I really like Casa Guadalajara in Old Town. Has a nice well rounded menu and a large beautiful shaded patio. They often have traditional dancers and Mariachis. The waiters are friendly and attentive but not in that forced Applebees kind of way.
If you like seafood and want a fun atmosphere try Karina's in Chula Vista. Its good for large groups as long as you call ahead. No mater what the food is worth the wait. The waitress short skirts, the chubby lady paintings and the buckets of beer brought to the table might get to some very conservitive people but it is a family friendly kind of place.
