OK - Here we go. For better or worse this is the decision -

China - Great China
Ethiopia - FinFine
El Salvador - Platano
France - Liaison
Italy - Corso
Japan - Ippuku
Switzerland - Fondue Fred
Tibet - Cafe Tibet
Turkey - Turkish Kitchen

Now I have to get down there and try them all - somebody has to do it!

Thanks for all the suggestions - much appreciated!

Around the World in Berkeley

Thanks all - this is a great list that I'm compiling. I am going to put up my short list next week to be fired at. I should have mentioned that they have to be within 20 minutes walking of the UC campus.

Any more suggestions welcomed.

Around the World in Berkeley

I have to arrange an event for 200 people in June of next year, that involves ten groups of twenty people having dinner in Berkeley. The ten groups will all eat at ten separate restaurants, each establishment from a different national cuisine.

So I am looking for recommendation please for:

Indian, Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, French , Italian, Japanese, Chinese and two more - I am thinking of avoiding American but haven't gone firm on that.

Huge topic I know, but all suggestions really appreciated!

A quality Goose

We have recently moved to Canada from Europe where for years we have had a beautiful tender goose for our Christmas dinner. Last year our local butcher in Ontario produced us a scrawny, tasteless fowl that did no justice to our festivities at all. So we have decided to put our trust in the more foodie Quebec and see if Montreal can source us a goose worthy of the name. Please help - this is Canada after all and Canada and Goose does have a certain ring to it!! Thanks.

Special atmosphere in Houston

I can be flexible on budget but expect to pay anything up to $100 a head with wine. The atmosphere is important- there will be no presentations or speeches - just a good meal and discussion. Thanks.

Special atmosphere in Houston

I have to host a dinner in Houston next May and am traveling to the city next week to look for suitable venues.

It is for a dinner for about 30 people in a setting that is within reasonable access to the convention centre but has good food, a warm atmosphere and maybe something unique to either Houston, Texas or the area in general.

What shouldn't I miss?

Thanks

Scarborough - with a glass of wine

Enjoyed the recent thread on Scarborough, particularly as we seem to spend so many evenings there due to our kids' soccer fixtures.

Enjoy the diverse restaurant options - indian, Caribbean, Asian etc - but like to have a glass of wine with dinner after the game.

What would be recommendations for Scarborough after 8:30 PM - with a glass of wine.

Thanks!

Dinner near the LA Convention center

There have been some threads about lunches and cheap eats around the convention center. I am looking to take some clients out to dinner after the conference sessions so want to go upmarket a bit but without completely breaking the bank. Are there any hidden gems nearby that I shouldn't miss?
