The Griddle Cafe at SLS - the food lives up, the service needs work.

Kevin H is KevinEats- he hasn't posted on CH in a couple of years.

Kevin is a different guy.

Why oh why did you not use my host(ess) gift at your dinner party?

Not the only thing that was saucy:)

If you have a break room at work, leave them out on the table.

But why would you need to emphasize the fact that you are a straight guy? 90% plus of the world, male and female are straight.

There is a reason Anderson Cooper came out in a statement (Don't want to get any more OT here), which many who aren't gay may not understand.

What do you think about 'mandatory' Valet Parking?

Oops, it's the medical building next door.

I have never eaten at _______ and I never will!

Believe me, I would like to go to those kind of places as well.

Unfortunately, I don't speak Chinese and have had uniformly bad experiences unless I'm with someone who is Chinese.

Not the one other I looked at. The little girl was crying in some of the pictures.

Your favorite meatloaf bread filler

I use fresh, because my favorite recipe calls for 4 slices of bread to make the crumbs- and the rest of the bread goes for the meatloaf sandwiches in the days after, which is the best part.

I've used panko as well in a pinch.

Agreed. Maybe Food Network can forget Cowboy Lenny and have a series where 4 year old kids eat at upscale restaurants.

Sounds like a ratings winner to me.

Advice for my Mum on printing her own recipe book

Heck, I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night and this was awhile ago:)

The one I did was a combo of recipes, food and family pics.... so it wasn't just a cook book.

Advice for my Mum on printing her own recipe book

We did a recipe book for my MIL's 80th birthday and used Shutterfly. One thing I did do, was include photos of her recipes that were written in her own hand- the legible ones obviously.

If I had waited 2 months anticipating a meal at TFL and was seated next to this group- the manager would have been called.

My last dinner there was $1200, the most we've ever spent on one meal- and it wasn't to witness a photo shoot.

I have never eaten at _______ and I never will!

Can't say never, because there are work situations where I have no choice.

I let my group pick the spot for BD lunches, and if they want Olive Garden, Black Angus or some other place I wouldn't normally go to, it's just one meal.

What to do when the RESTAURANT cancels your reservations?

I can't imagine that they wouldn't be able to take care of you after having to cancel.

If I strike out on Open Table, I call directly, use Amex concierge or the hotel. I've never not been able to get in anyplace in 30 years.

I'm just speaking about LV.

In my area, the basic+ includes FN and HGTV- which was why I asked.

Next Food Network Star -finale (spoilers)

I agree in principle, but how do you do that? Cancel cable when the channels are included in the package (at least with my provider).

Or just not watch, but still pay?

Leave Guy Fieri alone: Why he has nothing to do with the Food Network’s decline

To me, this business model doesn't seem all that wise in the long term. If I was president of FN, I'd be worried about the fact that they rely so much on Guy. God forbid something happens to him.

And to be chasing the few thousand "rich" women that don't have/use DVRs for your revenue?

As for Justin, I was as disappointed with him not getting a series as when I found out House Hunters was so manipulated.

missing Kate Mantilini.....

Just spoke with my friend and he said while most of his regulars haven't found a replacement, many are going to Craig's and Café D'Etoile. Haven't been to either, so just passing along the info.

Don't want to provide the links here, because they aren't just about food, but check out Alison Martino (Al Martino's daughter) on FB. She also writes for LA Mag, has a blog and is a big fan of all old-school dining spots like the Hamlet.

She was at Kate's the last 3 nights before closing and has some great pictures.

Good luck.

Forest Lawn...j/k. So many migrated when Hamlet Sunset closed (not that there weren't lots of people that went to both), I'm curious as well.

Need to talk to my friend Jim who worked 35 years for the family.

NY Times Review of Giada's Las Vegas restaurant. Ouch

There is a youtube video (can't post from my phone) where she delivers commencement speech in 2009 to the Anthropology graduates, which is what her degree was in.
