5 Days in NYC on a budget
hello manhattan board!
I will be coming up from New Orleans to NYC for the new year. I'm looking for great food that wont run much over $50 for two people. I am staying in Chelsea, so recs in the neighborhood are a plus. I appreciate any feedback you have to give!

It could have been cornstarch mixed with a bit of water? That's how I prepare all of my cornstarch before adding it to any recipe.

Anything good to eat on the drive from New Orleans to Austin? Looking for tasty and CHEAP, and recommendations in the city for good, inexpensive food is welcome!

Totally agree. I went last week and had a waffle with one scrambled egg, boyfriend has a bacon cheeseburger with a side of cheese fries. MMMMMMM!!! Never been better in my opinion...
Quiet place for (potentially long) conversation
Where's a good place that I could meet a friend to catch up over dinner? Somewhere that wont rush us in and out, and that's not too expensive. Everything's game!

I would put Baru on my top list. Every meal I've had there was fantastic.
Best Po Boy in New Orleans?
I love Parasol's for a roast beef, Domilise's for oyster, and I really love Boucherie's duck confit poyboy with cinnamon pickled carrots and candied pecans.
Cheapest Lunch Place
Been to all those places, but I'll revisit Jazmine. I used to go at least 2-3 times a week, but kinda got sick of it. Like always, today I wound up going to China Orchid. Can't beat $5.45 for 6 crab rangoon for me!!!

Luke Restaurant
Great meal there this Sunday with a group of four. Our meal looked like this:
Half a dozen raw P&J Oysters
Assiette de Charcuterie (different pates and foie gras with mustard, chutney, and house-made pickles.)
Roasted Beet Salad (w/bleu cheese & spiced pistachios!)
Fried Oyster, Bacon, Romaine, and Avacado Salad
Luke Burger (with tomatoes, bacon, caramelized onions, and Emmenthaler cheese)
Croque Madame
Pressed Cochon de Lait Sandwich
Everything was delicious! The service was quick, although the house filled up towards the middle-end of our meal. Our pate plate had a great variety of smoky, tart, and spicy flavors, and was served with crisp toast. The two salads were delicious, the oyster salad had savory pieces of cubed bacon that added a great aspect to the dish. All the sandwiches were served with housemade fries, which were thin, golden and tasty!
For a first time, Luke really made a great impression, and I hope to go back. Any menu recommendations for next time?

I always feel like I get in a rut with the restaurants I frequent in NO, but I love me some ethnic cooking, so I was wondering if anyone had good recommendations. To start off, I love the cubano sandwich at Churro's in Metairie, and the lamb and couscous at Jamila's.
