Chicken Fried Steak on Long Island

Grand Lux Cafe next to the Roosevelt Field Mall...I haven't personally had it, but there is always someone around me who is eating it when I'm there and they seem happy...

Red Velvet Cake in the West Village

Two Little Red Hens is excelllentttt...their bakery is on the Upper East Side somewhere, but if you can get it at Balducci's I would highly recommend. Magnolia (unfortunately) uses buttercream frosting on their Red Velvet instead of the much preferred and much more authentic cream cheese frosting...

Where can I get a huge italian sub/hero sandwich for superbowl?

How 'bout Garden of Eden? I think they have this as an option on their catering menu??? Not really old school, but their regular deli sandwiches are pretty good...

Chocolate-covered cheerios

I have made the JT toffee/chocolate/powdered sugar almonds that he sells at the store from his cookbook. In that recipe, you actually temper the chocolate and then stir the caremelized nuts in the chocolate until they are coated, then poor them onto parchement to dry. If you are going to put them in the 10x or cocoa powder, you do it when the chocolate on the nuts is wet. Soooo, I'm thinking you could stir the cheerios into the chocolate (just make sure you don't have too much chocolate so they don't get glumpy) and then proceed with the cocoa powder, or just dry on parchment.

JT has a big machine at his chocolate 'factories' that tumble the cheerios or nuts with chocolate so I'm thinking you could, too...My tip would be to add the chocolate little by little until they are coated...

good luck!

Easy skillet meals

I have this cookbook...Cover and Bake from the Editors of Cook's Illustrated and it has a ton of great skillet recipes that are really quite good (and flexible if you are missing ingredients and have some imagination)...a great cookbook to have on hand.

Recommended Indian cookbook?

Julie Sahni's Classic Indian Cooking. It's not showy, it doesn't have any color pictures but it is incredibly thorough and informational. Also the recipes don't assume you know anything about Indian cooking so it takes you step by step. I've made some really good meals from this book. It's a classic.

Pizza in Park Slope??

But you know what is sooo annoying (and sneaky) about La Villa delivery???? They charge a delivery fee of around $3 bucks which I found to be completely ridiculous considering their food is overpriced anyway... COME ON!

Post Wedding Lunch for around 10 people

Danube...very special. It would certainly be a memorable meal. My husband and I went for restaurant week awhile back and it was fabulous, so I would imagine a 'regular' menu would be fantastic.

Where can I find yuba?

City Bakery on 5th ave and 19th st. in Manhattan also used to make an interesting salad with yuba, edamame and some other asian green which I liked a lot. They change their salads frequently/sometimes daily but I bet if you called the chef would tell you when they were making it next.

The Orchard, Mas (Farmhouse), August, Salt, Applewood - which one?

I was at Salt a couple of weeks ago and it was reallyyyyy loud in there---probably not too romantic to be yelling at your spouse at a communal table. The food was quite good there; i had salmon that was perfectly cooked medium rare but perhaps go there for a more everyday meal.

Birthday Cake Recommendations - Cobble Hill

How about Villabate in Bensonhurst? Totalk kitch appeal and I had an amazing 'cannoli' cake from there for my baby shower...it was awesome...vanilla cake, filled with cannoli cream and had little canollis all around the edge. If you can't tell, I LOVE cannolis. Villabate also has amazing pastries and all very reasonable. The cake we got was around 30 bucks I think and fed 25 generously.
