PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

Dear God, don't mention the ACA surcharge- this thread will go on for months:)

PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

Ipse replied to someone who was saying the restaurant was saving money by you not dining in- not the difference between to-go and delivery.

Also, the place I most often use has their own trucks- so that would explain the restaurant getting the delivery fee (to me, at least).

PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

Some people just keep posting without even reading a reply, ipse.

As I said upthread, many of the pizza spots in my area are takeout or delivery only, due to crazy expensive rents- maybe a few tables, but no service.

I don't understand how someone can claim "scam", when all you have to do is ask what the charge is before ordering.

And this is coming from someone who wouldn't deliver a pizza in Toronto for $1000, lol!

PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

Now I'm kind of curious, so Thursday is pizza delivery night for me and I'll ask the driver. Delivery is $4 and I always tip $5.

This place does have a fleet of trucks, so I know drivers aren't using their own cars like some of the other places.

They still have to pay the driver, and gas isn't free.

The only bad thing about Frankie's is the ventilation system and cigarette smoke. It can get unbearable.

PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

You can't ask how much the charge is to deliver when you call? Seems pretty simple to me.

PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

Don't know where you live, but here ALL of them I've used do charge- and many of the places are take-out or delivery only.

There is no "valuable real estate", other than the fact their rent must be crazy here in Laguna.

I saw Liam Hemsworth at Patys, and to be honest I wouldn't care how interesting he was or if he could even speak for that matter:)

She's in her 70s and a mess. Just got a new Corvette though-she was at Canter's last week.

Andrea at Pelican Hill (Newport Beach) -- Worth the fuss??

Yes. I like the risotto in the cheese wheel they do.

You seriously think In N Out should be sweating bullets? That is just laughable.

One of these threads had me craving a double-double last weekend and there was a line out the door at 4:30 in the afternoon.

Still only took me 10 minutes to get my food.

+1, and even later than the 70s.

PIZZA DELIVERY CHARGES

It never would occur to me that a pizza place wouldn't include a delivery charge.

I tried quite a few after my last move before finding someplace I liked ( all had a charge) and it's $4.

Printed on their takeout menu.

Yep.

6 a.m. bars in L.A . What's left ?

That's why I haven't tried the Sherman Oaks Hamlet- it can never be like my great times at Sunset.

Well that explains a lot. Had not been to MD in years and had a Big Mac craving. Lettuce wilted to green goo, fries barely warm.

Would rather go to a place like INO where everything is made fresh and employees are paid a very decent wage.

What are some over-rated L.A. restaurants to you? Why, specifically? Only one each!

I think the 7 upvotes is because it is the most accessible of any of the places on this list so far, with the exception of Burger King.

As for "people come from all over the world" and "feel let down"- how would you know?

I've got friends who can barely make it from the airport to stop at INO, so any evidence of this can't be more than anecdotal.

Bucatini Pasta

That's odd, just got back from the absolute worst grocery in my area ( stop only when in a bind) and they had DeCecco bucatini on sale for $2.50.

It's all around here in SoCal.

Westside restaurant where you can watch the Oscars?

Why choose the area with traffic hell? It's like going to eat in WeHo on Halloween.

Quite the slight of hand as he's also hosting the TV show.

Get them a hotel room and they can order room service.

does silence on an rsvp mean they aren't coming ?

So agree, believe me I speak up as well (and listen) and have had the same circle of friends forever.

Some times though, in my mind there are things that cross the line. Not feeling 100%, can't handle it? Be honest.

Dead to me.

I thought twice before posting this, but figured it might give some a little perspective- or not.

I couldn't even get RSVPs for my little brother's funeral.

It is family and church tradition to have a lunch after the service. Unfortunately, the only available room could seat 100.

I sent out a very specific email to family and friends with the schedule (including hotel where rooms were pre-paid).

I still spent hours on the phone (uh, sorry I have to get off the phone now- need to pick out my brother's casket I'm thinking) and finally just ran out of steam.

We lost some $$$ on the hotel rooms and between the no-shows at the lunch and the no replies but turned up, it worked out close enough.

I will say that a couple of my friends are friends no longer.

It's great with raw tomato sauce during the summer.
