Kauai Trip Report (long)

We were on Kauai in 2006. Polynesia Cafe had some tasty lunches as described in original post. The ginger lemonade is very, very gingery. Ask for a small taste before you order it.
Hanalei Mixed Plate (right in front of Polynesia Cafe) had good plate lunch: Kalua pig and cabbage, ginger chicken, etc.
Koloa Fish Market in Koloa town (just up the road from Poipu Beach area) was all locals and had great authentic Hawaiian plate lunch and other specialties (poke, lomi lomi salmon, lau lau, chicken long rice, haupia coconut dessert, etc).
Another favorite was Caffe Coco in Kapa'a. Order at the counter, sit at plastic tables under a tent in a gravel parking lot. The seared ahi with wasabi cream, sesame rice and salad with Asian dressing was great. Live music several nights per week makes it a really great experience. We liked the dive type setting.
Bali Hai restaurant in Princeville: the food is nothing special, but you pay for the view (which is very nice).

ISO the best Sunday night dinner option (Richmond, VA)

If you like Cuban food try Kuba Kuba on Park Ave. They're open for dinner on Sundays. It's a small neighborhood place, nothing fancy, but good Cuban food.
If you like Cuban, want a little more upscale and bigger menu, and can go on a Tues - Sat night try Havana '59. Big portions, great Cuban food, both traditional and some more inventive Cuban-inspired creations.
