyway?
Lenox, MA - baby-friendly recs?
Maybe I'm more tolerant of babies than average? But at Fin too have seen babies there several times without incident.
Lenox, MA - baby-friendly recs?
I would have agreed with you about Nudel except more than once we have seen actual babies there (earlier in the evening) and did not seem out of place.
Lenox, MA - baby-friendly recs?
In Lenox itself Fin (Sushi) or Frankies (red sauce Italian) would be baby friendly.
Possibly also Nudel, although it is kind of small so if crowded might not be easy to find somewhere to put the baby.
Out on Rt. 7 there is Dakota Steakhouse (a local Outback-like chain), very child-friendly but with the flaw of food not being that great.
Lenox for Memorial Day Weekend-recs??
Agree exactly with breadfan. Also Brix in Pittsfield although haven't been since chef changed.
For lunch spots there is Haven in Lenox, Cakewalk in Lee both of which are counter service, not ultra cheap but I guess not bad compared to NYC. If you are into beer you could also head up to the Old Forge in Lanesboro for lunch which also has some good if casual food.
ALPAMAYO RESTAURANT in Lee - Anyone Been?
I would say it is ok. Went there once, food was pretty good. Service was really bad but not the fault of the server, there was only one for the whole place, and no one to help her even with clearing tables and pouring water and such and it was very busy that night. That was only a couple weeks after they opened though so maybe that is better now.
Since then have gotten takeout a few times. The peruvian chicken is good. Other stuff has been good vs ok depending on what you get. It's worth a try if you don't have to travel too far to get to it but not amazing or anything.
Sunday lunch in or near Pittsfield?
I know it is not that popular on these boards but Jae's Spice (pan-Asian) in Pittsfield could be worth a try, I tend to think it is better for lunch than dinner.
Who has the best pizza in Berkshire County??
Timothy's is still there. Most of their food is not bad but I really don't like their pizza, although I am biased against the greek style.
Trattoria Rustica- Worst meal ever?
I don't know that I would say worst meal ever, but have been there twice and disappointed both times. I don't think the food was actually bad, but not anywhere near what you would expect for the price. Some of it felt like you could make at home which is not always a bad thing in the right atmosphere but not with the upscale impression they are trying to convey. I wouldn't go back (unless someone else is paying).
I guess the Berkshires aren't the best for italian, is there anything that's good that I'm missing? Thought Cafe Lucia was pretty good not great (except for the osso bucco which was great), Mazzeo's and Frankies are decent enough but not really destination type places.

Who has the best pizza in Berkshire County??
Afraid it will be hard to help much as the selection is rather poor.
I do like Baba Louie's but it's not really a replacement for "regular" pizza.
Arizona Pizza is sort of acceptable.
Hot Tomatoes in Pittsfield is better than most around here but calling it "good" might be a stretch.
Sorry that's about the best I can do.

Not Happy with Jae's Spice - Pittsfield, MA
I can't say I really agree or disagree, I've been there several times for lunch and dinner, and while sometimes I leave wishing it was a little better I don't think I ever though it was really bad either. Some entrees have been very good, some not as good, sushi is not the best ever but fresh and not the worst either. Lunch there can be a pretty good deal. Maybe I should expect more consistency although I think it's more simply that I like some of their dishes better than others. Service I've never had a problem with, but I'm not that picky about such things as long as they bring me what I ordered. I guess what I'm saying is that while it may not be worth a special long trip to go there I still think it's worth it now and then.
Anyone tried their new Shabu restaurant next door? - Not sure if it's open yet.
Stockbridge area places for lunch
There are dozens of restaurants within 15 mile radius which would include Great Barrington, Lenox, Pittsfield so would be easier to answer if more specific.
That being said could consider Once Upon a Table in Stockbridge itself, or maybe Cafe Adam in Great Barrington.
Seafood you won't have much luck, there is Salmon Run in Lee which is quite decent but atmosphere is nothing special.

Also have not tried, but it is available (pricey) at White Horse Tavern in Newport.

Dinner and New Year's in the Berkshires
Forgot about Jae's Spice - this would probably be a good bet for a lively but casual New Years' Eve spot. The food can be variable, have had it range from very good to just ok.
Dinner and New Year's in the Berkshires
Agree that food at red lion not that great. Chez Nous is really good but would not be a "party" atmosphere, more quiet and romantic as suggested.
Bogies and Mission Tapas about as far apart as you can get atmosphere-wise. Bogies is I guess kind of an old school steak and potato and salad bar kind of place, would be near the bottom of my list for young people looking for something festive. Mission on the other hand has tasty and interesting if not exactly authentic tapas-type food, it's pretty small but likely to have live music with more of a "hip" atmosphere (if such a thing is possible in the Berkshires).

Lee/Lennox/Becket/Chester/Otis Recommendations
In Lee the best restaurant is Chez Nous but that is not really casual. In Lenox Nudel can be very good and is different from the usual. Otis/Becket not much out there although there is always Dream Away Lodge in Becket, food is pretty good but it's more about the atmosphere.
Don't know where you're starting from but if you are in Lee Stockbridge/W. Stockbridge is only 5-10 minutes away with some more options and even G. Barrington is really only 15-20 minutes from Lee not 40.

restaurants near Hancock (Jiminy Peak) with 7 y.o., parents and grandparents
There are a couple dozen places in Lenox, if you search the board you will get all different opinions but personally I think Jonathan's (bistro-type food, on Rt. 7) and Alta (wine bar in "downtown" Lenox) are good.
Maybe I am just having a blank moment but not understanding your abbreviations - DS, asp, MP?
