Really? I've never heard that before. Did you notice it seems like she has lots of teeth as well?

Subway made 2 mistakes that are destroying its business

I think they make the plainest, most boring bread in an attempt to make the wafer-thin cold cuts stand out to have at least some flavor.

Still like eating a bread sandwich- I never taste anything.

That last paragraph sounds kind of sad.

Offering alternative meals to children - yay or nay

I had no interaction with my father until I was an adult. Our first breakfast together, we both ordered pancakes and over-easy eggs. We both put the eggs on the top of the pancakes and didn't use any syrup.

As time went on, I discovered we both loved coffee ice cream and hated fish along with many other similar likes/dislikes.

I think that stuff must be like cat pee then. The only way to get rid of the smell is to move.

Subway made 2 mistakes that are destroying its business

After reading your post, I thought of the 2 places I go to most for sandwiches and why I don't go to Subway anymore.

One is an upscale grocery deli- for $11.99 I can get a real roast turkey and brie sandwich on a La Brea baguette, with 2 sides that include wonderful salads. So yes, it's a more $$$ but no sales tax.

The other is just a regular grocery store, with Dietz and Watson sandwiches, $3.99. 8oz, with protein and cheese on good breads.

I guess my point is, I can find better than Subway even at a lower price point if I don't want to spend more money.

I wish I had taken a picture of the "salad" I bought in desperation a few months ago. Watery lettuce and veggies more flaccid than a 90 year old man.

"Good enough" isn't for me. Fortunately I can spend a few extra bucks to avoid Subway, McDonald's and other pitiful excuses for food.

Favorite food items at Disneyland (ex. Club 33)?

I was going to rec the same thing. Getting in and out of the park is a pain- there is lots at DTD. One of my favorites is Uva Bar (there is a round circular indoor area under Catal restaurant, same owner).

Family friendly and decent prices- I like the lamb burger and they do have a children's menu.

And beer selection too.

Why no pork at Pick Up Stix or Panda Express?

They are more like rib bits, maybe 2 inches long at most.

I'm going to email both chains and see what kind of response I get.

The nice thing that Disney finally did was redo their site with all food spot menus and their prices. Before, they would have a "range".

The fried chicken is the best deal in the park, I think $15.99. If you don't mind eating kinda late, you can time it sitting at a table watching the fireworks.

Why no pork at Pick Up Stix or Panda Express?

That it actually what prompted my question. The place I order from for delivery has many pork items and I'm living in southern CA.

Yet at the 2 biggest chains, only one recently introduced item- the ribs at Panda. They do have an $1.50 uncharge, but so do some of their other items like shrimp and beef.

Why no pork at Pick Up Stix or Panda Express?

Thanks- I guess that makes sense for the fast food places.

I am looking at the menu of the one Chinese restaurant in my area that delivers and there is an entire pork section of the menu with the usual stuff, plus pork added to many other items like Won Ton soup and fried rice.

That is a shortened version of the article I mentioned in my OP and still doesn't answer my question.

McDonald's Will Toast Buns Longer For Hotter Burgers

Why no pork at Pick Up Stix or Panda Express?

Both of these spots are convenient for me, and I noticed that neither of them really serve pork dishes.

PUS used to have one item, pork dumplings that are no longer on their menu.

I did a little digging, and there was an article on the chef who creates the Panda Express dishes and is retiring after 30 years. His last was a pork rib- they are pretty good.

I have racked my brain (such as it is) and cannot figure out why 2 popular chains don't do more, or any pork.

Ideas? Ipse?

What trends do you see in the preparation of foods and drinks in restaurants?

Too bad my grandmother isn't still alive so I could let her know she was decades ahead of a trend. Good bread made from scratch and used to make toast:)

That's kind of pushing it- I doubt most people would even know there is anything printed on the bottom of the cups.
