Smorgasborg / Saturday Brunch Recommendation around Lancaster / Hershey, PA
Hello, going to be visiting Hershey / Amish country from NYC with friends on Saturday, and was wondering where to go for a smorgasborg brunch / lunch? Thanks.
Meatball Shop...Anyone?
Got take out from there Sunday night - "naked" pork meatballs with tomato sauce, "naked" chicken meatballs with the parmesan cream sauce, and a side of risotto. Both meatball / sauce combinations were very good. The chicken meatballs were very tender and flavorful, the pork meatballs were a little soft for me (I prefer my meatballs with a minimum of bread crumbs) but flavorful. The risotto was a little crunchy and not particularly good. Next time I'll probably order online to avoid the wait, but the food was good.

Pizza at Motorino
I've also had a pretty bad experience there. I went for lunch and, not only did they not have the lunch special advertised on their website and the pizza prices were $3 more than their online menu, the pizza also was ridiculously soggy in the middle. The edges of the crust did taste good, and the sauce was nice, but when you pull out one slice not everything should fall back into the box as it did.

Ginger Beer in Jackson Heights
Reed's Ginger Beer is pretty bad, tasting more like pineapple than ginger. Definitely not a substitute.
Buffets in Lancaster Pennsylvania
We ended up going to Shady Maple smorgasborg. Wow, that's a ton of food! We enjoyed the scrapple quite a bit. I liked the roast beef, and we both through the fried chicken was surprisingly juicy for a buffet place. I also liked the chili a lot. Not great food, but definitely above average and you definitely can't beat the quantity.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Sandwiches in Manhattan
Any recommendations on sandwiches at Original Sandwich Shoppe? I walk by it often and have been tempted to go inside but have no idea if it is actually good or not. Thanks.
Buffets in Lancaster Pennsylvania
Any recommendations on which buffets to go to? My wife and I will be driving through the area, and I was thinking of trying the smorgasborg in Bird-In-Hand, but if there is a better place please let me know.
Tue - Thai Restaurant on Greenwich - anyone been?
It was noodles, bok choy (not sure what it is called in Thailand, but essentially the same thing), and chicken. Nothing fancy, but liked it quite a bit. Last time we went we also got the papaya salad - good, but nothing special, your usual mix of crunchy papaya and a spicy, lime-based sauce.
Tue - Thai Restaurant on Greenwich - anyone been?
My wife, who grew up in SE Asia, and I went there recently and liked it. We just had the Pad Thai and Red Curry, so can't compare with the dishes you tried. We especially liked the Pad Thai, which was not the sticky sweet goopy stuff at other restaurants but was nicely flavored with noodles were al dente which was a nice surprise. Red Curry was flavorful, but nothing too spectacular.
New England Seafood Shack on LI North Shore?
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good New England-style seafood shack on the North Shore of Long Island? Nothing fancy, just want some good steamers, fried clams, etc. Also, any recommendations on wineries out there? Thinking of doing a wine tour as well so...
Best Cupcakes, for sure!
Petsi Pies in Cambridge and Somerville have some of the best cupcakes I've ever tried. I'm especially fond of their "whoopie", aka Hostess, cupcake. Their red velvet is also extremely good.
