Recommendations for a Beerhound in Manhattan?

We ended up going to Eataly/Birreria (Sam Calagione just happened to be there so my husband got the opportunity to chat with him & snap a picture) then we went to Blind Tiger. We were at Blind Tiger on Friday around 1pm. We were able to get 2 stools at the bar. I think those were the only seats left but it wasn't "crowded". It was a great place, and I tried a cup of the beer cheese soup = outstanding!!

Recommendations for a Beerhound in Manhattan?

Thanks so much for all of these replies so far. I'm sure almost anything will be better than what we're used to here in Kansas City, hence why my husband took up home brewing a couple years ago. We're looking forward to tasting Dogfish Head as it's not distributed in Missouri nor Kansas and my husband is an IPA freak..

Recommendations for a Beerhound in Manhattan?

We'll be in NYC this weekend. My husband is a homebrewer, craft beer aficionado, hop head, etc. etc. I'm looking for suggestions for restaurants or bars, or breweries, to visit while we're there? We're staying in Chelsea (26th St b/w 6th & 7th Ave).

Any good sushi recommendations in KC area?

Closest to downtown would be Nara

Next would probably be Friends Sushi & Bento in Westport which is really popular.

KC area brunch with small children?

Trying to find a place to make Mother's Day reservations. I've read good things about brunch at Avenues Bistro, Bluestem, Room 39, Trezo Mare, & Webster House. Anyone know if any of those places would be acceptable to take small children (aged 1 & 5)?

Pizzeria Bianco late night?

Most of the posts I've read about PB have been requesting advice on how to get in when they first open. How is the wait for later in the night? How late are they open? We will be in PHX tonight thru Sunday afternoon so I would like to fit in a stop there but we have a very flexible schedule and could make it pretty much any time of the afternoon or night Wed - Sat.

Kid-less vacation to PHX this weekend - where to eat?

My husband & I are from Kansas City and will be traveling for 4 days this weekend to PHX for the first time. We have 2 small children, who are staying home with grandma, and so we are really looking forward to dining out wherever we want!!

What are the must try places in PHX? Not really interested in BBQ or steakhouses since we have a plethora of that where we live. We'd like to find some great seafood, sushi, and of course Southwestern cuisine but we are really open to any great food. We are open to any type of establishment - anywhere from a fantastic hole in the wall, great cheap eats to an upscale dining experience. My husband is really into craft beers, any places we should check out? Our hotel is near the airport but we have a rental car and will be traveling around the metro area.

Birthday dinner Kansas City

I think Le Fou Frog would be great. We went there for our anniversary last year and my husband had a big steak & frites. He loved every part of the meal, from the Lobster Bisque, to the steak, to the Profiteroles & Creme Brulee for dessert. Delish!

My First Dinner Party for Anyone Other than Family - and on a Budget

Pork Tenderloin is fairly inexpensive and paired with the right sauce, it can be a very impressive dish. You could serve with a side of diced roasted sweet potatoes (peel sweet potatoes & chop into cubes, toss very lightly in olive oil & sprinkle lightly with salt, roast at 425 degrees) and some buttered orzo w/ some herbs tossed in.

I used this recipe a couple weeks ago and it was really easy & REALLY good!
It's from Cooking Light

Spiced Pork Tenderloin with Bourbon Reduction Sauce
Ingredients
Sauce:
1/2 cup bourbon
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons bottled minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Pork:
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 (1-pound) pork tenderloin, trimmed
Cooking spray

Preparation
To prepare sauce, combine the first 6 ingredients in a medium saucepan; bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook until reduced to 1/2 cup (about 11 minutes), stirring frequently. Remove from heat.

To prepare pork, combine chili powder, cinnamon, allspice, and salt, stirring well; rub evenly over pork. Cut pork crosswise into thick, but not too thick slices. (I got about 8 slices that were the perfect thickness)

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add pork to pan; cook 4 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Serve with sauce.

ISO: Recipe for Rigatoni in a fontina cheese sauce w/ bacon or pancetta & spinach

I had this dish at an Italian buffet restaurant and it was SO good. I don't know what the exact name of the dish is but I want to try to find a recipe so I can make it at home. My husband keeps telling me that I don't need a recipe because I know what's in it but my doubting mind wants a recipe to hold my hand. : )

Kansas City - best "burnt ends"

I am not a big fan of burnt ends but the best one's I've had , which was by suprise at a work function, were from Smoke Box BBQ in the Northland. There's actually a location right off I-29 & Tiffany Springs Pkwy on the east side of the highway, if you're traveling to KCI.

"White Castles" in Kansas City area...wha happened??

I haven't seen a White Castle in KC in nearly 10 years. There are plenty of Church's Chicken locations around though. Not sure what happened...but I'm not complaining... was never a fan of white castle.

KC where is your dessert spot?

The Pastry Goddess in Briarcliff had the best cheesecake I've ever tasted but I was in that area this week and saw the shop was closed. Not sure if she moved to a new location or what.

When I have an ice cream craving.. it's Sheridan's Custard all the way. Love love LOVE the Caramel Pretzel Crunch!

I have to also agree w/ the recommendation of the chocolate bag at McCormick & Schmick's. Absolutely wonderful!

Babycakes is great and so are some wonderful treats at McLain's Bakers in Waldo.
