Tacos, Tacos and more Tacos

Hi!

I feel like so many taco/mexican places have opened up recently but which ones are worth it?

i happen to love taqueria on Orchard and I think that Empellon tacos are ok but overpriced...maybe i'm asking what are the best bang for your buck and which are worth the extra $$

thoughts!?

First date (technically, 1.5, I guess) recommendations please! Great food + beer options!

the standard biergarten is right there...not so date-y but you can definitely get a beer there

Lively friday night dinner with married friends from out of town wanting a night on the town

we will be having dinner on the later side around 9:30 after seeing daniel tosh at radio city and would prefer something downtown on the west side so we can go out in the area (probably west village) for cocktails after...we dont really have any cuisine restrictions or budget but a place that takes reservations is really ideal (i was thinking redfarm/tertulia or frankies 570 but none of them take reservations)

thanks in advance!

Seafood/Raw Bar Recs in The Village

I think that if you really only want sushi then go with morimoto etc but lure is great as a seafood restaurant...Plus if your burger guys wants a burger they have an awesome one..

Seafood/Raw Bar Recs in The Village

If your considering Soho I LoVE lure fishbar...i think that both their sushi and fish entrees are great and its a good scene and good for groups

for just sushi i think that blue ribbon sushi is good...and you may be able to squeeze into one of their boths...only downside is their no reservations policy, but there is a bar down the block and they will call you when your table is ready

i had a great sushi/sashimi meal at soto, but the admosphere leaves much to be desired in my opinion

beaver creek/vail

Hi,

my boyfriend and i are going with another couple (we are in our late 20/early 30's) next weekend and staying in beaver creek, but want to have a fun night out in vail on saturday night. any suggestions? we'd most likely like to go to dinner then out to a lively bar or lounge restaurant suggestions would be great (under $100 per person all in with cocktails and probably a bottle of wine) bar can be anything from a dive to a cocktail lounge just don't know what is out there...

any suggestion in Beaver Creek are welcome as well...we have a reservation a Beono's Cabin for Sunday night..has anyone been? if so, what do you recommend there?

thanks so much!!

Help! need recommendations for anywhere below 14th street but above chambers

Hi,

so I need to figure out where to go for my 26th bday dinner. we will be a group of 6 and i know my friends will want to pay for my share so i want to keep it under 60 a person plus tip which is really 50 a person including me..

any suggestions??

my parents will donate the wine so its really about the food...

i was thinking tapas or small plates but nothing has really caught my attention. I wanted something on the livelier side since it is going to be on a thursday night

thanks so much!!

Help! After work place for drinks and maybe dinner in Midtown/UES

Hi,

I am meeting my older brother (40) who I have seen in a few years for drinks and most likely food after work today. He is staying in the 60s and on 42nd so something either in between us or near me (bc I live downtown) would be ideal. Ideally i would like a wine bar where we could order small plates if we get hungry, but i would also like for it to be a good scene - not too crowded and not so much that i have to yell to have our conversation...

any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

i was thinking maybe accademia del vino, but not thrilled with it...

thanks!!

Dinner with mom who is staying on the UES and a good friend my age (25)

Hi,

So tomorrow night my mom is coming into the city and we had planned on going to see Hair and then a relaxing dinner, but my friend is going through some difficult times and needs a friend so we've nixed the show and are just doing dinner. I really wanted to do Marea, but looking at the menu with all the entrees being 35+ it just seems like a lot to ask of my mother...I have a job, but she will be treating...

also I want something that isn't too loud, but has a nice atmosphere, not too stuffy and with a good crowd

some of the places my mother and I have been to and love are la goulue - i have been going since i can remember -- sooo sad they are closed until they find a new place..

orsay, lure fishbar (ie doesn't HAVE to be on the UES, but gramercy and above would be ideal and no UWS), centolire, nonni, capitale grill midtown (close to my office),

any suggestions would be great!!

also tried to get a reservation at scarpetta but they only had 10pm available

thanks!!
