The Big Taste 2012 (formerly Dine Out Calgary)

Has anyone tried anything great so far?
I have a reservation for Chef's Table but haven't tried anything yet.

International Sommelier Guild at SAIT

Thanks for the responses. I hadn't heard of the WSET courses before but now that I have I think they would suit me better.

International Sommelier Guild at SAIT

Hi,

I wanted to know whether anyone has taken any of the International Sommelier Guild classes offered through SAIT?

Thoughts on Boccavino?

I've been many times and I think the food is quite good. It has Italian food on the menu but also pub style food since it's a sports lounge.

Italian in YYC

"I've heard good things about the restaurant attached to Lina's Italian Market..."

The restaurant is called Bocavino, and yes, it is quite good plus the prices are reasonable. They serve pasta, meat dishes and pizza plus a selection pub food since it's kind of a sports bar.

Thanks for posting!

ISO meyer lemons in YYC

Roarosaur, would you post your limoncello recipe on the spirits board?

I've bought them at the Community Natural Foods downtown before but I don't know if they have any at the moment.

Not-sweet cocktails that mesh well with food

I completely agree with the Americano suggestion. I don't like sweet drinks either and I find and Americano is great on it's own or with food.

Where to eat in Puerto Vallarta now?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Where to eat in Puerto Vallarta now?

Hi Mexivilla,

I'm going to Nuevo Vallarta for the first time and staying at Villa La Estancia. Could you elaborate on the restaurants you mentioned? Do you know of any great ones near us or are we destined to cab/bus it?

Mario Batali pasta sauce

I bought some when I was there last week. I haven't tried it yet, so good to know it's delicious. I think it was about $8 for the 2 pack.

Candy Kid in Kensington

Thanks for posting. I drove past this place and was very curious!

Rome report - early May 2010 - long

Thank you for your post, Nancy!

ISO YYC Peeled Hard Boiled Eggs

Sunterra has them on their salad bar. I'd give them a call.

Rome, Staying at Sofitel

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I found the past posts and will make my list of places to try.
Re: Breakfast - I guess the hotel will be our best bet if we want more than a pastry. As far as I could tell from our booking breakfast isn't included in the price but I guess we'll find out when we get there.
Reading about all of the lovely things to eat nearly brings a tear to my eye! I can't wait to eat!

Rome, Staying at Sofitel

Sorry, I guess an address would help. It's Via Lombardia 47 and I think the neighbourhood is Via Veneto.

Rome, Staying at Sofitel

Hi,

My boyfriend and I will be going to Italy and will be staying at the Sofitel in Rome for a week. We can't wait! Any recommendations for a nearby place that we can get an inexpensive breakfast, or any recommendations for that area at all?

New to Phoenix - Heard Museum Area

Thanks for all of the suggestions! We ended up being short on time so we onlt stopped at the Farmer's Market. It was great and we got to try a lot of new things though with the heat we were limited with what we could buy. No cheese unfortunately!
We had a great stay in Phoenix and we'll most certainly be back!

New to Phoenix - Heard Museum Area

Thanks! I can't wait to check it out.

New to Phoenix - Heard Museum Area

Hi,

My BF and I are visiting some friends in Phoenix for a few days. Our first stop will be the Heard Museum tomorrow. Are there any interesting markets in that area where we could pick up some snacks or a nice foodie gift?

Thanks!

Bermuda Lifestyle

Thanks for all of the advice!
We're both in the legal field. Yes, the opportunities are limited but it seems like there are at least a few out there. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Bermuda Lifestyle

Thanks for all of the info! My boyfriend and I are looking for work in Bermuda and I'm trying to find out as much as possible.

Bermuda Lifestyle

This does help, thanks! I had read in a few places that very little is grown on the island but it's nice to know that isn't true and that farmer's markets are available.
What about in the way of cooking classes/clubs/foodie networks?

Bermuda Lifestyle

Hi,
I wanted to know if someone would be able to tell me about food available for home cooks in Bermuda. I keep reading that it is expensive and nearly everything is imported. Are there many markets? Any specialty markets? Do people eat out a lot or cook at home?

Opening in Calgary?

Thanks for the report! I've made a reservation there for Dining Out week.

Soft Whole Wheat flour - Calgary

I had recently inquired about King Arthur and was told it's not sold in Canada but can be ordered online.

There is nothing worse than bad cake...

I didn't realize that liking mini cakes (cupcakes) was making me a laughing stock.
