I never liked the premise of this show, esp with Bobby Flay. They should change the name to Be Humiliated by Bobby Flay Live! It doesn't even matter if he loses, the arrogance of this man is disgusting.

Personally, I prefer Cafe Med to Radici. It's less expensive with more choices. And the food is quite good. And I like Warrens, but I would never get anything there except seafood. I also like Common Man for less expensive and good food.

How about Portillo's? 62 Harlem, great burgers. Our go to place as soon as we land at Midway. Maybe 10 minutes away, depending on traffic.

I'm going with Finelli's. I live in Maine, but I'm from Chicago, which has the best pizza, yes, thin crust, but up here it's Finelli's.

I highly recommend Bella Verona on Essex St. I thought it was fantastic. Inexpensive pasta dishes, best I've had in years, since we moved to Maine. It's across from the visitors center and parking garage.

We will only be there one night , anyone have an opinion on which would be the better choice? I keep hearing about the great Italian food in Providence, so with only one choice, I don't want to pick the wrong one. We were planning on AlForno till I read the review here of San Vivaldo. Anyone?

I googled this restaurant, some sites post a menu (which looks great), other sites say there is no menu, you just tell the chef what you want. Can anyone clarify, I'm not sure if what I describe will be as good as what the chef makes. I'd rather a menu.

Just not impressed. I think the review came on too strong, it left me expecting a lot.

I read recently that New Britain has a number of Polish restaurants. Anyone have any recs? I'm from Chicago, living in Maine, and would love some good Polish food. Thanks,

We ordered the chili at the Maine Diner, still have nightmares about it, it was gross. Have never been back - even the "decent" stuff is way overpriced.

Unfortunately, Tatra Inn closed last year. It was the best...

Nick and Vito's is on tonite's episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives...

I'll second Louisa's, it's closest to the original "deep-dish". But I have to say Palermo's on 95th Cicero is my absolute favorite. I could live on the deep dish cheese. Wish I had the recipe for the terrific sauce...

Joe's American Bar and Grill
Anyone try or like this place? Sometimes I crave good unfrilly American food, and the menu looks pretty good. Anyone have any comments or even suggestions. I was thinking about the one in North Shore Mall.
Thanks,

Good, I thought for sure it was Cafe this Way...I've never been to Miguel's so I won't miss it. Thanks for the clarification.

The restaurant is listed on Craig's list. At least the pictures look like it. This was one of my favorites in Bar Harbor and was always packed. Anyone know for sure?

What about Bintliff's in Ogunquit? The food is good, and you can get one of those cozy private dining cubbies.

Man, got excited when I saw this post, disappointed no one has the recipe. We moved out of state 5 yrs ago, everytime we come home we go to Palermo's, Would love their recipe...

There's a terrific new restaurant in Eastport - The Pickled Herring. Best restaurant in the area. We were there twice right after they opened and the food and service were excellent then, I can only assume it will get even better. They use local ingredients, and will be open year round.

Any recent recs? I checked the boards, last post I found was 06...Anyone been there lately that had a good dinner?

I, too, love their books, but realized that they are all rehashes of each other. ATK, Best of ATK, Quick Foods, whatever, and then the recipes all turn up in the magazine. Now I buy just the one book a year, ATK 2007, 2008 etc.

Is the Samba Room still in Naperville? I always liked it there.

After reading some food workers blogs, bitterwaitress.com or waiterrant.com, etc,. some times I don't even want to go out for dinner.

Went to Ashworth a few weeks ago, I thought it was awful. Anyone try 931 Ocean?

Vienna dogs, steamed, on a poppy seed bun, with yellow mustard, green relish, onions and sport peppers, and, oh yes, celery salt. Yup, I'm from Chicago, and boy, since moving to Maine, it's the food I crave most.

The Maine Diner in Wells serves hot lobster rolls, nothing but lobster meat and melted butter. Excellent.
