No one single meal is "best". But some of my favorites/standouts: My mom's homemade dinners, My aunt's homemade dinners, My sister's homemade dinners, My dad's homemade brunch and biscuits, the appetizer bar at 2 Amys, fresh raw oysters in Seattle, street food in Thailand, Laos BBQ in Laos, my birthday dinner at Komi, fresh fruit and smoothies from street vendors in Colombia, greasy double-double at In-n-Out
My current drink of choice:
tap water. really. but after that (in no order): fresh squeeze oj, carrot juice, organic wines (my latest personal fad), a good stout or porter, flor de cana 7 yr rum.
I really wish I could:
quit my day job in technology; and become a full-time eater, baker, food shopper.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Still trying to figure that one out. Trial and error!
My favorite comfort food:
Mac and Cheese (homemade, of course!)
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
In no particular order: Komi, 2 Amys, Brasserie Beck, Amma Vegetarian in McLean (for quick cheap meals). I secretly love Rays the Steaks & Hellburger -- but cannot admit to putting them on top 5 because the hostess is grumpy.
My most tattered cookbooks:
the internet :-). latest fave: art of simple food (alice waters), my dad's torn aged southern dixie cookbook from the 70's.
