Sotto Cinque, Ariba Ariba, Heidelberg or Bella Cucina

10 people for a 30th Birthday party, we're doing a scavenger hunt at the MET and need a place to go for dinner after. Narrowed it down to this last based on the criteria of under $40 pp. Thoughts? Want something fun, where we're not squished in and can have some fun. Thanks!

Birthday dinner near the Metropolitan Museum for 7 people, Square Meal?

Hi all -- Been asked to find a dinner spot for about 7 people to celebrate a 30th birthday. We're doing a scavenger hunt in the Met and want a place for dinner that we can walk to from there. Looking for something under $40 per person, no sushi or Indian. Someone recommended Square Meal but they don't take reservations for more than 6, any other ideas?

Rough week, need good food, better drinks, don't mind spending a lot

Going out with a few friends tonight, men and women, we've all had a rough week. Would love some place with an outdoor area or at least doors open onto the street. Open to neighborhood but prefer something below 42nd street. Pitchers of margaritas or sangria wouldn't hurt either.

Robert at Museum of Arts & Design

Has anyone been? Do you recommend it? I'm taking out my mom and dad for my mom's 70th birthday on Friday night. I currently have a reservation at the Porter House but wondering if this is a better choice -- the prices are definitely better! My parents are very conversative and traditional and I'm worried that Robert may be too flashy and loud for them. Thoughts?

Mom's 70th Birthday, something traditional and classy for dinner

It's mom's 70th birthday, she's a true Irish woman so nothing too fancy and needs to have a steak on the menu for my dad. Would like to keep entrees below $25, thoughts?

Hoboken Lunch Gems?

Any thoughts on El Barrio Burritos?

Hoboken Lunch Gems?

Thanks all, this is great! I'm going to try some of these this week. The truck on Newark is called "Ali's Fast Cooking", I highly recommend it if you're in the area and need something fast, fresh and cheap. I've heard about the Taco Truck and have been looking out for it, their website doesn't do a great job of letting you where they're going to be.

Hoboken Lunch Gems?

I live in Manhattan but am in Hoboken for the next 2 weeks taking a class. Looking for the hidden lunch gems. La Isla is probably the best restaurant in Hoboken but I'm hoping to find some others. There's also a truck parked on Newark Street, right near the PATH that has great lunch basics at ridiculously low prices. Anything else worth checking out??

Two Buck Chuck

Yea, there's no discount for buying by the case, I guess they can't give it away for free!

Campagnola OR Heidelberg -- Last Meal on UES

Moving out of the UES after 5 years of living here and want to have one last good meal with my roommate. Would like to go to a place we've never been and always wanted to go -- Campagnola, Heidelberg and Elaines made the list. We eliminated Elaines based on cost and bad reviews. Which one would you recommend? We're looking for good food and a nice atmosphere, it will be an early weeknight so crowds shouldn't be a concern. Thanks in advance for your help!

Lunch Specials on the Upper East Side

Since I lost my job I've been checking out all the lunch specials on the UES. I've been to all the Indian buffets (which are pretty good) but looking for some more variety and for under $10. Suggestions...

Anyone been to Porterhouse for restaurant week (dinner)?

Going tonight, wanted to get an idea of what the restaurant week menu was like.

just got laid off, now where am I going to eat?

I'm still too lazy to cook so I'll be looking for inexpensive dinner spots, any neighborhood in the city. Primarily american, italian or french. Entrees less than $15.

Primehouse New York or Blue Water Grill

I have a gift certificate for BR Guest restaurants and have narrowed it down to Primehouse or Blue Water Grill. I'm going for dinner with a friend, just looking for a great meal and nice atmosphere. Which would you recommend?

5 years in Chelsea, need new lunch options

Been working across the street from Chelsea Market for 5 years and am desperately seeking new spots for lunch. I've had everything in Chelsea Market a million times, same with Balducci's, Westside market, Paradise Cafe and Due Amici. Looking for a place that has decent sandwiches, salads etc. Please help! Thanks.

Finally found a decent, inexpensive restaurant near Penn Station

I'm pretty excited, I've been searching for a nice, reasonably priced dinner spot in walking distance from Penn Station. I wanted something that wasn't a bar serving food and not a fancy steakhouse. So last night I stumbled upon Mario's Trattoria on 9th Avenue between 37th and 38th. Its nothing spectacular but good food (entrees from $11-17) and nice service. I recommend it if you're meeting up with someone who needs to catch a train.

Inexpensive dinner near Penn Station

Looking for an inexpensive dinner -- under $15 entrees -- preferably American, Italian or French in walking distance from Penn Station. Any suggestions??

Panorama Cafe -- What Happened??

Does anyone know what happened to Panorama Cafe on 2nd/85th. It was such a great brunch spot and it closed up a few months ago and has now opened as a different place. I'm crossing my fingers that they have relocated, does anyone know?? Good brunch is hard to find on the Upper East Side!

Milk and Cookies -- Make Your Own?

Has anyone been to Milk and Cookies on Commerce Street? I've heard that you can make your own cookies there. Is it a fun place to go with friends? Also open to other suggestions for places to have an interactive food experience, thanks!

Stanton Social-ish

Looking for a place similar to Stanton Social, fun atmosphere, good for a group, not stuffy. Food -- American or Italian, open to any neighborhood.

Birthday dinner with the girls -- Stanton Social, Bar Pitti or Il Bagatto

Going out with a group of 5 to celebrate a 27th birthday. Want to go somewhere fun where we can have a good time, be loud and not be rushed out. Narrowed the list down to these, would love to hear any preferences.

Craving banana bread in Chelsea

In the mood for a slice of banana bread, preferably close to my office on 8th and 15th, any suggestions?

best of... in a day [Moved from Manhattan board]

You have to go to J. G. Melon's for a burger -- 3rd Ave & 74th. Best burger in NYC.

Tout Va Bien or Becco?

Going to dinner Friday night before heading to Caroline's. I haven't been to either restaurant, looking for something low-key, good food and fun atmosphere. Which one do you recommend?

El Cid for drinks?

Is there a decent bar at El Cid for 2 people to sit at for a few drinks? If not, any recommendations in the Chelsea area?

Chelsea standards

Taza Del Oro (8th/15th) has one of the best bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches in the city. The sandwich shoppe on Greenwich Avenue probably has the best turkey sandwich in the area, although thats probably technically the West Village. I've been working in Chelsea for almost 4 years, can anyone recommend any other great sandwich joints?

Samalita's on 1st Ave/87th Street?

I see that there is a Samalita's opening soon on the corner of 1st and 87th, anyone know what kind of place its going to be? Its say a "California Restaurant" on the awning. I'm hoping its something good!

Bar Pitti for lunch?

has never been there, was thinking about going for lunch. is it more a dinner place or worth checking out?

Dinner around 24th and 6th

Going to the cutting room this Friday on 24th and 6th Avenue. Looking for a good dinner place close by. Nothing fancy, preferably American or Italian. Would love any suggestions.

"Fun" dinner place on UES?

Looking for a fun place to go with friends on the UES for dinner. Similar to Mustang Grill, not too quiet or upscale. Any ideas?
