Looking for a good restaurant pre-marathon
Hello,
We're out of towners planning to run the Delaware&Lehigh Heritage Marathon next weekend. We are staying in Bethlehem the night before the race.
Would anyone be able to recommend a good restaurant in the area that features healthy (ish) food condusive to a pre-race meal? Lean proteins, vegeatrian options, and a generous sampling of carbs would be ideal.
We will also have our kids with us (5, 10, 12). While they are game for anything, I hesitate to bring them to any place that is too 'nice' on a Saturday night as a number of people seem to become child-phobic on the weekends. :)
Thanks in advance.
MICHELLE OBAMA DINES IN MANASSAS VA
I will definitely try Okra's the next time I'm ther- we ususlly stop by the restaurant across from the Old Town theatre space when we visit, so it'll be nice to see what else the area has to offer.
Charlottesville Question: Anything near Monticello?
Thanks for all your help. My mom spends most of her time chasing after my three year old twin nieces, so I think the fitness question won't be an issue....
All of these suggestions are right on the mark- thanks for doing my legwork for me!
Charlottesville Question: Anything near Monticello?
We're driving from DC with the plan to come back late afternoon/early evening. We need to get back because extended family will have descended on my house for the final surprise part of the celebration.
Charlottesville Question: Anything near Monticello?
Hello,
I don't live near Charlottesville, so I'm kind of flying blind....I'm taking my mother to Monticello for her 70th b-day present, and I'd like to find a place for lunch aside from the hot dogs and fries etc. that I'm assuming is ever present.
Is the on sight cafe of any interest? Are there any restaurants nearby? My mother has kind of delicate stomach so anything that is particulary spice laden is out.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Washington, D.C. with kids.
If you cross the Key Bridge on foot ( a nice walk for almost anyone) you'll be in Georgetown- which is a great place to stroll around with a family. I'd rec Pizzaria Paradiso on M street- again a short walk- or you could just buy some interesting take out etc from Dean and De Luca nearby and people watch.
Birthday Cake in Annapolis
Hello- my father in law in turning 80 next week and we hoped to have a cake sent to the restaurant where he is celebrating.
Does anyone know of any good bakeries in the Annapolis area? Would any deliver?
We aren't from the area so I have no idea how to weed out the good from the bad on the internet- any help would be much appreciated.!
Looking for a Special Annapolis Restaurant
My father in law will be turning 80 in two months and we were hoping to find a restaurant with a private room that can hold 20-25 people. Easy enough? Well there are two stipulations...
We would obviously like the place to have a nice atmosphere and good food (of course) but keeping in mind that the food has to please a number of palates from ages 3 to 85. I really want to avoid an enormous menu of mediocre hits from a might -as- well-be-chain "family" restaurant, but I'm open to all suggestions.
The second stipulation, which is non-negotiable, is that the private room must really be a private room where you can shut a door. The reason being that two children in the party are autistic and can occaisionally be loud and there will also be a young adult who has downs syndrome and can also be loud when excited. I've worked in enough restaurants to know that 'private rooms' may just be a corner of a room with pretty curtains to block the view,, so I really want to stress that we need a door so as to not bother other patrons.
I would appreciate any help- none of us are from the Annappolis area (as my father in law is) and we are all flying blind on this.
Thank You!
