Latino Food
There are a couple of Mexican places in Danbury that are recomended here a lot: El Ranchero and Paco's Tacos. There is a place in the center of Danbury that has a Brasilian Buffet with meats cooked on a spit which was called "Terra Brasilis" and is now known as "Brasilis BBQ". I like it alot. Terra Brasilis also has a location in Bridgeport I think.
Cheap Eats Danbury?
Come on ....what are you guys sleeping? Nobody mentioned Terra Brasilis at 58 Main Street Danbury for their Brazilion buffet? You got to try their rotissery (sp?) meats - beef, chicken, pork.
They also have a location on North Ave in Bridgeport and I think they may own a restaurant in Rhode Island or somewhere.

Good Pho
The only place I know is Pho Vietnam in Danbury - it's one of my current "favorite restaurants".
Danbury
Has it already been mentioned that Panchos Tacos just installed a new improved air conditioning system in their dining room? Also...I noticed there is a "Terra Brasilis" in Danbury. Is it new? If their food and value is anything like the one in Bridgeport, then it will be a great place to eat. We are headed out to lunch today (Sunday) and we are going to either Taj Palace, Mysore or Pho Vietnam.
Connecticut Pizza
Modern in New Haven is the best in my book. Pepe's in New Haven or at Mohegan Sun is great too - I love the traditional white clam pie. I live in Stratford where Salerno's makes the best pie within town limits. When I'm in Ridgefield, I like the Indian pizzas that they make at Toozy Pasta and Piccolo's ( they are owned by the same people). They make 2 different "Indian" pizzas - the "Korma Pizza" and the Ravi Shankar". We have had the Korma Pizza a couple of times and it's great! A friend recomended it to us.
Cricket in Stratford, Ct.
And Salerno's is still going strong! Iv'e never been to the Windmill - is it worth checking out?
Has anybody tried Baja's Mexican Restaurant in Orange, CT?
I've probably been there 4-5 times in the last couple of years. All in all I found it to be good.
Where's the best bowl of pho in southern NE.?
Mysore...what a funny name. I'll have to try it because I'm up that way a lot and I really like Indian food. Sorry about Pho Vietnam. Are you going to try them again sometime soon? I really want to get back there again soon. When we were there - there was a gentleman (the owner?) who knew that I wasn't very familiar with the food and he was telling us which dishes were good.

Do you know the name of the Indian place?
Sushi and red-sauce Italian in Danbury area
We just came back from the Union Chinese Buffet on Newtown Rd in Danbury. The food was very good for what it is (the salmon was great) and there was a lot of variety. The sushi looked so-so and the sushi rolls were excellent. I was very impressed by how fresh everything was even though we got there late for lunch (it was about 3:30 PM on Sunday afternoon).

I went to Pho Vietnam in Danbury recently - the food was yummy and the people who worked there were very sweet. It was not a fancy place, but heck, we are talking about Pho! I've heard there are some places in New Haven, but I haven't tried them yet.
Sushi and red-sauce Italian in Danbury area
Any recomendations for red-sauce Italian or sushi in the Danbury area? I'd also be open to a Chinese buffet.
Cheap Eats around Ridgefield CT
I just loaned a close friend a lot of money, so I'll really have to tighten the belt this weekend. We are suppose to check out the car show and have dinner at Marcus Dairy tonight - it can't get much cheaper then that!

We found a great Vietnamese place, where we had lunch, in Danbury at 56 Padanaram Road called Pho Vietnam. We both had sodas, split the dumpling appetizer (it was excellent) , she had a big bowl of beef pho and I had tofu soup and a vegetable wrap and the check was only $24. It's nothing fancy, but the food was great and the people working there were very gracious. We will probably go there again this weekend.
Best ice cream in CT
You can get Dr. Mike's ice cream at Marge's on East Main Street in Stratford.
Most exotic cuisine
What is the most exotic cuisine you have ever had? For me it's Ethiopian.
Cheap Eats Around Bridgeport
I'm looking for places where you can sit down and spend $8-15 per person. I am open to ANY type of cusine.
The Most Exotic Restaurant...
I started this thread and I'm enjoying your answers and thought I would answer my own question. The most exotic restaurant I’ve been to would have to be one of the two Ethiopian restaurants I’ve eaten at - Lalibela in New Haven Connecticut and “Queen of Sheba Ethiopian” in Hell's Kitchen in New York City. Ethiopian restaurants seem to be the most exotic because there are very few around me – I think Connecticut only has one and most people I know have never tried Ethiopian cuisine. I also found it interesting that you eat Ethiopian food without utensils – you scoop up stew-like dishes with soft rubbery bread. I found Ethiopian food to be very enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for something different.
vegetarian chowhounds
The reason I went vegetarian is to try to lose weight and lower my blood pressure. I've been an on and off vegetarian through the years. I am not a vegan and I do eat fish and shell fish. I like to experiment/try various soy and veggie patties.

Helados Vazquez - another original in Black Rock
I really miss that place too. I thought they were excellent. I've heard that the owner was a bit eccentric, but I'm not sure if that played into their demise at all.
At least we've got the Port Coffee House.
Cheap Eats around Ridgefield CT
We stopped by Auntie G's to grab a quick knish. The guys were really nice there - they gave us samples of the pulled pork (which my date said was really good) and a cold chickpea salad. We will have to go back. What a crime that zoning laws won’t allow them to put some tables in.
We went back to the Earlybird Cafe and unfortunately the waitress’s incompetence and attitude ruined the experience. It’s too bad because the previous experience was good…one burned twice shy.
We also tried Sycamore and thought it was a neat place. The nostalgia can't be beat! My only complaint is that the booth seats are a bit hard on your butt, but we'll definitely go back.
We tried the Windmill Diner in Danbury and everything was good.

Cafe Roma - Bridgeport - Disappionted with the town, not the dinner.
There's just not enough confidence in Bridgeport yet - especially downtown. The last time I went to grab a bite to eat at Two Boots I noticed a couple of crack-masters outside panhandling…definitely not a positive sign. That being said, some of my favorite restaurants are in Bridgeport (I like cheap-eats) - Blood Root, Bereket, Terra Brasilis, Halados Vazquez before they shut down. I've heard that people from out of state actually visit Blood Root because of its reputation. Black Rock is very nice along Fairfield Ave – I’ve heard most of the restaurants there are good.

Thank you for the suggestions. So far, since I originally started this thread, we have tried Dimitri's and a place that we drive past all the time called Earlybird Cafe at 88 Danbury Road which I had eaten breakfast before. I thought Dimitri's was OK, but was really bowled over by Earlybird Cafe. Apparently Earlybird Cafe just started serving dinner - they use to only be open for breakfast and lunch. The food was outstanding with huge portions of good food for a moderate price.
I also thought I’d mention that we had lunch at Uno Chicago Grill in the Danbury Fair Mall this past Saturday and really got hosed – the bill was over $40 for two of us…never again unless I’m only getting potato skins or just pizza.
A couple of other places I thought we might try are Sycamore Drive-In in Bethel (mostly as a novelty - I love retro/50’s nostalgia) and The Windmill Diner in Danbury since I have a friend who likes to go there.
I’m pleasantly surprised that there are so many good and inexpensive places close to Ridgefield.

I'm looking for good "cheap eats" within a reasonable distance of Ridgefield Ct. So far I've been to the Marcus Dairy Diner in Danbury, The Ancient Mariner in Ridgefield and Toozy Pasta in Wilton and thought all of them were good for what they are. What else is good and cheap in the area? I'm into all kinds of foods.

excellent [Rivenova,Stratford, Ct.]
I wondered about that place. Acapulco's across the street has been making a go of it for for over 10 years. I think their food is excellent - just bring your ear plugs.
Anyone been to Sweet Mustard sandwich place in Stratford CT?
I'll have to try it the next time I'm up in the area and I'll let you know what I think. Have you tried Marge's on East Main Street in Stratford? It's my favorite. It's not that far from Ashcroft and The Frog Pond.

Really Cheap Near Mohegan Sun
Hi.
Can you recommend some good, but really inexpensive, places within 15 minutes or so from the Mohegan Sun? We'll be staying there overnight next week.
