Where can i get El Yucateco Habanero Hot Sauces in NYC?

All the supermarkets on Avenue C and D sell a ton of hot sauces and they are not crazy marked up like at specialty stores and bodegas.

Japanese Curry Rice

Curry-ya and Ichibantei are my picks in the East Village

HAND PULLED NOODLE SHOP 东方兰州拉面 (SHENG WANG) YET ANOTHER TO HIGHLY CONSIDER IN YOUR QUEST FOR GOOD CHINESE NOODLES

I had this last week and really enjoyed it, despite the beef being on the gristly side, it was still very tender and moist.

Pita Joe

That's a shame, I really liked the food here.

Looking for "old school" restaurants with old fashioned American comfort food

The places that are coming to mind are: Eisenberg's, Paul's Da Burger Joint, B&H Dairy, and Stage Restaurant. All very low-key countertop eating. Maybe Shopsin's would be a good choice for you too.

Zaab-Elee, new Thai in the east village, now the best Thai in NYC, perhaps.

I agree, I'm not usually one to order chicken given the choice, but the Kai Larb was very moist and delicious.

There's a New Knish in Town

I'd definitely like to try these. Are they going to be sold anywhere on a regular basis or just at fairs like Hester Street?

Cheap, Healthy, and Filling Meals

Good idea, don't know why I always forget about this place.

Bonito Flakes?

I'd guess that Sunrise Mart or M2M would carry this.

Cheap, Healthy, and Filling Meals

I do like Mooncake, the Soho one is near my office.

Dig Inn is too much toward being healthy at the sacrifice of being delicious I think.

Cheap, Healthy, and Filling Meals

I'm realizing I should have a healthy meal from time to time. My definition of healthy is pretty loose. Things I've been eating that I qualify as healthier choices include sushi, Ukrainian (such as Stage Restaurant and B&H Dairy), Falafel Sandwiches, Ramen Soup, Soba. I've kind of run out of ideas for myself though.

My goal is to keep the meals under $10 and should be very tasty and filling. I'm not a big fan of making salad an entire meal either.

Neighborhoods of preference include: East Village, Lower East Side, Chinatown, Gramercy, Soho, West Village. But, I'm open to recommendations in other area too.

Anyone tried Hot Kitchen on 2nd Ave?

I stopped in this weekend for the lunch special. Lunch is a fantastic deal. Main course, soup, and rice choice for $7, all large portions and very delicious.

For my meal I had Double Cooked Pork, Hot & Sour Soup, and Vegetable Fried Rice. The Hot & Sour was one of the spicier versions I've had and I enjoyed it. The Double Cooked Pork was excellent, especially over the rice. It was loaded with chili oil and seeds, peppers and thinly sliced pork belly.

Social Eating

Bar eating seems like a great idea, I know what you mean about the no-eye-contact thing at communal tables.

Social Eating

I'm trying to come up with places where it would be easy to talk to and meet people while eating. My first though is places with communal tables such as Spitzer's Corner or Momofuku Noodle Bar. Any other ideas?

Cheap Sushi near East Village or LES

3 Rolls for $10 lunch specials isn't terribly hard to find. Instead I'm looking for 3 Rolls for $10 (or as close as we can get) dinner specials. Neighborhood preference is East Village, Lower East Side, or nearby.

So far I've found Kumo (13th and A) and Nagasaki Sushi (Broome and Eldridge). What other great sushi deals are out there?

really good tripe or tongue anywhere between East 60s and Astor Place?

If you head east a bit towards Alphabet City there's lots of good Latino joints that serve Mondongo (Tripe Soup) such as La Isla on 14th and B or El Rinconcito on 10th and C.

BEST RAMEN AT MISOYA

I came on Sunday during lunch and had their lunch special. I was gonna try the Mame Ramen, but they were out so I go the Kome Ramen. I really enjoyed it.

It came with a Chicken Karage which was incredibly moist chicken and the fried outside is both moist and crispy. Tasty sweet sauce on top too.

I thought the Kome Ramen was really hearty amazing Ramen. Large portion of everything. Nice perfectly chewy, wavy noodles. Thick, pork heavy broth. Had corn, bamboo, ground meat, and interestingly potato wedges.

Excellent new Ramen option for the neighborhood, but they gotta do something about the music... a jazzy version of "My Favorite Things" from The Sound Of Music was on repeat the whole time.

Yeah I can't find it on a menu either... maybe it's an off-menu item? In any case, here's a promo video for the challenge: http://aol.it/pFqdO6
