Second attempt: West Texas

I would rather eat at Alicia's in Alpine. The Gage is great; Chef Paul is amazing. I like the Starlight Theatre too; I recommend margaritas and steaks. The Boathouse has a surprisingly good pizza for about three bucks. I also like Kathy's Kosmic Kowgirl Kafe. I think Maiya's is a little overrated; not as good as the Gage, for instance. Also, the Italian just doesn't seem authentic. I post a lot of video about food at my site: http://westtexasweekly.com/

Marfa TX - Fall 2008 update

Sometimes I am not too impressed by Maiya's... sometimes I think the more expensive ingredients are not as fresh as they need to be. I am a big fan of food shark. They are doing a little more tex-mex now (had some very good chicken tacos there). Adobe moon just shut down, hadn't tried the food there. I'm not sure if Blue Javelina is re-opening. Pizza Foundation is good and good value; get the bread salad, fresh croutons from homemade bread and fresh tomatoes. VERY GOOD.

Alpine Texas

IMO, Alicia's and La Casita have the best tex-mex in town. I like Alicia's a little better... especially a cheeseburger with their sublimely potent chile macho. I think the quality of the Reata is sometimes very high-- I especially like their cream of poblano soup. Talgar's has JUST opened up and I had great fish tacos there.
