Fried Oysters, anybody?

Wow everyone, thanks for the many replies. So far, I'm leaning to Blue Plate Oysterette, which I didn't even know existed, so that is an exciting find! But also considering the Gulfstream as it is mid-city and easier for my friends to get to. I had forgotten about the Reel Inn, another great tip. Thanks again.

By the way, I called the Water Grill and they said they actually couldn't help out a pregnant lady with her special request b/c they don't have the ability to fry anything! They were very nice about it, though. Interesting.

Fried Oysters, anybody?

Where in the LA area (westside, Hollywood, downtown?) can you get good fried oysters? I love oysters, but I'm pregnant and can't eat raw oysters for another 5+ months (so sad). My birthday is tomorrow. I thought The Water Grill downtown would be a sure thing, but they don't have fried oysters on the menu. We had some leads on divey soul food joints with fry oysters, but nothing upscale and appropriate for a birthday dinner.

Just curious. Any help is appreciated!

Taco Trucks?

PLEASE pass on info on the trailer bbq. That sounds like a great back up plan. I really appreciate your help! The date is quickly approaching!!!

Taco Trucks?

Thanks for the info. This is depressing considering I wanted to hire a taco truck for my wedding and got shot down by my mother-in-law, then wanted to hire a taco truck for the baby shower, and again shot down by mother-in-law, and now I'm hosting my daughter's first birthday party at my house and was planning to take matters into my own hands and finally hire a taco truck.

I know about the concept of a taco bar--may just have to go that route, but it's not quite the same and you miss the photo op (and I'm a photographer.)

I will post again when I do more research.

Taco Trucks?

My favorite taco truck is on the east side, on York Ave in Highland Park. They have a melt-in-your mouth, flavorful pastor taco.

I want to hire a taco truck for a party in early March, but the truck mentioned above is stationary!! It cannot move, it's a permanent location.

Does anyone have any recommendations for really good, well made tacos in a taco truck that I could hire to come to my party?
