"Fun" Anniversary Dinner (not elegant)

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary by dining at the Bouchon Bakery in the Time Warner Center. They have a fairly light dinner menu. The lobster mac and cheese was great! (The chicken soup starter was also amazing!) I had two glasses of sparkling wine. The servers there have also been really good every time I've been. The view of columbus circle and down the park can't be beat and it was a fun, low-key way to celebrate!
Congratulations!

Help me find cheese bread

I was in Madison, WI once for a wedding and went by the farmer's market to discover a wondrous wonder of a loaf--Stella's Cheese Bread. It's a soft almost Challah-like bread with clumps of spicy cheese baked in... Madison is far, but I sometimes dream of moving there just for that damn bread!

Best *Whole Wheat* Pizza

I love City Pie. They have whole wheat crust by the slice sometimes, and I know you can order a pie of it. 72nd and Amsterdam--definitely worth checking out (imho)!

Best place for a group birthday dinner?

Not moderately priced, necessarily, but I've hosted fun group bday dinners at both locations of Churrascaria Plataforma. Fun atmosphere, drinks, huge salad bar, and meats...

Dinner after Letterman - Monday

What about Hell's Kitchen? Great food, cozy, "NY loungey" atmosphere... I love it.

West Midtown Margaritas

Dined at Arriba Arriba last night pre-theater (we got last minute tickets, and had no reservations anywhere else). At best I would say the food here was "decent". It has your standard "Mexican" (american version) dishes. I didn't think my margarita was great, but I usually upgrade to a premium tequila and forgot to ask the waiter, so the tequila was house to begin with. The music was loud, but fun. I wasn't displeased with my experience here, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit again, with so many other great places in the neighborhood. (Last time I was at El Centro, I particularly enjoyed the chilaquiles... but it's been awhile, so I can't quite compare adequately..)

Daisy May's - sides?

The corn was weirdly good. I couldn't stop eating it (and I'm not that into corn!). And the sweet potatoes are awesome. (Didn't have room for cream spinach.)

Good ethnic food near Columbia Presby on W 168TH?

Try El Malecon (Dominican food) on Bway and 175th--rotisserie chicken is incredibly tasty and the pork mofongo is good.

Help! Revisiting Madison for Pancake and spicy cheese bread

Hope this isn't too late. Is the pancake place you're thinking of Mickey's Dairy Bar? (Not sure exactly where it is, but I did once have a pancake bigger than my face there...)
