Breakfast places in Atlantic City NJ
If you want to think outside the box consider Whitehouse Subs. Makes for an awesome breakfast.
Burgers
I've been to the Liberty on and off since the mid-70's. Never had the burger. My fave is the sausage parmesan sandwich. Tell them to serve the roll on the side, because you'll never finish it. The tomato and cheese are top notch, as is the sausage. Its served with fries.
Chef Gordon Ramsey @ Mike & Nellis, OceanTwp.
Our family lived near Mike's dad Nelson in Middletown for many years. Nelson was excellent at running the front of the house. Always friendly and chatting/joking with the customers. Many of the regulars loved being around Nelson, but Mike always stayed in the kitchen.
Once Nelson passed away there was no one to fill his role in the restaurant. Thats was Mike's first mistake. He needed someone to run the front end of the house after his dad was gone. In addition its clear that Mike was not able to cope without his dad around. In spite of Chef Ramsey's facelift on the restaurant if they want to succeed they need to fix Mike, or Mike needs to step aside and let someone else run the kitchen.
Rooneys Long Branch. Really?
Savvy diners in Northern Monmouth County know that Rooney's is a much better choice for lunch rather than for dinner. Lunch prices are quite reasonable and the ocean view is terrific.
Best Italian Hot Dogs in NJ??
Best I've had is Charlie's Hot Dogs in Kenilworth. Don't try to eat it in the car while driving down the GSP.

Newark airport Terminal C>> Food to bring on plane
latefordinner,
I believe that liquids need to be inside the 3 oz bottle. No such rule for turkey sandwiches and a banana. I make the sandwich just before leaving home for the airport and put it in a clear plastic bag. Of course I use mustard instead of mayo and put it in my carry bag. I've flown thru EWR, Tampa and other cities and never had a problem, even when they went thru the contents of my carry on.
I've sat next to people who bring on fast food like Mickey D's and BK. Believe me, do your neighbors a favor and bring something from home that is less odiferous. Grain bars, crackers and carrots are also good snacks to bring with you on a flight. IfSecurity gives you a problem, tell them that Scrappy said it was OK.
Newark airport Terminal C>> Food to bring on plane
I've gotten into the habit of making a gourmet type turkey or RB sandwich at home and bringing it on the plane. You can bring an empty water bottle through Security and just fill it up from a fountain once inside. If you have multiple travelers this will save quite a bit on your budget. And when you open your sandwich on the plane you'll be the envy of those around you.

Danny's Steakhouse, Red Bank
I've heard some good things about Steakhouse 85 in new Brunswick. Not Monmouth or Ocean but not too far away.
Need help with 'halfway' meeting point off Turnpike
Another vote for Harold's Deli/Restaurant right off Exit 10 in Raritan Center. Everyone will have plenty of leftovers to bring home. I dare you to finish one piece of the chocolate cake split four ways.
Mike and Nellies- Owner Mike just doesn't care about his customers! Don't go here.
I agree, charmel, but Mike and Nellies isn't a large operation. While they should make sure that the food is the same every night, this is not the case with many restaurants. Mike is there on the busy nites, ie Saturday, etc.
Try the chicken or veal francese. Its out of this world. Its so good that I will never order it in any other restaurant, since nowhere else has compared to the way Mike does it.
I don't even think of Mike and Nellies as a steak house. Sure, they offer steak. But that's not there specialty, IMHO.
Mike and Nellies- Owner Mike just doesn't care about his customers! Don't go here.
I've been to Mike and Nellies many times and have always enjoyed the chicken or veal francese ( their specialty) but have never ordered the steak. I have also heard that its better to go when Mike is doing the cooking. Its a family owned place, so the quality in the kitchen probably varies depending on whether Mike is there or not. Its still a great choice in the area and a BYOB. I'll be back again for the francese dishes.

Dinner in Red Bank Tonight
Lots of good choices in Red Bank, but Dish is BYOB and has great food. I learned about Dish a few years ago. The chef is the son of the receptionist where I get my hair cut.
Many other good choices in Red Bank. Another great choice that is under the radar is the Oyster Point Hotel. Great views of the river ( near Molly Pitcher) and VG food. Tell them Scrappy sent you.
Great Steakhouse in central Jersey for a big birthday....
Another vote for Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick. Nice atmopsphere and great steaks. Let them know its a special occasion when you reserve.
Burgers Near Red Bank
A 2nd vote for Basil T's. They are served on an Enflish muffin along with great fries and good microbrewed beer. If you join the mug club there you get discounted brews and food specials twice a week including the burgers every Sunday.
Best Grilled Cheese in Central Jersey?
Let's up the ante here with some real grilled cheese sandwiches. I've had one at the Ferry Terminal in San Francisco that looked just like this one:

Looking for a place for a cocktail this evening
I recommend the Mill in Spring Lake. A nice lounge overlooking the lake and $ 5 premium martinis that begins at 4PM. Half price appies as well. Click on the happy hour box in the lower right corner of the website.

Meat in Ocean/Monmouth County
Good call on Sabatos at the Junction. They also have great foot long hot dogs along with foot long rolls. I may stop in for some this weekend.

We've always been very happy with Citarellas in Red Bank.

Trader Joe's to open in Monmouth Co
I went to the TJ's in West Windsor last year and was sort of dissappointed. Small store, very crowded, pretty expensive, limited selection.
Where's the Beef ?
Jersey Shore Homemade Ice Cream?
Not on the Shore, but Halo Farms in Trenton has always been Numero Uno for me. Very rich and with plenty of flavors by the pint or half gallon. Its worth the drive if you're in CNJ.

Atlantic City
Wife and I went to Knife and Fork for lunch. We just had sandwiches ( very good) but a couple sitting near us had the salmon, which looked great. Apparently the salmon is a great choice for lunch there. Think it was $ 15-17, but looked terrific.
Atlantic City
My fave at the Borgata is Wolfgang Pucks. They have a tavern area where the food is more casual and a fine dining area where the food is more upscale. I liked the steaks there more than I did at Bobby Flays.
