Orlando-area Middle Eastern Bakery

Anyone have any recommendations?

Orlando: Cheap Eats 10 dollars and under a plate

Chilango's on 434 in Winter Springs. Has a good Mexican menu, a nice family-style atmosphere and (at least a few months ago) was offering a buffet dinner on Monday. Great value for the money and nice, local business owner.

Anybody have any chow-worthy budget suggestions for seafood in Orlando/Seminole County?

How are Guppy's on the Beach Grill & Bar in Indian Rocks & E&E Stakeout Grill

I've never eaten at E&E. However, I've had several meals at Guppy's, both lunch and dinner. over a 10 year period and have never had a disappointing meal. It is creative and well-priced with good service.

non chain, orlando fast food

Based on your recommendations, my husband and I tried Chilango's tonight. It is exactly as you said it was. Friendly, exceptionally well-priced, wtih a really good variety. Everything felt very fresh. It appears that in addition to their normal menu (easily found on the prior entry's link) that on the second Monday of the month they offer a buffet so that customers may more easily sample their varied offerings.

Kid Friendly Nice Restaurant in Orlando for Sunday?

For shared family meals down near the attractions we've had good luck with Taverna Opa. They had a kids menu and you can easily make a kids menu out of the small plates. If you were looking closer to Winter Park I'm thinking 310 Park might be workable. Casual, near the chocolate shop and has a kids menu. You could walk/run out the kids first on the avenue or in the park and then head over for the meal.

Any good Fish&Chips places in Orlando?

As of last week, Grouper & More in Baldwin Park has closed.

Vero Beach Restarurant Reviews

We just returned from Vero as well. i would have to say that I definitely agree with you regarding the Ocean Grill. The menu selections were limited and somewhat dated. Mediocre is definitely the word that came to mind.

On the other hand Oriente at the Costa d'Este had a pretty serviceable array of sandwiches including a great salmon BLT and salads, the Lobster cobb was a hit.

Sangria's Oveido - Worth a visit.

Lately, I've been trying to dine closer to home and to support my "local" businesses. While Circosta's and Stefano's are both reliable, I wanted to try something new. Last night I tried Sangria's. It is located in the same plaza as Cavallari gourmet at the corner of 426 and Red Bug Lake.

Sangria's is a small tapas place that offers a short menu of favorites as well as a paella of the day. For drinks they offer red and white sangria, some nice house wines and a variety of non-alcoholic favorites.

As for the food, the chorizo cooked in wine sauce was flavorful and the shrimp over roasted asparagus was also pretty good. They offered a rounds of warm crusty bread with a light olive oil dip as well. Most of the plates were priced in the 6.95 or 7.95 range.

The service was friendly. It is a pretty intimate set-up with low lighting and small tables as well as a small bar area in the back. Last night they were playing a nice array of Spanish music and they plan to offer live music the 1st and 3rd Saturday of next month.

I'm glad I stopped in and I will definitely head back.

Blue Zoo, Raglan Road, Rainforest Cafe, Jiko

I would like to second the recommendation of T-Rex. We ate there last week and I have to say that the spaces were much more dramatic and interesting looking than Rainforest. In our group we ordered the Filet, the ribs and the fried shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their meal. And frankly, as dramatic as the interior was (ice cave room, moving "octopus" leading out of the giant aquarium at the bar) we really weren't expecting much from the food. But we were pleasantly surprised. We all plan to go back.

Orlando-St.Joseph's Day Cake

My husband grew up in New York and he always loved having St.Joseph's Day cakes on his feast day in March. Does anyone know of an Italian bakery or any bakery in Orlando that might have them? In the alternative, can anyone suggest a good shipping source?

La Cachette De La Plage - Indian Rocks Beach

Thanks and thanks for the reminder on the wine. I've already purchased something. I think it's a really neat idea not to mention cost-effective to let diners bring their own wine. I wish more restaurants were willing to do it!

La Cachette De La Plage - Indian Rocks Beach

We are heading there for a birthday dinner this weekend. I've seen a lot of general positive posts about this place as a hospitable, cozy place with good food convenient to the Pinellas beaches. My question is.....does anyone who has been there have any specific recommendations as to what would be considered the stronger, better dishes? Anything on the menu that is truly "not to be missed"?

Flying to your choice of Orlando, Tampa, or Ft. Lauderdale just for lunch - which city/restaurant do you choose?

I've lived in both Tampa and Orlando. I agree that lunch in Ybor city or on the Gulf can be wonderful.

That said, I'd like to put in some non-chain recs for my current home, Orlando. Specifically, for Graze (downtown near Lake Eola) . Hip decor, lots of great reviews and awards, focus on seasonal cuisine. And more enthusiastically for the Ravenous Pig in Winter Park. If you put the Ravenous Pig into the search for this board, you will get mentions and recommendations in 52 separate threads. We have been there twice, the atmosphere is laid back, the wine list is the diverse and the menu is a fabulous blend of the regional and seasonal.

Here's hoping you have a great lunch. Somewhere.
