Group Meal Downtown/Penn Quarter
You know, my niece just came back from Ethiopia and I am interested, but I'm not sure about the 7 other diners, thank you though.
Group Meal Downtown/Penn Quarter
Thank you all for your input. Jeserf, I always try to stay away from sampling, unless there is cheese or pate involved. I have lots of meetings and work to keep me from the "buffet". I live near NYC, in NJ. I do like Carmines and Hill Country, but want something unique to DC. I really think that Jose Andres is a great restauranteur and enjoy going to his restaurants when I can. I was disappointed when Cafe Atlantico became America Eats, until I really enjoyed America Eats last year. I am nixing Graffiato because we are going to Fiola and I want to spread my ethnic eating experiences around. I would try Jaleo, but hear that a reservation may be hard to come by, especially because we don't know when it is reopening. The lineup so far:
Fiola, Oyamel and Rasika. I have 1 more night to reserve, Sunday night. Elyssa, I will look into Sei. Please keep your sugggestions coming.

Thank you, I cancelled Ping Pong. Both Graffiato and Sixth Engine look good for a smaller party, but the menus are limited for so many people (some don't read meat or shellfish etc). FYI - America Eats is closing the week after the food show. I heard the entire restaurant will become "Minibar". I hope so.
Group Meal Downtown/Penn Quarter
great idea, called Oyamel and have to call back in two weeks for June.
Any thoughts on Asian Spice? It has a 21 in Zagat...
Group Meal Downtown/Penn Quarter
I will be in DC for the Fancy Food Show in June. I am looking for a good restaurant to take 7 people.
I will be going to Rasika and Fiola, love them both. This particular meal will be on me, so I am looking for good atmosphere, good food and good price point. I originally thought of America Eats Tavern, I loved it last year, but don't want to spend that much. I took the crew to Central last year, too expensive and not worth it IMO. I reserved a table at Ping Pong Dim Sum, but there seem to be a lot of haters on the boards, so please help me out.
Thank you
Holiday Lunch Near Penn Station
I wanted to get back to everyone. Artisanal was good, everyone was happy.
It was very loud though, I had asked for a corner table, thinking it may have been a bit quieter. Needless to say we were in the middle of the noisy room. My budget was blown, with the added gratuity for a party of 6+, lunch was $90 pp. We ordered 2 bottles of Sancerre and 2 desserts. Oh well, I guess it's the holidays for everyone...

Thank you everyone, I am going with Artisanal. It is just a few blocks from Penn Station. I was there once years ago and found it OK. The menus should please most everyone and doing the fondue thing should be very bonding for colleagues or gross.....
Opinions - please.

Holiday Lunch Near Penn Station
thank you, I looked at their web site and but it looks that a table of 8 will be a long loud table.
We can go a few blocks in any direction. Keens does seems a little meaty for lunch and Nick & Stefs is just meh. Please keep the suggestions coming.
Holiday Lunch Near Penn Station
It is only lunch and I won't be ordering expensive wines....
This is a basic cosmo crowd.
Holiday Lunch Near Penn Station
Budget approx $50 pp. People are coming from Connecticut and PA. I really want to make this convenient for them. So, kathryn, rcc and phil, are you telling me that Keen's is a better choice?
Holiday Lunch Near Penn Station
We are hosting a holiday lunch for our small company. Our sales reps will be coming into NYC by train or bus. Any suggestions for a good restaurant? I know about the Korean places, which I would personally enjoy, but I'm concerned that they may be too "outside the box" for this crowd of 8 people. I am thinking of Nick & Stef's, which is ok, but I'm hoping my hounds will come up with something better.
Thanks in advance

Stamford Lunch near Fairway
Thank you for the rec. It was perfect, easy to get to, good service and food. They were serving fried baby artichokes that were amazing. Lightly floured and deep fried fresh, not frozen artichokes. I ordered veal milanese, it was one of the best renditions that I have ever had. My colleagues were all happy with their meals. Thank you again.
Stamford Lunch near Fairway
I do enjoy my chowhound community, thank you for your passion. Taking into consideration the convenience of Cafe Sylvium, that will have to do. Both Casa Villa and Brasitas look more tempting. Yvngai's directions were so helpful. I would rather not have to deal with downtown, if I don't have to.
Thank you, yngvai for your thoroughness.

thank you, yngvai
So which one would you choose, Casa Villa or Cafe Sylvium?
I know they are totally different, both take Amex. If it was just myself, I know that I would go to Casa Villa, but there are 3 others to think of.

thank you both, it's just that Fairway is an account of ours and fortunately, we are in their stores all the time. How far are CV and Cafe Sylvium from Fairway?
Stamford Lunch near Fairway
We are coming to Stamford for a meeting and need a good place for lunch. Looking for good food and decent atmosphere. Casa Villa sounds great, but I think it will be a hassle to find parking.
It's a foodie business lunch, so the restaurant needs to take Amex.
Thanks for any help.

Rasika Reviews?
We were there in July and let the waiter order for us. We had a wonderful meal and we'll sure to go back next July, when we are back in DC for the Fancy Food Show.

Fiola?
We thoroughly enjoyed our entire dining experience at Fiola last night. The service got off to a slow start as we waited a few extra minutes for the somelier. After that small hitch, our party of four had one of the best meals of our lives. From the appetizers to the pastas to then perfectly prepared fish and really inventive and delicious desserts. As food professionals in DC for the Food Show, we have shared meals in many restaurants in many cities, this was a meal we will remember.
Review of Cava in Portsmouth
We ate at Cava tonight and left happy, well fed and well cared for. The staff is attentive, the wine list unusual and the food some of the best of it's genre. Do not hesitate to try this very good tapas restaurant. We will certainly return when in the area.
Sunday afternoon meal around 3PM for 9 people near Park Ave So and 26th
thank you everyone, I am going to try Primehouse...
There are now 11 of us, at Resto I needed to commit to a prix fixe menu that looked really good, but the menu at Primehouse looks extensive and there are no deposits or commitments necessary. That being said, Susan, I do like Punch and forgot all about it, thank you.
I did look at Craftbar's brunch menu, it is too "interesting" for some of my out of town friends. I will totally be going there as soon as I can.

Sunday afternoon meal around 3PM for 9 people near Park Ave So and 26th
I'm looking for suggestions for approximately $25 per person and delicious within a 5 block radius.
Being able to reserve would be good. I was thinking of walking over to FoodParc, but reviews have been scathing. I'm at a loss in this neighborhood at this price range. Sorry for the short notice, but I always get elected. Any help would be appreciated.

Chowhound coming to DC for the weekend
I'm counting on my fellow hounds for a little guidance. I'll be staying near Dupont Circle this weekend. I am looking for meal suggestions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I do plan on going to the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress. I have no definite plans and as a true chowhound I will gladly adjust my itinerary according for deliciousness. The only planned meal is tonight at Cafe Atlantico for a friend's birthday. Thank you in advance.

Pies-N-Thighs reopens
Went there last night! Wish we lived less than an hour away. We had the best fried chicken. We chose greens and grits as our sides and loved them both. Hey CalJack, now that you mention the pork laden greens, you made me realize why I liked them so much. The back room is perfect. The high ceiling makes for good accoustics. I had a White Rascal beer that went perfectly with dinner. We kept watching as people were served items that looked really, really good, but we just couldn't fit anymore. I'll be finding many excuses to go to Williamsburg and eat at Pies n Thighs.
In Austin for a day this week
Oh I believe it, it's just that I fly in in the am and leave the same day. Is the bbq in Lockhart less of a detour than Taylor? Pie and bbq go together like bread and butter, but tell that to the airline...
I'm so glad to be a hound in such good company.
In Austin for a day this week
So, dcbbq and pappyaustin, is this really worth an hour of driving? I did a mapquest and it's about 30 minutes each way. If it is and I have time before my flight, I'm doing it. I just had to ask. I have a 7PM flight, so I'll be there good and early before they run out, hopefully.
How does Johnny T's compare?

And this is me listening, moist brisket it is! That's my second favorite.
Thank you so much.
In Austin for a day this week
I'll be in this week and working in the Round Rock area. I will have time before my flight out of Austin for dinner. I am looking for Barbecue, but don't kill me, I really prefer baby back ribs. I've read that I have to have the doughnuts in Round Rock, so I'm set for breakfast.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you,

BBQ near Prime Outlets Orlando
My son is in Orlando on business today and is looking for BBQ near the outlets for dinner.
He really likes baby back ribs, not St Louis style. Any thoughts? After reading the boards, I think he should go to the Ravenous Pig for generally good food, but he doesn't want to drive that far. I sent him info on Oboys, but I think my fellow Chowhounders can do better...
Thank you
