Staying at the Doubletree Portland (downtown)- any breakfast recs?

We like whole wheat pancakes or just freshly-made bagels. Alternatively, would try anything where the omelettes are inventive. Can you help?

Seeking breakfast in Burlington, Ma.

Hi,

Staying at the Marriott- we like to explore. Any good places for whole wheat pancakes or even just freshly-made bagels? Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

Seeking take-out or eat-in eggplant parmigiana in Latham/Colonie area

Thanks for this recommendation. We really prefer to bring home the finished product and freeze for future use. I was in the area last week and tried Cardona's for take-out. Their preparation was satisfactory but will give Genoa Importing a try next time I drive to Albany...

Seeking take-out or eat-in eggplant parmigiana in Latham/Colonie area

We love the dish but find that most pizza places use canned sauce that is too sweet for our palates. Can anyone recommend a place that does a great preparation?

UES low key Saturday dinner

Italian- Giovanni Venticinque or Felice 83. I think they are now the best in the area...

Felice 83 on the UES- has anyone tried it yet?

Walked pass this very attractive restaurant and noted a high Zagat rating on the signage. Is it as good as it looks?

pre-theater near 59th and 10th?

Have eaten at RGR's suggested restaurant, Taboon, and can personally recommend the food there.

Seeking restaurant around 42nd and Fifth or Sixth...

Need a reasonable dinner spot- will be too late for pre-theater pre fixe! Does anyone have recs for friends who like American food and some ethnic foods. Can walk north and east for your suggestions...

Craving veal osso buco but can't find any Itaian restaurants with the dish listed on the menu...

I know about the restaurant named Osso Buco but have been discouraged from trying it. Have seen lamb osso buco recently listed but would prefer the veal. Can anybody help with some recs?

Looking for breakfast, W. Stockbridge, MA area

I think you can't go wrong with Martin's- I love their pancakes. If Cafe Reva is your choice, her whole wheat pancakes were quite special. As was said before, coffee is not outstanding in either place but the entrees are strong.

Where to buy fresh caught fish in the North Miami Beach area?

I know that Whole Foods is in Aventura and the Epicure in Sunny Isles has quite pricey selections. Any places that offer high quality fish in the area or farther south?

BevMo 5 cent sale Feb 2012- anything worthwhile?

Tried the Schug and liked it- also thought Les Mines Priorat was great value. I bought the Henry's Dead Letter Office in Oct. 2011's 5 cent sale and loved it- think they are out of it now.

Upper East Side - Interesting / Noteworthy for dinner?

Thanks to UES Mayor on his rec on Om for Indian food. Brought a bottle of wine over tonight and agree that it is the best neighborhood Indian food we've had in all our years here. We'll take a chance on Veatery as well.

Noticed a new Turkish place, Agora, on 80th Street that is also permitting BYOB. Will give that a try and report back.

Lunch in Sharon or Salisbury, Ct. area

Will be driving to Ma. from Wassaic train station and would like to stop en route. Can anyone recommend a good place for soups, salads, and sandwiches? Thanks for your help...

Bevmo 5 Cent Sale ends on Oct. 24- Have you tried any bottles you recommend?

I would like to order a case and prefer reds. However, would also try above average whites. Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

Seeking a restaurant in the Delray Beach/Boynton Beach area...

Am taking a number of relatives out for a birthday dinner. Would like to find a good place with a prix fixe meal for about $40 maximum per person. The timing is open- early bird or later.... It would probably have choices of American or Continental dishes- no spicy ethnic foods. Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

Seeking restaurant near the Adrienne Arsht Center

NYC Chowhounds coming to a show and need to meet friends for dinner before the curtain. We will be treating and would like something interesting, but not too spicy. We all like grilled fish and most ethnic foods. If there are prix fixe theater dinners in the area, that would be helpful. We'd like to keep it around $35-40 per person, if possible. Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

Theater in Cambridge and Hotel in Revere- Recs in between?

Yes, we are seeing Porgy and Bess. Not sure when the show ends but we are fine eating around Cambridge or going to another area with our car. Are any of those Cambridge recs in walking distance of the theater? That would be helpful as I suppose we need to garage our car for the performance any way.

We'd prefer a place that accepts reservations but if you think there would not be a long line at Island Creek, we'd not be adverse to an early dinner. We will check into the hotel after dining so we can take advantage of your suggestions.

Thanks for all your help!

Fiori in Great Barrington (Ma) Lots of hype - any of it genuine?

We tried it in August and quite enjoyed the food- especially the heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella appetizer. The deconstructed lasagne was good but would have preferred a more traditional version. The fish entree was excellent.

I would definitely return- smaller portions and a bit pricier than the competition but high quality ingredients and imaginative preparation. I would now rate it as one of the better restaurants in the Berkshires.

Theater in Cambridge and Hotel in Revere- Recs in between?

NYC Chowounds coming in for matinee but must stay near airport for morning departure. We love fish and seafood and are open to suggestions for dinner- about $125 with wine. We love all ethnic foods and all fish and shellfish dishes, including lobster. Does the West End make sense for Italian fish preparation? Should we search for a Legal Seafood en route?

Aura, Sibling Rivalry, Sensing or Mamma Mia

Read good things about the above choices and wondering what Boston locals prefer. New York Chowhounds will be in town for only one night and would like to try one of these. My husband and I love fish and shellfish so that part of the menu would be our focus. Thanks, in advance, for your feedback.

Taylor's in North Adams, Ma. - Has anyone been there lately?

We used to frequent the place when it was called Taylor's Fine Dining. We didn't know what happened but one day found it closed. Is the quality the same with the new menu?

Good Food Shopping near 88th and York

As to wine prices, I now call K&D on Madison Avenue. If you order a single bottle, they will deliver it for free and we have found their prices to be lower than the local neighborhood stores.

Need some dinner recs near Glimmerglass in Cooperstown area for first trip to the area...

Are there any restaurants that are better than average? Can't find much written in guidebooks so would appreciate any help you can offer

Saw a Tresanti wine cooler/cabinet in Home Goods

This furniture piece is attractive, tall, and holds 18 bottles. It is priced at $500 and I was wondering if anyone has a similar product and could comment on its performance. I am not familiar with this manufacturer and would like to know if it is reliable. Thanks, in advance, for your feedback.

Paris- Marriott Rive Gauche- Anyone good restaurants in the area?

Just realized that I failed to mention a great meal at Marty- a good distance by foot- but worthy of dining. It opens at 7 pm and offers great fish and seafood. We particularly enjoyed the oysters on the prix fixe. Locals were there and the decor was lovely.

La Cagouille

We were there in May and had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the free amuse bouche of tiny snails that needed to be pulled from their shells. Also loved the lightly fried anchovies and tiny shrimp as appetizers. The fish entrees were perfectly prepared as well. We were fine with our wine choice so would highly recommend this restaurant if you are a fish or seafood lover.

New Vietnamese restaurant in Williamstown?

You are right- I had forgotten about that posting. However, still looking forward to giving it a try.

New Vietnamese restaurant in Williamstown?

Saw Saigon on the main street. Has anyone tried it yet?

Staying at the Renaissance Chancery Court- would love recs in walking distance! [London]

The concierge recommended The French Kitchen, an excellent French bistro right across the street from the hotel. It was formerly Villandry and retained the chef. It was superior to bistros we had just tried in Paris! I would return on my next trip!
