The Office Goat's Profile
Where are some of your favorite places to have lunch in SD?
We ordered a baked goat cheese there by accident; turns out it's huge and delicious!
Best San Diego Mexican Food?
The last couple times I went, the window was shut. But I could have just gone at the wrong hours/days. I did get to take my son a few years ago, so that makes 3 generations of our family that snacked there. :-)

Oh, by the way, Sunday at El Take It Easy we had the "brunch" at 3:45pm and it was one of the best meals we've had at ETIE. The carnitas trio, the mariscos scramble and the multiple forms of pork belly all rocked.
But maybe the best moment was just the tortillas and the hot sauce: I got flashbacks to my dad taking me to the Museum of Man in the early 1970s when the lady would make corn tortillas (with a dab of hot sauce if you wanted).

We try to use the T.E.G. in Temecula as the meal break when driving through on the 15 on the way to or from some not-Temecula place.

"and many of these items can, indeed, be found in other cities in the U.S., but not in San Diego"
I've had more than one of those items at El Tejate in Escondido.
San Diego New Places Opening Thread, Part Deux
Thanks folks! We stopped by last night. I have to say it was pretty tasty, and I'm looking forward to eating my way through that menu. Last night we tried the beef stroganoff yummies, the corned beef sandwich and the short rib poutine. Next time I'll have to get a salad to balance everything out.
It's nice to see something in the neighborhood that fills that narrow restaurant gap between WineSellar and Habaneros.

Do you know (even roughly) the hours at Wich Addiction (lunch/dinner what days)? Their website wasn't too forthcoming. Looks like they might be still trying to figure that out.
Taquerias/Burritos in Sunset Cliffs
I haven't been in a long time, but I think Tommy's Tex-Mex (which isn't really tex-mex, but it is a taco shop) is still in operation and on Voltaire at the edge of OB, not far from Sunset Cliffs.
Please comment on my dining list for my 5-day trip to SD
If you go to Alforon, be sure to get at least one order of the chicken tawook and the aysh (sp?) for dessert. I haven't had anyting bad there, but those two dishes are standouts. Nice people, too.
Our family's three top-visited restaurants in the general vicinity are (in no particular order) Alforon, the Linkery and El Take it Easy.
There's a place called Lion's Share, downtown, that I've been meaning to try. No idea if it's good, but it's got potential, though not cheap. http://lionssharesd.com/menu.html Open late, too.
Kearny Mesa area dining
My kids both love Yakyudori Ramen, but it is no fun trying to explain to a 5YO why we can't eat there because it's too crowded and half the restaurant is already reserved for the night even though she can see empty tables. Pick your visiting times (or the kids' moods) wisely.
It's hard enough explaining to her that they will not put her beloved "boily egg" in the ramen if it's to-go.
Great news re: old Police station
Oh **** me.
Why couldn't it be a Yakyudori offspring moving into a place that held more than 16 customers at a time?

Well, something appears to finally be going into Crescent Heights' old space at 655 West Broadway. The application to serve alcohol notice in the window said something like "Sora Restaurant Group."
The Soras that came up from searches were either sushi places or italian. Anyone know anything about this one?
Fresh Poke to go?
Last time I was there(a while ago) they had two flavors: regular and spicy. What's the third, or is there a rotation?
Yummy, casual places like Urban Solace that are new to me?
Urge Gastropub in RB if you happen to be stuck on the 15 corridor?
BEST ETHNIC & BEST UNDER $10!
Also not PL, but I'll add the chicken tawook (sp?) "flatbread" at Alforon.
Holiday Tamales
Ahh, back in the day, Liz from Ancira used to come by my work with tamales...
Last night, Linkery had rabbit and turkey tamales for sale. $3 a pop. We ate the rabbit ones tonight - tasty! Pastured turkey ones will be consumed either tomorrow or tues. I don't know how long supplies will last (or if they will have other varietes), but imagine they'll be on sale for at least a few more days. Might have to go back for thirds...
Cheap eats in San Diego area for two broke traveling students
You forgot:
Carlsbad
Pizza Port
Also, when riding by San Elijo Lagoon, just before Solana Beach (if heading south) Bull Taco is hiding in the beach campground and makes for an easy visit by bike. Not the cheapest of taco shop eats, but pretty good.
Underbelly
Bobbing for ramen sounds painful.
Following no ketchup, no vodka, no spoon, I think the zenith of hipster restaurants would be "no food," yes?
Where do you source your Thanksgiving turkey in San Diego and what is your favorite cooking method for it?
I posted one!
Edit: We're not doing it this Thanksgiving (letting Stone do it all this time), but I'm seriously considering picking up one in December. If anyone does it this month, I want to read the report!

I just saw this on the news last night:

So apparently we do have at least one more option besides Mr. Womach for local pastured birds.
San Diego Beer Week Chow-worthy dinners
I think we're going to head to the Linkery for the Green Flash Smokeout on Sunday.

Any good "tortas ahogadas" here in San Diego?
I get this treatment every time at Sab e Lee. I order 9, friends order 5, theirs is hotter...
If I'm not hiccupping, it's not hot, dangit.
What non-perishable, non alcoholic beverage would you say is unique, or associated with San Diego?
Non-perishable, non-alcoholic liquid associated with San Diego ... sea water? Oh wait, beverage...
Al Pastor/Mexican Food in NW San Diego
I usually get my street-size al pastor tacos at Habaneros, which is in the FreshNEasy/Bevmo shopping center at Mira Mesa Blvd and Camino Santa Fe. Not because they are the best anywhere (though they are good enough), but because they are closest to my house by miles.
They also have gobernador tacos now, that's fairly recent. Menu is here (the best tacos are under "specials" not "tacos"):

Thanks! My daughter may now conditionally remove you from her "list" as long as the chocolate sauce is somewhere. ;-)

Well, just to update in the name of completeness, we went last weekend and there were no more churros to be had on the menu at El Take It Easy. Don't know when/if they are coming back (the menu there is in a constant state of flux).
My daughter was ... irritated.

Where to cater Thanksgiving meal from in Carlsbad?
I don't know if they are planning on doing it again this year, but last year Stone (Bistro) did a buy-in-advance/pick up TGiving morning full (or partial, or vegetarian, if you wanted) turkey dinner with trimmings and dessert that was absolutely delicious.
Edit: Found the link to last year's one:
"Our talented kitchen crew is cooking up delicious take-home turkey dinners using organic and local ingredients, so you can relax and enjoy time with your family. And for every dinner ordered, we're providing another complete dinner to CASA DE AMPARO , who will distribute them to families who wouldn't otherwise be able to have a turkey dinner this year.
Just think, get a break from cooking, enjoy a meal made with locally grown organic produce, and provide a dinner to a family in need. Now that's a dinner to feel great about"
