Hi there

Our favorite meals were the following:

Talkeetna Road House - old time road house
Smoke Shack Train Wreck - dive-ish
Salmon Bake - rustic, local
The Saltry - fantastic boat ride on The Danny J out to this delicious local spot in a beautiful setting
FYI - we did not much care for The Double Musky. Too many people. Someone we met on the plane home said that Jack Spratt was their favorite meal of their trip.

Safe travels. Enjoy a fantastic time. We loved Alaska.

Hi -
We are about to spend 10 days in Alaska for the first time. I have done some reading and would love input and suggestions on some dining options. We love local, regional dining experiences, high, low, dives and shacks welcome. Except for Talkeetna, we are two nights in each place.

Some thoughts so far:

Anchorage
Simon & Seaforts or Jenn's for our first night?
Sack's or Spennard Roadhouse or Gwennie's for our second night? (I know, all very different)
Reindeer dogs at the hot dog stand

Talkeetna
Lunch at Talkeetna Road House
Dinner at West Rib

Any suggestions please for a great local place to stop for lunch on our way back to Anchorage? In Palmer perhaps? We'll be in a car.

Seward
Lunch at Smoke Shack Train Wreck
Dinner at Salmon Bake
Need another dinner - Ray's? Chinooks? Something else?

Drive from Seward to Homer
Would love lunch suggestions as we'll be doing this drive in both directions.

Washington DC: Suggestions for a group of 17?

I am looking for restaurant suggestions for a group of 17 people that will be in Washington the first weekend in April for a family reunion. We'll have a few kids and 2 vegans in our group. We are staying in Georgetown (but don't need to stay in that area) and will be eating at least 2 dinners and a brunch together. Would like something interesting but not too expensive. I think we need to reserve soon because of the size of the group plus the holiday week so would be grateful for suggestions.
Some family members have suggested:
Rosa Mexicano
Jaleo
Old Ebbitt Grill for brunch
Neyla
Zeds

Driving from FLA to NYC - regional food suggestions?

We'll be driving from Ft. Myers Florida to New York City between Christmas and January 3 and would like to plan our trip around wonderful food stops. Can be high or low end. Love regional specialties and shacks as well as fancier places. Mostly want to take advantage of experiences we can only have while in the neighborhood. Would also welcome recommendations for a fantastic place to eat/celebrate New Years eve along the way. Thanks for your input!

Lunch between NYC and Saratoga Springs??

Thanks for all the great ideas. New World looks terrific but unfortunately it appears that they no longer serve lunch - only dinner.

Lunch between NYC and Saratoga Springs??

We're driving to Saratoga next weekend from NYC and would love suggestions for a great place to stop for lunch along the way. Not looking for fancy necessarily - just local, hole in the wall and swell. Crab shack, regional specialty/favorite kind of place. Thanks for your input.
