Midweek Lunch in Walnut area near Mt. SAC

Across the street from Mt. SAC there is Domo Sushi, which is very good and can't be beat for the price. They are typical rolls etc but the product is very good and cannot be beat for the price. In the Mt. SAC shopping center is El Taco Nazo and in the Village is Bella Napoli. Bella Napoli is pretty straight forward Italian with decent pizzas and salads and El Taco Nazo is great fish tacos. Depending on how much time you have, Rowalnd Heights is only about 10 minutes away and has a plethora of options. There is also a Claro's Italian market off of Citrus in Covina for sandwiches and an Old World Market in the Eastland shopping center for broasted chicken and what I hear is a decent salad bar.

not too ethnic, moderately priced and by the beach

i am taking both my grandmother's to lunch this saturday and have come up empty handed after searching the boards. I am looking for somewhere by the beach, preferably malibu, santa monica or palisades area; moderately priced (less that $15 a person without alcohol) and fairly mainstream. these are old women with set tastes (no asian or latin american, but italian, mexican and old fashioned american/english is fine). anybody can help me out?

Best won ton soup?

As a really sad FYI Wonton Forest is gone and has been replaced by a Verizon store...I weep for the chili sauce

heavenly ramen experience in my own house???

My friend just got back from japan stocked up with Kurume Taiho Ramen and other assorted pre-made ramens, some of which kick the crap out of my local joints. I know that most of these are only available overseas and fedexing is just wishful thinking, so what is the best packaged ramen I can get here? I know my local ramen shops well, but sometimes all I want is a bowl of ramen while I watch TV in my sweats and no desire to leave the house. I am willing to drive to whatever random Nijiya market etc has them and pay some decent cash. Can someone give me some ideas?

21st birthday from Westwood to Universal

I have searched the boards and have not had too much luck with my quandary. Saturday, October 24 is my 21st birthday and I need some really good recs. Here are the specs:

1. Group size: around 8 people (including 3 underage...so 18+ please)

2. less than/around 20 per person (not including drinks) (my parents are being incredibly generous and footing the bill and I don't want to screw them over too badly)

3. We have to be in Universal City for a comedy show by 10pm and we are getting picked up at Westwood/UCLA so anything on the way from Westwood to Universal Citywalk would completely work

4. Any food type except maybe Indian (one of my friends is not too adventurous, but he can deal so don't let that deter too much)

5. A kinda fun place and a decent drink menu we are all foodies in training and LA born and bred so something pretty good (I love dives) though chain is okay as long as its halfway decent chain
Thanks!!!

GO!!!!

fish and chips + oceanview = ?

I have tried to search the posts and previus threads, but to no avail. My fairly frail and persnickety grandparents have a hankering for fish and chips by the ocean. We are fairly open to traveling, but as these people are in their mid-80's, it'f be nice to keep in the Ventura/Oxnard area...Santa Barbera area maybe. Anyone got any suggestions?
