I hate to break it to you gansu girl but most restaurants that rely on doing volume will have a similar policy (especially on a Saturday night!)...they just won't tell you that. If you were to book a table for 8 people at 7pm, the restaurant will only be able to use the table once. If you come in at 6pm there might be a chance that they may be able to use it at 8:30/9:00. You may not like to hear it but unfortunately it's the truth at most restaruants on a Saturday night.
Where can I find Demi Glace
I once found demi glace in a small 3oz container at a whole foods but have seen any in a while. Anyone knows where I may find some in Boston?
Favorite new world cab francs?
I have read through all the responses to the original post and I am very surprised nobody has mentioned Larkin. The last two vintages that I have tasted 04 and 05 have been absolutely incredible (06 is being released soon I hear). The wine has incredible concentration with out being overly extracted, alcohol is balanced and the wine has incredible elegance. Check out their website: http://www.larkinwines.com/
Certainly not at the bottom of the food chain in terms of price, but well worth the money.
DOM restaurant-Sao Paulo Brazil
I will be in Sao Paulo for one day and one night. I know there are some wonderful restaurants but it seems as if DOM is the place to try. I read a recent post about Sao Paulo restaurants with some great suggestions, but was wondering if there were any other opinions about DOM.
Visiting Mercado Munipal is on the list as well, anything else that should not be missed given the one day I'll have.
