In Need of a Special Suggestion
Hello Hounds,
It's been a looong time since I've written on the forum. After graduating from BC, I moved back to RI and I've been hanging out here ever since.
I need a little help today though. I'll be leaving for St. Maarten this weekend. I'm leaving for med school and I'll be living on the island for the next two years. I have a boyfriend in Boston and we have been dating for 3 years and I want to do a nice blowout dinner with him before i go. I've got $170 exactly and I want to go to a restaurant in the Boston area.
So, what do you experts think? Where should we go? Any recommendations on what to order? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I want to make this a special and fantastic dinner. Thanks you guys in advance.

Will be going to the greater boston area tomorrow. Just curious which places are your favorites. Thank you
Quiet restaurant in Boston or Cambridge?
Ten Tables in JP is always a safe bet for me.

Is there any Frozen Lemonade in Boston?
As a Rhode Islander who lived in Boston for the last 5 years because of college/grad school, I never found anything even resembling Del's. Slush lemonades just don't really exist here. I have found a random outpost of Del's in Bridgewater, but that's about it.
Improper Best Burger - Radius
And it looks like Boston Magazine just named the Sel de la Terre burger "Best Upscale Burger" in Boston for 2010.... ha

Improper Best Burger - Radius
I wasn't impressed with the Craigie burger either and although I have never tried the Radius burger I can't imagine it being better than the one at Sel de la Terre. Perfect medium rare with caramelized onions on fresh bread. I've been back five times and its always great. I go to the location in the Natick mall.

Where to watch the World Cup?
you wouldn't find a fanzone over here in the US like the ones they have in Europe. Sadly, the US just is not that into soccer in comparison to europe or south america.
I was over at Mcgreevy's on boyleston for the England-USA game and it was pretty crazy over there. You have to get in early, however you do have to be 21 to enter
Anthing flies in Newport? [moved from Boston]
Also right by the east side of Providence is Bacaro. Definitely give it a try!

Castle Hill is also lovely in Newport and if you're in Providence... CAV is my current favorite restaurant
Anthing flies in Newport? [moved from Boston]
The absolute best is the Clark Cooke House! And I'm not talking about the Candy store or the Bistro. You have to try the Porch dining menu, which is only available in the summer and the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. I'll put their food up to any restaurant in Boston. I'm going tonight actually so I'll let you know if it's consistent with last year's meal.
The meals are pretty pricey here FYI

What do you mean anything flies in newport? There are some great restaurants there!
I'm a Rhode Islander if you couldn't already tell :)
Heading to Boston this Weekend with a group of friends...love the North End!
I loved Taranta when I went a couple months ago, but that is more on the expensive end of the spectrum.
Stay away from the Barking Crab
That lobster roll is a disgrace.
Someone needs to write a strongly worded letter
Where should I bring college girls on dates?
as a 23 year old girl... tapas places are fun for dates.
NJ Chowhound Needs Some Help
There are loads of restaurants on charles street. And I'm sure they will find the street itself very quaint. Few that come to mind:
75 Chestnut
Lala Rokh
Beacon Hill Bistro
I've gone in casual at all three places and never felt underdressed

Where is the best Indian buffet in the Boston area?
I can't say I even like there menu a la carte. I went twice a couple years ago and never went back.
El Pelon - Tomorrow?
it's official El Pelon is opening tonight at 5.
I guess they are giving out fresh baked rolls for Tortas?

Foie Gras
I had the foie gras at locke ober last saturday and it was perfect, although sometimes the consistency of foie gras freaks me out a little bit. I feel like I'm eating pure fat or something. It's almost like I can slurp it up through a straw when I've had it.
Best North End Pizza for lunch with kids
Aww kids love lines though! Just look at Disney World. ha
Best North End Pizza for lunch with kids
I'm going against the trend and saying Galleria Umberto! Great Sicillian style pizza
Who won the burger bash?
And that is why Sel de La Terre has my favorite burger in Boston! That's usually how they do it at their restaurant (the one in natick, at least). Always unbelievably juicy and blissful ahh. I still put it up over any burger I've had in Boston so far and yes, that does include the Craigie burger. No comparison.
Double Birthday Celebration- Where would you go for dinner if money weren't an object?
from your list it seems like your directing me to places with tasting menus?
Double Birthday Celebration- Where would you go for dinner if money weren't an object?
My dad and I will be celebrating our birthday in two weeks with my mom and brother. We're all very open-minded with food, no dietary/ allergic restrictions, and we just want to go some place where we will be impressed with the fare and service. We want to stick to the Cambridge/ Boston area and again, we have no problems spending x amount of dollars for a great meal on this occasion.
With that said, what do you hounds recommend? I have a feeling I'll be getting some Craigie and O Ya recommendations...just let me know what you guys liked in particular in your recs. Thank you in advance!
Definitely Worth a Try: MJ Sub and Pizza
I've never even heard of this place before last night, but my DC (who's a local in Roslindale) suggested trying the pizza so we made an order ready for pick-up. We ordered a large onion and pepper pizza, as well as a buffalo chicken pizza, and I've gotta say the buffalo chicken pizza has got to be the best of its kind I've ever had. The pie itself wasn't thin or thick crust, just in the middle and the buffalo chicken tenders were cut so finely, the pizza itself just looked sooo appetizing. I'm usually a 2/3 slice kind of girl, but I went on to pretty much eating half the pizza.
MJ Sub and PIzza is located on 330 Belgrade Ave in Roslindale, the number is (617) 327-3465.
Going to Jasmine Bistro Next Week... what should I try?
I would prefer a more traditional wine list as well and I was looking forward to the Bull's Blood! I guess if I want to try that I'll just have to visit a local wine shop.
Going to Jasmine Bistro Next Week... what should I try?
I think the title is pretty self explanatory. I realize it's not authentic hungarian, but I'm willing to try those dishes over the French ones (unless you recommend I have to go with a French dish). Thank you all!
Nothing 'Wow's" me lately..how about you?
I had a killer panini at Audubon on Beacon street two nights ago. Sometimes that's all it takes.
