Why is pizza glorified so much?
Pizza was a family take out or delivered treat we had growing up esp on a friday night
i do the same now but also in the summer after doing work on our house or gardening all day we dont want to cook or go out
during the winter on a snowing night, order a pizza start a fire and were good
pizza in ca never had it
but chg pizza or ny pizza is the bomb - not a garden pizza, otherwise get a salad

i like the chicken and shrimp
corn and fries are not bad
the way i see it it is not perfect fish or shrimp but it is fast food or on the go seafood and not bad for the price
had one near my house in the mid 1990s and i ate there all the time during lent

been to it but not thrilled about having to pay an entrance fee to walk aound and i have to pay for my food as well
i prefer to attend the Italian fest on South Oakley in June or Greektown fests in Greektown no fee to get into these, can bring own coolers with water or soda food prices are good too
we attended all when we were single and since with our family
also they are better than taste of Chicago - less people and better prices
Bulk spices
There use to be a place on randolph near halsted that sold bulk spices not sure about tea , only thing cash only - looked like a warehouse - dont know if they are still there not sure if they take checks
Italian Sausage Source Needed
theres a place in maywood a little store and butcher you can call ahead for the sausage they even have it with the peppers in it
the name leaves me but starts with a z - if they are still around they were a little store

Easter brunch in western suburbs
I have been to 2 different Harry Carays for easter brunches and they are both great one was around O Hare and one in oakbrook area i think
kids loved it and the adults loved it too
The one at O Hare even had the easter bunny visit, great for the kids
tried Dine one year in greek town but they did a better mothers day brunch than easter
i vote for Harry's - you can dress up or go a little casual

My husband found Jims while attending UIC - followed his nose and found Jims after class one day
whenever were in the area we always stop at Jims
never tried Express... no desire, Jims is the bomb

Jewel food store has some decent fried chicken, used a pan for a party already

Fish Keg chicken report
I dont know if the Keg is still there but we always stopped there for shrimp and took the bag to the beach - bought them by the pound more so during lent. they were great
another good shrimp store was a place around montrose and central in chicago - they had a 1/2 price sale there one day and they were to die for

lived in chi town all my life and Mannys is not the best, corned beef was dry, bread was dry and not piled high i have not returned in three years

one thing that use to be nice about NY Bagel was they use to be open 24 hr a day but they did not take credit cards - bummer
i dont know what their hrs are today or if they now accept cc's but this is 2009

I have to say i have been to a few places mentioned and I think the best is Barnum and Bagel for a pizza bagel - to die for!!!
