White Truffles in MPLS or online?
My wife and I have always had good luck with the specialty food company Marx Foods online (http://www.marxfoods.com). We have never ordered white truffles, they have both the ones from Oregon and Italy, but everything else we have received from them exceeded our expectations.
MSP - Thai Cooking Supplies (incl. Mortar & Pestle)
The Golden Lion Grocery Store in Brooklyn Park carries a good selection of reasonable mortars and pestles (their bahn mi @ $2.75 are the reason I keep showing up there). I also bought Supatra Johnson's "Crying Tiger Thai Recipes form the Heart" (local author and cooking instructor) which is a great entry level Thai cookbook at the Golden Lion.

Good food in Blaine, MN?
The T-Box Bar and Grill just up Highway 65 from Blaine has some great small plates, a good selection of specialty beers and wine, an outstanding pastry chef and even a meat and seafood retail store. Also, I have read that the recently closed T-Asia in Blaine (got this T thing going) is being re-opened by a former Heartland chef.
Thanh Do (South MSP) - A Little Gem
It's right across from the high school, on 7th Ave. in a very small strip mall (right next to the Russian grocery).

Thanh Do -North MSP
Went to my daughter's Anoka High School orchestra concert this afternoon and after it was over, we thought we would try the new Thai place across the street from the high school, in the tiny strip mall. Turned out it was a second location for Thanh Do, one of Thom Pham's restaurants. Now I fully expect Alinea to open a branch here also. But seriously, it was a very pleasant surprise. The food was great, the service was outstanding, and the place was damn near empty and it's only 5 miles from my house. At this point I'm hoping they serve breakfast since I drive past it every day. And now my daughter wants to work there this summer. I sure hope they make it that long.
