Blue Elephant (Providence) closed?

My fiancee and I just went to the Duck and Bunny Snuggery for the first time last friday night. It was the name (Snuggery!!) that reeled us in, as we are both fans of cuddling and quirky things....And we were not let down. The restaurant/Bar/Cafe that occupies the space of the former Blue Elephant is a tiny (3 small rooms) bastion of comfort and culinary enjoyment. As my Snuggle-Snot (my pet name for her) and I entered the place, we found ourselves in the 1st room with two chairs, a small couch, and a fireplace. It was just our luck that the two girls seated infront of the fire were just leaving and gave their spot to us. We were told to grab a menu from the front, then just place our order at the bar when ready, but lucking out again the owner (I'm guessing?!) offered to just take our order, as to not have us have to get out of our seats. I ordered dragon green tea and the blue bunny salad (spinich, apple slices, and walnuts, goat cheese), and SS ordered a tropical green tea with their version of a caprese salad. Indulging ourselves we also ordered a strawberry and creme crepe and brie with fig compote. The entire meal was really tasty, but it truely was the atmosphere that put it over the top, we both felt doted on by all the staff and the smell of the fire was intoxicating!!! The only downside I could see was the small nature of the place itself, and my salad could have used a little more depth (I find just spinich a little bland!). All in all a great night for two lowley college students, used to chain restaurants and impersonal service!!!

Breakfast/Brunch ideas in NH....

Hey All, my Amazing fiancee and I finally settled on a place for our wedding to take place, at the top of Loon mtn!!! We've also figured out that we want to have a breakfast/brunch menu for our reception. So, we need any and all help on coming up with some fun/creative/kooky ideas for the menu, and some vendors that may help as well......Thanx again, -J

Bily's Restaurant in Barrington, RI

Hey All, I live in Warren and was just wondering if any foodies have been to Billy's in barrinton yet? I heard about it through the RI monthly awards, and am curious about the place! I searched for the menu online, but no such luck.....Please help me out, Jay.

Exotic Fruits

Hey All!! I am getting bored with apples, bananas, cantalope, strawberries, blackberies, Etc... that the chain stores seem to carry by the ton, yet I find myself yearning for more exotic fare. I am wondering if there is a market around RI/Southeastern MA that may have PawPaws, Passion Fruits, Prickely Pears, Lyechees, huckelberries, and other harder to find fruits of the Gods?! Can anyone out there in chowhound-ville help me out?? Thanx!

Private Chef on Block Island?!

Just an update.... I set the date to ask her for May 16th, I was really hoping to have the dinner on the beach, or atleast have a catered picnic basket waiting there for us.....but it looks like no luck for that...Oh well. Does anyone know if any of the restaurants on the island have private dining rooms where the menu can be preselected!!

JoJo's Country Market- Teriyaki Steak

Hey Guy's and girls, I have a big Question about the teriyaki steak available at jojo's in Meridith,NH...I had it last year during the 4th of July when I went up to visit with friends. This steak was the most amazing stuff I've ever tried, and I was wondering if it was only available there, it seems like they are only open during the summer, and if anyone had the recipe-or similar?!!! SOOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!

Who makes the best Tiramisu in RI?

Hi All!!! I just had a question on who makes the best Tiramisu in the Rhode Island/ Southeastern Mass area?! My girlfriend really likes tiramisu, but says that alot of places make it wrong by using cream or cheaper ingredients in the dessert instead of marscapone..... Funny enough though is that she thinks BJ's wholesale has really good tiramisu, so?! I don't know, but I wanna get some soon!!!!

Private Chef on Block Island?!

I just bought the ring, but am planning for atleast a few months from now either september this year, or may next year as to keep away from the summer crowds and to keep costs down of staying there at peak season....Plus we are both students and intend to wed only after we have both graduated (2010-2011 for the ceremony). I could go either way, picnic style or something simple made on the beach....Thanks for any and all help!!!!

Private Chef on Block Island?!

Hey All, although I am a faithfull chowhound reader(daily!), this is my first time posting on the chowhound board. I am about to ask the woman of my dreams to marry me, just bought the ring and everything!!! YAY! And I have an elaborate (spelling?!) idea of how I want to propose, a long day spent on block island, sunsets, etc...lol But, I wanted to end the day with a nice romantic dinner on the beach cooked up by a private chef. I thought that I had once seen one of the hotels on the island offering something of that nature, but now I cannot seem to find that info anywhere....If not, does anyone have helpful advice for this hapless romantic?!! Also, cost is somewhat of an issue as I am still a college student, so I can only afford 400-650 for the event.....THANX
