Anyone eaten at DBGB yet?

Went this weekend with 8 friends. Tried a few of their dishes. Overall my opinion (and the consensus of most of my friends) was:

LOVED the following:
Vermont & Beaujolaise sausages
Piggie Burger
Yankee Burger
Kreik Beer-Cherry dessert

MEH-ed the following:
Octopus La Plancha
Steak Frites (10 oz. Ribeye)
Frenchie Burger
Duck & Cherries

The decor was nice. Numerous chefs gave the place their favorite copper pots/cookware which is on display with their name all around the restaurant towards the ceiling. The best part was meeting Daniel himself. Super nice and genuine. Even took pictures with me and my friends! My friend who works at Food&Wine spoke with him for 15 minutes in French and he did not seem rushed or anything.
I forget what beers and other appetizers, entrees and desserts were ordered/I tasted but I'd definitely go back. It was a good time.

True. It was more the atmosphere that was fun than the food. :)

Just went this weekend (3/28/09) and had a good time. Order the chicken Satay skewers-they're heavenly!!! We also ordered the Beijing Chicken-really good, the SeaBass-Good, and the Crab and Pork dumplings-my friend is an expert on them said they were ok/not worth having again. Liked our table and service. Sercan O. (our waiter) rocks!

Silly Eating Habits

It's so strange. I never knew until reading another thread earlier today and hearing it again from you that bananas have 3 lengthwise sections to them! I assume that when looking straight at one end of a banana (after the tip has been sliced off) the walls of the 3 sections form a Mercedes Benz like symbol?

I also love uncooked pasta! I love to grab a small group of sticks of of spaghetti and bite them from one end to the other kind of like Bugs Bunny eats a carrot. Ehhh... What's up Doc?
Oh, and on the topic of pasta, I also like raw Ramen noodles.

I love those donuts especially for those rounded cube-like nuggets on top! I often just pick those off, eat them, and give the rest of the donut to my hubby.

Kefi also had a wonderful brunch menu. Went there this past Sunday around noon with 2 friends. No wait. Yummy Greek Eggs Benedict and my friend wouldn't shut up about her salad with fennel in it (I forgot to note exactly which salad it was, unfortunately, as I, too, liked it.) I'm going to Gennaro tonight. Will report later.

Didn't end up going anywhere to dine since we ate at the fest. It was just like the past two years but warmer. Music, food, and beer. Blah.

Advice for first time traveler to Cannes/ Cote d'Azur

We went to LOU CIGALON too. A few years ago we sat inside. Last year we sat outside. My parents much preffered inside because of the bugs and a few cats loitering around for food. The presence of a street entertainer also made them uncomfortable for a good portion of the meal. I admit, she made me uncomfortable, but I didn't mind the cats! Our meals have always been good there though.

I also thought this Moroccon place in the old town of Valbonne was great. It was called LA PIGEOT. Great tagine and couscous.

Advice for first time traveler to Cannes/ Cote d'Azur

My parents started taking me and my sister to this region for two weeks during the summers when I was 12 (she was 3.) I am now 29 and have been 7 times. The last time we were there my husband came with us and it was August 2008. We always stay in a villa in this private community called Castellaras. The French Riviera is my favorite place to be in the world other than my hometown NYC! The following are some of our favorite places to eat and things to do. Hope this helps. Sorry some of the sites are in French only.
Have fun!

For food:

TETOU in Golfe Juan for bouillabaisse. Note:they don't accept credit cards.

MOULIN DE MOUGINS. http://www.moulindemougins.com/

LE FEU FOLLET in Mougins.

DANIEL DESAVIE in Valbonne. http://restaurantdanieldesavie.com/fr/haut.htm

THE BEACH CLUB at the CARLTON (INTERCONTINENTAL) in Cannes is fun for people watching and has an ok buffet.

To do/see:
Go to the FORVILLE MARKET in Cannes for fresh local produce. Note: Mondays it is a flea market.

FONDATION MAEGHT in St. Paul de Vence. http://www.fondation-maeght.com/

FRAGONARD perfumery/factory in Grasse. http://www.fragonard.com/parfums_grasse/GB/fragonard/grasse/

BEST BAGELS IN NYC

I grew up on the Upper West side 3 blocks from Zabars. I loved their bagels especially around St. Patrick's Day because they added green food coloring to the dough. But, recently I heard they got their bagels from H&H. I could have sworn that Zabars made their own. Anyone know?

Anatolia, Boca Raton - Mediterranean

My husband, a few friends and I went there on New Year's Eve and the service was awful. We sat outside which was nice but nothing special. The hummus was pretty tasty. We had asked our waitress how big the salad was and she said it was a perfect sized appetizer for one person. It arrived an hour later and was enormous! 3 of us shared it. Our entrees came a half hour later. I had a gyro which was so-so. My husband had chicken kebab with yogurt. Not technically a kebab on a stick. It's chunks of chicken and bread in a yummy red sauce with a dollop of yogurt on top. That was good. My hubby thought it had too much bread. My friend had the same with beef instead of chicken and loved it. We spoke to the manager about the slow service and huge salad and expected her to deduct something from the bill but that didn't happen. We weren't going to return but my hubby and I had to last weekend. We went with his parents (they really wanted to try it.) This time all was perfect. We sat inside next to the sitar? player and he played at the perfect volume. They really redeemed themselves. The first night we were there was just hectic because of New Years. So, to sum things up, I would recommend it.

Need Boca Raton and Delray Beach Dining Recs.

Hey Ben-
I am from NYC (born and raised!) and have been living in Boca and now Delray for 6 years. I miss the city desperately especially for the plethora of restaurants but my hubby and I try to make the best of what's offered down here. Some of our faves are:

Morimoto at the Boca Resort. Then go 20 feet across the lobby to Serendipity for dessert!
Chops Lobster Bar in Boca.
Matteo's in Boca (it's a small chain from NY!)
Taverna Kalamata in Boca (located in the old Matteo's.)
New York Prime steakhouse in Boca.
The Melting Pot fondue restaurant in Boca. (Yes, it's a chain but this is one of the nicest locations and always a fun experience.)
La Bamba in Delray for Mexican and Spanish. Cheap but good. Mon. and Tues. they offer $1.99 margaritas!
Tramonti Ristorante in Delray.
La Cigale in Delray.
The Station House Restaurant in Lake Worth for lobster. (We'll be there tomorrow for Valentine's Day dinner!)
Taboo in Palm Beach.
Cafe Boulud is good- I was there last year for a rehearsal dinner so I didn't get to choose my meal though. I don't think I liked it as much as Daniel (now Cafe Boulud) or DB in NYC.
