Lameloise: Lunch vs Dinner

i couldn't say, I only went for the first time about 2 years ago (or maybe 3?)

Lameloise: Lunch vs Dinner

The restaurant changed hands a few years ago, I can only imagine it was after you went.

The service is one of the reasons I love it so much - by far the least 3* of any 3* I've been to (in France at any rate). The first time I went it was because it was the only place we could find that would let us in wearing shorts; something Troisgros is certainly not happy with.

Lameloise: Lunch vs Dinner

I think so, although as I rarely eat cheese in restaurants I couldn't swear on it.

Lameloise: Lunch vs Dinner

Lameloise is superb. I have only been for lunch (although have supper booked in a couple of weeks). The lunch menu is good value, but only if you want what it has on it!

Tempura Restaurant and sushi restaurant

i went to Yokota a couple of years ago (in the old location). It was superb

Hidden Barcelona Sushi Find- OMG AMAZING

Just eaten here.

Overall good, certainly high quality fish. The only two problems I had were that I prefer a bit more seasoning on my rice, and he grated some lime zest over the top of some of the nigiri, which somewhat overwhelms subtle sushi.

I did have a couple of bits of toro though, which were ENORMOUS. We are talking double sized nigiri. It was also proper o-toro, none of this chu-toro nonsense! It had some sort of drizzled sauce on the top, which I must admit was very good. Certainly the best toro I have eaten in europe.

Tea Horse

Yup, it's pretty good if youre into that sort of stuff. some very tasty, others more "interesting"! Good value too

St John Bread and Wine...lunch or dinner?

there's no specific difference between them

Sapporo food blogs and or restaurant review sites?

great, i'm glad you enjoyed it so much!

I quite agree that chefs are always looking to cook outside the simple categories. That applies here, and it why it is not French cuisine. If you said "French inspired" cuisine, then we would be in agreement.

yes, we did also have the hot tea

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

i had a cold tea with the meal, I think it might have come in a bottle, but I can't quite remember.

If I remember correctly, the tea was Y1000 per glass when I went - at least that is what they charged me

don't forget to let us know what you thought of it!

is it not normally minced chicken?

fujitori is on the road between S4W6 and S4W5, http://g.co/maps/3ekh8 , right in the centre (ふじとり)

Wow, I'm very glad that someone else enjoyed this place as much as me. I only found it completely by accident on the first night I was in Sapporo several years ago, but make a point of going back every time I'm there.

I think I have had most of the different parts of chicken they offer - can't say I am a big fan of gizzard in Japan, they like it crunchy, and I like it soft! The tsukune is outstanding, I only had it because I asked for a recommendation and that is what came back.

Have you ever had better yakitori elsewhere - if so, please let me know so I can try it out!?

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

I do not know of any restaurants in France which serve food like you will find at AdeT. Assuming this is correct, how could it possibly be a "french" restaurant if it is one of a kind?

The chef may well use french cuisine as inspiration, but so do countless other chefs all over the western (and eastern) hemispheres.

If I had to classify the cooking here I would probably call it Modern European. I don't believe it can fit into a specific country's cuisine as the style is too new to have a home, if indeed it ever does.

more like 10 seats

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

They may use some french ingredients, but that certainly does not make it French cuisine. I go to France several times a year (I only live 50 miles away) and I have never seen anything remotely like Aronia there!

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

it is certainly not french IMO

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

16,20 or 24k depending on 7,9 or 11 courses (beginning of 2011 prices)

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

i can't remember. I just had thought it was probably free (maybe naively) but it certainly wasn't!

L.A. 'Hound reports back: Aronia de Takazawa, Tokyo [LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS]

good review. I loved Aronia too, although I had a bit of a shock when the bill came as I hadn't expected a service charge or to be charged so much for tea!

The truffle cheesecake is something I will remember for a very long time.

(a very anal point here - they can do three tables, as they did when I ate there)

Kai Mayfair [London]

many (5?) years ago - it was pretty good

Great restaurants and pubs in Cambridge

I went to le gros franck recently. Sadly it fits in with all the other restaurants in the area, and I won't be going back. Had a truly terribly rabbit terrine that had bits in it that were uncuttable and certainly inedible; never had anything like it before! We also had an oxtail stew which was pretty tasty, but I could have made it at home, and what's the point in paying £15 for that?

Great restaurants and pubs in Cambridge

well by all means try it, maybe you will love it! The only reason I can give for the high ratings is Emperors New Clothes syndrome.

Midsummer house is pretty good if you don't mind the £. It has one major problem though; EVERY dish is sweet, or has a sweet element. I don't mind that in a few dishes, but when you have amuse bouches, pre starter, starter, main course x 5, pre desert and desert, and they are ALL sweet it i a bit much. It must be good for some people's palates (I found Lindsay house to be the same) but last time I went with my wife and parents and we all felt the same.

Suggestions for Cambridge?

I live in Newton.

The Queen's Head is a really nice place, which is almost entirely down to its atmosphere. I enjoy eating there, but if the food was served in a run of the mill pub it certainly wouldn't be shouted about as much!

Great restaurants and pubs in Cambridge

Unfortunately, I think "Great restaurants in Cambridge" is a bit like "Great French military victories"; they just don't really exist. Any review of a restaurant here really has to be appended with "for Cambridge" - i.e. Midsummer house is a good restaurant, for Cambridge. I'm sure that if it were in London there is no possible way it would be two michelin starred (one, perhaps).

IMO Alimentum is really sub par, it seems to me that the chef has ideas well above his culinary skill (this from two visits).

The Wrestlers is very disappointing, I think Sala Thong is much better - it is a good Thai restaurant (FC).

The Chophouse is decent but unspectacular, and better than it's sister, the St John's Chophouse.

I kept on hearing great things about the Oak Bistro, what a waste of time that was! Never again.

The Three Horseshoes is nice, but a little inconsistent. I've even there several times, and had some really good stuff, and some average. Certainly one of the better places to try out.

Am going to try out Le Gros Franck soon, fingers crossed.

Sorry for such a negative post, but I grew up in Cambridge and have spent 20 years of my life in the area, it's very depressing from a restaurant POV!

Ordering in a yakitori restaurant

That's great, I will have to try one of these out next time I am in Tokyo.

I should also point out that I did enjoy Fuku, just not as much as I had anticipated. It is very tourist friendly I would agree.

One place that I had better yakitori was a random shop I found in Sapporo called Fujitori. It does not do anything fancy, just cooks chicken incredibly well - so tasty and juicy! I ate here and at Fuku within a few days, and I know which I will be going back to...

Ordering in a yakitori restaurant

We thought Fuku was quite nice, but didn't really live up to expectations - I've had better in other cities. there must be other places in Tokyo that people here rate higher?
