Ideas for restaurants around 58th and 8th avenue

The new Blue Ribbon at Hotel Columbus, Landmarc or Bouchon Bakery in Time Warner Center, Rosa Mexicano

Need thoughts on P*Ong

I thought the drinks were great but the food was very tasteless. Tiny tasting plates did not add up to a big enough dinner for us (we went for pizza after!). That being said it is getting stellar reviews, though I have no idea why.

Best Upper East Side Delivery Places

BBQ for bbq (great value, kids love it), Tony Di Napoli's for chicken a la tony, Pio Pio, Buritoville, Vermicelli for asian noodles, Luigis for pizza and basic Italian, Jackson HOle for Burgers

Thanksgiving Dinner in NYC

Cafe Gray is doing a huge blowout event, pretty high end but friends of ours were there last year for the parade and said it was awesome. They will have breakfast , entertainment, cooking demos hors d'oeuvres and early dinner. They have a viewing area for the parade in the private room so it all day and VERY $$$ but
if I had the money I would do it!

"Dentists" Dinner Party of 30

You most likely will need a private room for a group that large. 21 Club, The Modern, Cafe Gray, Porter House, Le Cirque, Gilt

good places that say NEW YORK, NEW YORK for not-too-adventurous tourists

I would do high tea somewhere, Pierre or Carlye hotel. Small french restaurant like Gascogne, modern cuisine like Red Cat, pizza at Patsy's in Brooklyn and then Ice Cream at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. Chinatown (I like New Green Bo), Payard for desserts, call around to some of the "big name" restaurants to see if there is prix fixe lunch at that time (lunch is a better bargain if you want to splurge on a fancy deal)

good places that say NEW YORK, NEW YORK for not-too-adventurous tourists

I think the food is good but it would have to be dipped in gold for me to stand online for an hour for a burger! If you luck out and there is no waiting go for it...but in my opinion there are other great burgers to be had without the long wait.

il bucco or landmarc for a girls night out next week?

Looking for something downtown, about 6 ladies celebrationg 40th birthday. Some conservative eaters.

I find the food to be excellent and I love the room. I think it is highly underrated. Love the Bento Box lunches there. I hear brunch is fantastic as well.

Special anniversary dinner without BREAKING THE BANK??

Le Refuge or Gascogne for dinner or LeBernardin for lunch

Suenos last night

I was running a good 15 minutes late for our reservation, I called and they said they were not sure they could hold our table but would do thier best. When I got there the host said there was no such call and he was not sure what he could do. We ordered a drink and a minute later he came back to say he had a table, now.
Great!

He asked us to settle up, "right now". We waited for the barteneder to get the attention (not even a full moment) and he screamed out in frustration "what did you have?" we told him the two drinks we had and he looked them up on the menu and said to "pay $20 and then carry (as in we carry) your drinks to the table or I will have to give it to another guest". He then repeated the word NOW!

Do I expect to much of a neighborhoold place or is this just terrible service?

FYI, the wait staff was okay if a little hard to understand. The food was really great but I can't say that I will be back anytime soon.

Has anyone been to Il Bucco lately?

Was thinking of taking a group of friends there for dinner. They are from the 'burbs and a little on the conservative side. I enjoyed Il Bucco years ago but have not been there in a long while and I know there have been many chef's since then. Any recent experiences?

Mom in town - where to go for a nice dinner ($300 tops for 2)

Try Cafe Gray, unstuffy atmosphere and great food.

Bouchon Bakery?

The must try is the Salmon Rillette. Fabulous and worth the calories

Child friendly restaurant to celebrate an adult birthday

I am looking for a place for an early dinner Sunday night that we can bring 3 kids to (1, 6, & 8). I don't want to go to a kiddie place and loathe taking kids to a restuarant where they could disturb someone elses dining experience. My brother's birthday is September 11 and he has gotten the raw deal on his birthday for the last five years for obvious reasons...

Periyali

Try Ithaka on e 86th Street, I think it is just as good as Periyali but less pricey and more low key.

UES Restaurant Good For Groups
