What is the appeal of Yusho?

Actually, you brought Giada into this thread.

What is the appeal of Yusho?

If I didn't see all your reviews, I would think that you would be missing out on a lot of good places to eat with those standards.

I guess it only applies to Giada?

It's a shame that the Eating Las Vegas guide was not a viable option to continue in some form. I really enjoyed the 3 differing opinions.

I'm still pissed at John Curtis for saying Bradley Ogden was serving the best food the suburban valley has ever seen (not exact quote, but close), when in fact he knew Bradley and Bryan were just leasing out their name.

I assumed Bryan would be cooking- stupid me and out $175 for a completely inedible meal.

It closed after less than six months.

And why would that be?

Tipping during happy hour

I have known many people who worked in food service jobs through college and grad or law school.

Most are now working in climate controlled rooms.

FN quest for ratings: we are more likely to see Giada De Laurentiis or Bobby Flay cooking “ethnic foods” than we are to see a brown person cooking them.

And don't forget The Hearty Boys- the first NFNS winners.

Who do you follow on the Los Angeles board, and why?

Maudie mostly. She has similar tastes to mine and if she likes a place, I've either been or want to go.

Thanks!

Taking my kid to visit USC end of next week. What's a cool

Well, if they are all at Tommy's or Philippe's it's nice to know some things haven't changed in 35 years.

Last Hamburger Hamlet Standing (Sherman Oaks) Bites the Dust.

That's my thought as well. If the recipe was such a guarded secret that one couldn't even order it to go, why would it be given out?

I worked at HH in the mid 70s, and many items (besides the bisque) were delivered from the commissary- the chicken salad and rice pudding were two.

I'm wondering if Marilyn did use the recipe from her book back in the beginning. After all, that was written long after the Lewis family sold, so I'm not sure what "P.R." benefit she would get out of lying.

Giada at The Cromwell - Opening Night review (long)

Thanks for the detailed review. I missed the opening by a couple days and am really looking forward to trying Giada's on my next visit.

If I were you, I wouldn't feel the need to defend your experience from posters who haven't even tried the restaurant- but that's just me.

The Sterling Brunch

The Perrier Jouet Champagne is what would entice me- I don't eat enough to make any buffet worthwhile, but I can certainly drink my moneys worth:)

So sad that the Lewis legacy of over 60 years is just about gone.

Chicago foodie to Vegas--steakhouse help?

Heritage has been one of my favorites since it opened at the end of last summer- I've been every couple of months since.

Great steaks, seasonal sides and a not overly trendy atmosphere.

If they are eating Neapolitan-style pizza, it probably says they don't want grease running down their arms.

Be thankful they didn't stay 2 weeks with an unruly child and fish staples out of the trunk of their car!

No salt on the restaurant table, again.

No sh*t. What if I want to add salt to my dessert?

Slightly salt-dusted caramel ice cream.

Pizza delivery/take-out vs. eating it THERE

I can crisp it up a bit back in the oven and it certainly beats a DUI.

How long to cook stuffed pork chops?

Well, I always tended to overcook and these take all the guesswork out. I've got 2, one for the gas grill as well.

So much easier and efficient than opening the oven to check with the older kind or even a regular digital.

Invest in a wireless digital thermometer. There is no correct time, only temperature.

James- I do the same thing unless the door opens out with no handle, which is a solution to the problem for me. More places should do that.

What is the hottest / hippest / cutting edge food of this moment in time?

I've been seeing lots of restaurants with dandelion lately.

To think, I'm eating what my great-grandparents came to this country so they didn't have to.
