Lunch on the Water in Bonaire?

I replied but the post is gone (??)....go to Hang Out Bar at Sorobon. Watch the windsurfers and have a seaside table with divine salads and sandwiches.

Squire White's in Worcester

Super cheap prices, cute little place in a strip mall. The waitress was a little funky but VERY sweet and attentive. The food was pretty darn good. I had haddock with crisp delicious veggies and some sort of major fattening decadent mashed potatoes. I did ask for the chef to go light on the butter. It was a perfect fresh piece of fish. I ate a 1/3 of my plate. With tip and a ginger ale my share was 14.00 !! We saw my friend's band, The Invaders play after. A super cute spot and a fun vibe.

Fin Cape Cod

I went back after almost a year. This time, I went with Ciclista. We sat at the bar to start and were served by very friendly very efficient bartender, Tina, formerly at Brewster Fish House. The bar was rather loud and I had a headache so we were graciously accommodated upstairs. We both chose apps, the same salad, a delicious green salad with a little bundle of filo wrapped baked brie. It was pure ambrosia. Ciclista chose the tuna tartare and I had the crabcake. She loved her dish. Mine was very nice as well but a really tiny portion of crabcake The sweet mousse was little too sweet. Overall the plate was very tasty but a disappointment with the portion size. On the opposite side of the spectrum, my panne cotta was a huge portion and was light and luscious. My friend loved her chocolate dessert. I had a bite and it was scrumptious. I cannot wait to go back to try more. It was very quiet upstairs compared to my last visit, but then again there were only 3 tables. Our upstairs waitress was amazing.

Captain's House in Chatham, MA- High Tea

My daughter and I went to Captain's House for High Tea ...today was actually Holiday High Tea. My daughter and I were here a few years back. We enjoyed the great weather by heading to Chatham. After poking around in some stores and then headed for our 2 PM reservation. The entire inn is decorated brightly for the holidays. High tea was served in the conservatory. It was warm and bright with lovely views of the gardens with roses in bloom in Nov.

The tea was 18.00 pp. The three tiers featured savory sandwiches, scones and sweets plus a dish of homemade English trifle. We loved the mushroom pasties and the Branston Pickle and English Cheddar sandwiches. The trifle was delicious. We packed all of the cakes and cookies for my daughter to take back to college as we were full. Oh the pots of tea were delicious. I appreciated that they were decanted and hot and steaming.

It's a charming spot. I highly recommend this for a perfect Holiday High Team on Cape Cod.

Carmela's in Kingston

We stopped in last minute after my 24 hour trip home from Bonaire. My daughter and I were craving Italian so Yelped where to go..we hit it well. Thanks everyone for the great tip. The place was packed tonight but we scored a deuce in the bar to watch VA Tech slaughter VA. To the food, I had the eggplant parm and my daughter had the seafood Fra Diavolo. We loved both and had a full half portion each to bring home. The portions are massive! Oh the bread..amazing with great EVOO dipping and great olives. I had a glass of Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio. The bill was 44.00 before tip. Oh, they have a funny valet.

Ceres Bistro - Worcester

Gramma and I went for Thanksgiving dinner. In short the service was abysmal and the food mediocre. We had to fetch our own silverware after waiting so long our soups were cold. Mom's food was cold and her turkey pink. Overall and utter disappointment.

Caesar Salad

what constitutes a great Caesar Salad..for me good anchovies and a non egg dressing as well as homemade garlicky croutons...I know sort of un Caesar like. What makes 111 Chophouse so great please? Gramma lives there so I can go visit and try that spot. I LOVE Caesar Salads.

Ricciardi's in New Bedford

We had an early supper at Ricciardi's in New Bedford. The setting is typical American Italian. There was a fireplace in the middle and the vibe was cozy. The wall decor is slightly tacky but who cares, the thin crust pizza light cheese with fresh mushrooms was delicious. My date's chicken, broccoli and penne was really garlicky but a massive puddle of butter/oil saturated the bottom. It was a heart attack waiting to happen but one taste proved it was good. The bread was crusty and chewy and the waitstaff helpful and attentive. The bill was 25.00 with refills on soda, pizza and an entree. I'd go back.

New Bedford dinner and breakfast suggestions

I recommend you avoid Vasco de Gamma. I ate there last night. It was empty, not a good sign at 7:30 on a Sat. night. Our waitress was sweet. I asked what she recommended and went with her rec, the paella. My dining companion had the seafood platter. Our dishes were the same but mine had a soupy sauce on the rice. Both dishes featured old tasting clams (4), shrimp (4) and lobster in fact the claws on both plates were empty. The tail meat was stuck to the shell and inedible on his plate. DInner with coke, one wine and two entrees with 20% tip was 37.00. Thank goodness the company saved the dinner.

No Problemo in New Bedford

Had an early dinner Monday night. The setting is cute and the wait staff really nice. Music is loud but it works here. I ordered a veggie taco and sangria. The sangria was so so. I swear I did not taste any alcohol. It was just marginal and certainly not memorable. The veggie taco was fine, fresh veggies and a tiny bit of guacamole as I had requested. The chips were bagged red yellow and blue, salty and boring. The homemade chunky salsa was good. A cute spot that did not wow me.

Aruba Trip report 9/18-25/2010

What a great report.. What is Bati. I used to live on Bonaire and don't know it. Please try not to eat Grouper. It is not sustainable and also it is the only known predator to the evil Lionfish. The ABC islands are really seeing some weather.

Antonio's was good. No crowd, nice setting. We had Shrimp Mozambique for an app. Total garlic really nice. My entree I had two codfish cakes. They were sort of blah but ok. My friend had broiled seafood. It was lovely. I had water as I was driving but darn they had the Casal Garcia. Next time.

Wellfleet's Best Lobster Roll

I had a lobster roll at Moby Dicks in June..was not too impressed. I always favored Friendly Fisherman but have not been this year and won't likely. Mac's Seafood BTW has amazing sushi.

Looking for unique, local food in Bermuda

ML, I defer to the locals here to speak to this great question. I am a foodie and love local dining. Unlike the Caribbean what you are seeking is rather a challenge to locate. Bermuda local cuisine is a mixture of Caribbean, British and African influence. If you can experience a local Bermudian breakfast, go for it. For fish and a funky atmosphere, Dennis's Hideaway is a place to try. Island Cuisine had rockfish, mac and cheese and rice and peas. It was pretty good. If you seek a Caribbean local sort of experience, it really isn't going to happen. Let's see what Athena and BDW Chow say...they are in the know. One l favorite for tourists is the Bermuda Fish Chowder. It is made with saltfish, a Caribbean staple and is in a tomato broth. Make sure to put in some sherry peppers, in fact bring home a few bottles of Outeridges. Good stuff...

Anguilla trip report, longish

Love the report, short and sweet. You chose some amazing settings. Will have to try Barrel Stay next time in June. Was there music at Dune? We typically go there Sundays. Speaking of music did you go to any spots to hear local sounds and lastly any amazing desserts? On my list for June:
Jacala
Trattoria Tremonte
SandBar and now maybe Barrel Stay

Lyric in Yarmouthport

Inaho the sushi restaurant is always packed. The last time at Lyric we too noticed an older crowd at the bar, rather loud but having fun. They came early and left early. I have been dining at this location since the Cranberry Moose days. We shall see how things unfold. Am off Cape all summer so keep me posted.
