Yes there are, plenty.

Arrrgh! Please help settle tipping argument!!!

I want to eat where you eat. Other than guacamole and maybe Steak Diane- I haven't seen any of those you desserts you mentioned in years, at least not prepared tableside.

Favorite burger for $5 or less?

That's kind of pushing it- I doubt most people would even know there is anything printed on the bottom of the cups.

Lunch in Costa Mesa with kids - rec needed

If you are OK with convenience and competent, but not mind-blowing food, check out the brunch menu at Leatherby's right at Segerstrom. It's part of the Patina Group.

I have not been for brunch, but dinner many times and it is enjoyable, nice ambience and one-stop for parking and no worries about rushing to the theater, especially with Memorial weekend traffic.

You're taking me back to my USC days and midnight burger runs.

It took 2 days to get the chili smell out from under my nails (with a cuticle brush), not to mention the car!

McDonald's Destroyed the Gut Bacteria of a College Kid in 10 Days

Didn't Morgan Spurlock already do this years ago?

Thumbs down on brunch at Taco Maria

Holiday meals out usually are abbreviated menus, not "special" and more money.

I think Mother's Day ranks as one of the worst other than Valentine's.

However, if I am dining in a restaurant on one of those days- I do ask about the menu beforehand if it's not available online.

A one minute convo would have saved you almost $200.

Arrrgh! Please help settle tipping argument!!!

Same here, and I'm lost with those not living in the US being so obsessed with the subject.

It's not like they wouldn't have a general idea of how to tip after dozens or hundreds of threads.

Arrrgh! Please help settle tipping argument!!!

It's still not much of a tip difference, whether the tax is 5% or 10%.

Recommend a "casual" (or at least "casual-ish") steakhouse?

Same with Prime, although I guess if you are a high roller (or someone famous) they might be more lax.

Personally, if I'm spending the kind of money high-end steakhouses charge I don't care to dress like I just left the pool.

How do you split the bill and tip evenly?

I'm on my phone and can't figure out the link, but just Google for HuffPo tipping hotel maids if you are interested.

More tip than don't- you have to subtract the % that don't stay in hotels and were polled.

LOL, well if you don't stay in hotels (doesn't apply) he's in the majority ;).

How do you split the bill and tip evenly?

Read in a HuffPo article from Sept. that 46% tip, the rest either don't or it doesn't apply- so no, you aren't in the minority.

I wouldn't dream of not leaving a daily tip here in the US.

Arrrgh! Please help settle tipping argument!!!

Nicely stated.

Great Italian food in OC?

The closest I've found was Antonello's, but same as the other poster- if I'm going to drive the half hour to get there, would rather just keep going to LA.

Haggens replacing Vons in Laguna Niguel, CA

I guess because of the Alberston's/Vons merger, they are taking advantage that some stores need to be divested.

Good luck to them, because I already have Gelson's, Whole Foods, Sprouts as well as all of the usual within 10 minutes of my house.

Cheesecake factory

I used to eat at the original in the late 70s/early 80s when they had a salad bar and much smaller menu and even then the cheesecakes were made off-site.

Elegant way to cover food outdoors?

I bought some years ago at Williams-Sonoma (could not find them on the site) that are pretty and colored mesh in different sizes. If you Google mesh food covers there are lots of choices.

Glass/plastic/acrylic seems like it's inviting fingerprints.

I would definitely check out my local party rental too.

Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri Return In New Food Network Series

Oh, people make remarks about Ina's clothes as well and another website refers to her blouses as "shents" (shirt + tent).

So agree with pretty much everything you said nothing.

Nope, only CM (across from what was then a nice Edwards theater) and after the family sold, there was one for awhile in Irvine.

Open, diced raw onion. Worked at one for 3 years in the late 70s/early 80s, besides eating at every West Coast location many times.

My favorite, and you had to request the onions cooked or they came raw, which was fine with me.

As was posted previously, the 3 same items are $10 difference in price- whichever one you like better.

If I'm paying $17.50 I will be most likely be bypassing both of these spots and having a meal at a nice sit-down spot, not "fast food" or "fast casual".

Another tipping question?

I thought when this 3% surcharge started, for healthcare (and there was a long thread on the LA board) at places like Lucques- the customer could request that it be removed.

Is this not the case in your experience?

Personally, it doesn't really bother me and I tip along the lines as you.

Also, Donald Bren owner of The Irvine Co. controls many areas and he likes his architecture like his women- under 40 and fake-looking.

That's wonderful. She gave me a signed book, and I had to buy another copy to keep the original pristine.

Market Shoppers: Get out of the quick check out line. You have too many items...

I've now asked at all 3 of my regular groceries, and none of them (managers or checkers) can say anything.

The nicest and most expensive of the 3 always has enough checkers on hand that it doesn't make any difference.
