Just wanted to recommend two taquerias - Quetzally on Fitzwater between 12th and 13th, and Mole Poblano on 9th near Ellsworth.

Quetzally, in particular is a little under the radar, on a block next to a church where you might not give it a second look. Do yourself a favor, order a bunch of stuff, invite some friends over, and stuff your face with some of the best guacamole, tacos, sopes and tostadas in town.

Bistro Jeanty, Girl and the Fig or Somewhere Else?

Visiting hound from Philadelphia looking for a third dinner to fill out a short trip to Napa. We're eating at Bottega and Redd on our second and third nights, and are looking for a Sunday dinner spot.

Is there a consensus on which of these two French spots is superior? We're a 30 year old couple travelling out West for our 5th anniversary. Has the Sunday Supper at Press gotten positive reviews? Thanks for your help!

Anyone been to Lolita recently?

There's also a liquor store right around the corner too, at 1218 Chestnut. It's open until 9:00 every night but Sunday.

BEST corn and blueberry muffin in Philly?

Blue in Green on 12th and Chestnut. They have an awesome blueberry muffin, and a blueberry corn muffin that is really good too. Also, homemade croissants and apple and guava turnovers.

New Years Eve Takeout in Center City

It's just going to be my wife and I staying in tonight with our sick 10 month old, and I wanted to pick up some high-end takeout for dinner.

I had thought of Morton's or Susanna Foo, but was wondering if there were any places that you knew did takeout especially well.

Fogo de Chão or another Churrascaria?

In Center City you're either going to Fogo or Chima. Between the two, Fogo is the easy choice.

For about half the price, you can go to Picanha on Castor Ave. in the Northeast. Authentic and good, but with less frills than the Center City churrascarias.

Casual Earlyish Breakfast Sun AM near Art Museum

I'm running a 5K tomorrow on Kelly Drive and a bunch of us (10-15 people) are looking to grab a quick, casual breakfast after the race, probably around 9-9:30.

Does anyone know somewhere around the Art Museum that will be open, and could probably accomodate our group without too long a wait?

I would head over to Sabrina's on Callowhill but I'm guessing it's jammed around that time, and Memphis Taproom isn't open until 11.

If anyone has a suggestion that requires a little bit longer drive, I'll take it too!

New resturant in Wilmington - Ameritage Bistro

Oh. They came up when I searched Open Table for breakfast places. Maybe just a glitch in their system.

L'Angolo v. Cucina Forte

No problem at either. In fact, no problem at 95% of Philly restaurants.

Las Bugambilias

Thanks for the info. I have always liked the food, although it does seem like they are catering to bachelorette and other large parties the last couple of times there.

Do you mind expanding on your thoughts on Molcajete Mixto? I've been a fan the 3-4 times I went, but haven't been since the summer.

great tacos in CC

I was not impressed with the menu (4 or 5 items, seriously), or the kitchen's product when I ate as Jose Pistolas. The food was bland, and not very good at all.

Breakfast on the Drive from SEA to VAN

My wife and I are are leaving Seattle early next Monday to get to Vancouver. Are there any recommendations for breakfast places along the way. We wouldn't mind leaving the highway for a few minutes if there is anywhere particularly good!

Molcajete Mixto: Give it a Shot

My wife and I had a great "Cuatro de Mayo" dinner at MM on Friday night. There were a few larger parties there, and it seemed relatively crowded for most of the night. (We spent the better part of two hours there finishing our second margarita pitcher).

The salsa verde was great, the tortilla chips warm, and the pico de gallo was fresh and above average.

We started with the nachos (good but standard) and huitlacoche quesadilla, which was good, but made better with some of the salsa verde. The quesadilla was also fried crisp.

My wife had the enchiladas suizas, which, having polished them off for lunch today, I can say are absolutely delicious. Tender chicken, homemade flour tortillas, yum.

I had the eponymous dish, the molcajete mixto, described above. I thought the grilled skirt steak was the standout of the dish. The corn tortillas, queso fresco (is that what the soft white cheese is?), and spicy tomatillo sauce were all really good. The sauce has a bite to it, which I like, but my wife liked her more mild enchiladas.

We passed on dessert but were brought some fresh fruit on ice with the check. Total bill with 2 appetizers, 2 mains and 2 margarita pitchers was just under $60

new amada?

While Tinto is run by Garces, there is going to be a taqueria called Chilango in University City. The above linked article metions a tortilla press, margarita bar, and a walk-up taco window.

Hamburger and Hot Dog Rolls

With the warm weather now upon us, I have fired up the grill a few times to make some cheeseburgers and other charred meats.

I'm looking for something beyond the Pepperidge Farm or potato rolls that (while delicious), lack a certain something, or maybe they have it in the form of preservatives.

So, does anyone have a favorite hamburg or hot dog roll, preferably fresh baked?

Gianfranco Pizza

Walking the dog, I see that a new Gianfranco Pizza is getting ready to open on 11th Street, between Spruce and Pine.

I've had the Gianfranco in Old City, which I really liked, and I am 90% sure that there is another Gianfranco down on South Broad.

Are the two existing Gianfranco's related, and is this 3rd store related to both of them, or is this a "Famous Ray's" situation like in New York?

Taco House Gone

The Taco House on Pine, between 11th and 12th is gone, replaced by Cafe Centraal, which advertises itself as "Mexican and Mediterranean", for what it's worth.

Apple Cider and Apple Cider Doughnuts

Does anyone know where I can find unpasturized cider around Philadelphia? At college this was the time when we would head over to the Cornell Orchards and load up on it.

Also, in a less healthy but equally tasty vein, does anyone know where I can find fresh (maybe even hot) apple cider doughnuts?
