Tasty lobster roll

Reading the 99 ranch lobster thread has left. Me wanting to try one. Looking at Woodhouse and Nettie's crabshack? Any preferences and why? Any other good places to sample that I don't know about? Thanks!

Ristobar updates?

Did you go to Ristobar? If so, how was it? I just now saw your post, but happened to stop in there last might. I tried th octopus which was good, not quite the style I prefer, but done well. The pastas that passed by looked very good.

girls night out byob

+1 for Kanella. Also, right on Pine between 13th and Broad is Giorgio's on Pine which would probably easily stay in your range. A more generic menu if picky eaters in the group

Bar Bocce in Sausalito

I am new to the area but ate there just in May and both my friend and I had tasty, crisp pizza's. The other diner had the meatballs and liked them but I don't know her taste in food, so can't really say. I agree, menu not really exciting but sort of fit the feel they want simple. I can't comment on the prices as I forget and was also still having a lot of sticker shock back then.

Your SF board is great, I am learning so much from all of you and have no idea how I will ever try all of the interesting places.

Cheese advice please - [moved from San Francisco Bay Area board]

I would try raclette or vacherin, browns nicely and i think stays nice and edible when cold, or better yet, a mix of emmataler and gruyere, the typical swiss fondue, friends are always digging into pot well after flame is out and reheat over slice of bread the next day.

christmas party lunch byo in center city

+1 for Girogio on Pine and Mercato. A friend of mine had a holiday lunch last year at Giorgio and everyone was very happy with it. I would also think you could easily stay in that price range.

Layover in Philadelphia

You also could always take the regional rail airport line into center city, it is a easy train ride and you will be in the middle of the city with plenty in walking distance.
Some that come to mind are Matyson, Dandelion, Tinto, A.kitchen, Village Whiskey, Parc, Monk's, Continental CC

Bridal shower venues in Philly for gluten-free bride

+ 1 for Girogio on Pine, they also have a room up a small set of stairs that they can make semi-private and if it's lunch time, Ii've never really seen it that crowded. There is also a website listing all of the gluten-free restaurants in philly. Someone on here will have it, but probably can google gluten free-philadelphia.

Foodie's from Montreal in Philly because of Hurricane Irene...

You will be close to many good places. Village Whiskey for a great burger(crowded, best to go at off time), Dandelion, Tinto, Parc(french bistro, great people watching), Thirteenth street also has a row of great restaurants-Barbuzzo, El Vez, Zavino, Tequila..........
Reading Terminal Market not too much of a hike and has all different casual eating places----Try the pork sandwich wet with broccoli rabe and prov at DeNic's....have fun!

Special dinner w/specific accomodations

Bibou would be my top pick too, but it is a small space. However, there is a free public parking lot right next to it and I am thinking of the one table near the door that 2 of the chairs are back facing to the door and so have some space. I would call and speak with Charlotte, I bet she could figure out something to accomodate.

In town next week - need recs for casual near Penns View Hotel

+ 1 for panorama, but you probably want the bar side of the restaurant, the formal restaurant is(used to be at least) more fancy. I have never had a bad meal there.

Going to Distrito for the 1st time

I love the shortrib Huarache but I did have them one time that they were a little dry and not as good. The fish tacos and carnitas. If you like corn there is a corn side w/ chees that comes in a tall glass that many people I've been there with really like. Have fun!

Lunch near Loews Hotel (12th & Market), but not at Reading Terminal?

Strange, I walked by barbuzzo yesterday and it was packed at lunch time, they were open, maybe it's new?

Seeking Proposal Dinner Recommendations (Philadelphia)

I don't know about food or service but waterworks has beautiful surroundings and overlooks boathouse row. And you could probably find quiet space outside to pop the question. Have not heard good things about r2l in the liberty place, maybe you could go to one of your favorite byo's and go there for a after dinner drink for the view and all-important question. Good luck, you'll let us know how it all turns out.

Trader Joes

While you can't get wine at TJ's, to answer your question, the peanut butter cups, choc. covered raisins, trail mixes, some of the cheeses, crisp snow peas(found with the chips) are just a few of the yummy things you can get at TJ's. My fave is the flat bread with prosciutto and gruyere, but need a oven for that.

Famous 4th St. Deli

hey there, hope you are well-------I think it is as good, but comparing from being at Bainbridge years ago! I've been a few times and had takeout a couple of times, all was good and same overwhelming huge portion size.
