How far south will you good for good steamers?
Basil T in Red Bank
Went yesterday during all the rain. Watched the US Open at the bar and had the anti-pasta collection of meats, olives, peppers toasts and breads for 18 USD. It was great and the service was fine. Cozy place on a otherwise bad day. Looks like they have wraps on the menu or specials.
Sam Vera in Marlboro
I drive by every day and they are at least replacing the windows
Marinating your Bloody Marys.
In my youth I bartended and been around dining my whole life. I never heard of things like sherry and OJ in a BM. This is my classic:
vodka (or gin)
high quality tomato juice
celery salt (I like a lot and even dust the rim of the glass)
Tabasco to taste
Lea & Perrin's Worcestershire 2x the Tabasco
horseradish (pure, never creamed) - optional
lemon or lime
clam juice (optional - iat the shore areas near NYC they used to open a clam in the drink before serving)
black pepper - optional

Fried Chicken in Middletown
Whole Foods offers fried chicken. I dont remember it with heavy batter. Might be worth a shot. Acne in Lincroft offers and heavy batter type (5.99 8 pc Monday's). We find it freezes well.
Best Pizza in N.J.
Mr Federici passed away recently. We lived in Freehold for 17 years and had many enjoyable Friday nights at the bar eating the thin crust pizza and a salad.

What to eat in Colts Neck?
I live just north of Lincroft and agree with Crown Palace and Federicci's the rest are pretty ordinary. The Falls just opened and is trying hard. There is a thread on the Falls. The general store is closed I think.

My wife and I are mug club members (we live less than 10 mins away so its convenient).
We never had any thing "bad". The happy hour is nice and you could use it as a free dinner during the week. We rarely get a table and the service is fine. Good place to watch a game when you can get a seat. I see the same folks at the bars each time esp. after work.
What to eat in Colts Neck?
It now The Falls and a lot better. There is a large thread on it.
The Falls tinton falls
My wife and I know the places in the shore area of Monmouth very well. We mostly go to places with a view of the water. The Falls is a welcome addtion. The owners are trying hard in a difficult enviroment and competive area of NJ. Everything we tried is at least "good" if not better. Only had dinner once - mostly go there for apps at the bar. The bar is a good place to watch sports. (largest TV in the area) The people on boths side are friendly. The restaurant is casual/romantic. The manager always comes over to say hi for a few minutes. I have to say I have some bias since we live 10 mins north of the Falls and used to trout fish there. I'd say is worth a 30 to 45 min drive to check it out. I cant say there are bargins on the menu but you get your $$ worth.
The food:
Filet Mignon: mom said best she ever had and she is picky
Onion Soup: very good (I make my own)
Calamari: Excellent
Nachos: good to very good
Duck Confit Quesadilla: good
Seafish app: good to very good - ask for bread
Cuban Sandwitch: good
Crab Cakes: good (the sauce is a biy odd)
Lobster Salad: wife says its top notch ie nothing better
Double Cut Pork Chop: Bro inlaw says very good
