Recipe Request: Good "GRILLED" Fish Recipe For Use W/George Foreman
Help!
There are SO MANY fish recipies that I was hoping that someone could make a recommendation... I like grilled/smoked fish (as in on the charcoal Green Egg) but am not always able to fire up the charcoal grill.
Can anyone recommend a marinade / rub / spice mix to put on fresh fish (non salmon) that I can then cook on our George Foreman grill that will approxmiate the flavor or fish on the charcoal grill?
BTW, store-bought is fine if you know of a brand that is good.
The George Foreman is great for quick meals and the "health" factor can be real high if I have the right ingredients. Grilled fish is something that I'd like to eat more of heading into the new year...
So... Does anyone have any proven recipes/tips? I tried a few things but couldn't come up with that "just off the charcoal grill/smoked" flavor.
Thanks in advance!
Doug
PS Found one for a Cajun approach, but I'm NOT looking for Cajun: http://www.georgeforemanrecipes.com/archives/cajun-style-catfish/
Denver: Found a gem - great Bánh mì - Vietnamese sandwiches
I believe that they did have the Pate on the menu but I didn't try it.
las vegas trip
Yeah, one of the restaurants showcased was "The Egg & I" which is a chain - several here in Denver. So you can skip that one.
Anyone been to Cantler's near Annapolis?
Man I miss this place. Moved from the Annapolis area to Colorado about 5 yrs ago and haven't been back to visit. Used to stop by Cantler's for a dozen or two raw oysters and a bowl of their delicious MD Crab Soup at least once a week. Yum Yum. Wonder if Nona is till working there...
One other thing I loved there was their Oyster dish where you got 6 oysters baked in a metal serving dish with crabmeat. Forget what they called it but my heart is glad I moved.
Denver: Found a gem - great Bánh mì - Vietnamese sandwiches
I had tried these tasty mini-sandwiches before and had forgotten how good that they can be. While visiting my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Denver, New Saigon, I asked our waiter for a recommendation on where I can get these...
He said there was a place only one block up the street -- Baker's Palace @ 550 S Federal Blvd. I'm glad he recommended it because I never would have tried it otherwise. Not a place you'd stop without knowing it was there.
Boy was I glad that I did stop! I had the Combo Bánh mì and it was excellent. I posted a review of it on yelp:

I plan to go back and try other varieties. The owner said the Pork one was the most popular but they were out of it...
Has anyone else found great Bánh mì in Denver?
One to avoid in Colorado Springs - Black Bear Cafe
Wow, I passed by that place recently and almost stopped:

[PHX] Heart Attack Grill ... Anyone over 350 lbs eats for free all day long.
You keep being offended, me, I'm there next time I'm in Phx.
I need a BBQ caterer in Ft. Collins, CO
Strange, they (Albert P-BBQ) weren't even listed in Yelp let alone reviewed. I added them to the Yelp database but didn't review them.
I need a BBQ caterer in Ft. Collins, CO
These guys cater and everyone loves their food:

They are in Longmont but I'm sure they will come up to Fort Collins - about 30 minutes away.
Authentic Sichuan in Denver?
I'll be watching for replies as well. I have found the Chinese to be largely crap in Denver.
roadtrip to PIG OUT at St.Mary's in Tucson !
Wow, for being so good they haven't been reviewed on Yelp since 2007...

Have we talked Denver Restaurant Week yet?
My wife and I ate at Union Bistro in Castle Rock on Saturday night and they had a limited menu but it did include their signature double bone pork chop which was excellent. I had the salmon entree and it was also very good. Very good deal for $52.80.
Fratelli ristoranti in Colorado Springs
Sorry to hear about your experience.

Best Fried Chicken in Denver?
Yep, it's the same bland tasteless stuff served @ Castle Cafe. Bummer. The chicken @ White Fence Farms is much better.

Best Fried Chicken in Denver?
Ugh ... wish i would have realized Rocky Mountain Diner was part of the same chain as Castle Cafe in Castle Rock where I live. I've eaten @ Castle Cafe dozens of times and their Fried Chicken is OK but I always end up dumping hot sauce on it because it lacks flavor... Bummer, I've ordered the chicken and so we'll have to see.
ISO really good nachos: DEN
I thought the Nachos Supreme @ Grand Slam Sports Cafe on Arapahoe near I-25 were good...
Limelight, Prima or Panzano (Denver)?
Marco's is way over-rated... So many other good choices.
How is the Bellagio Buffet for dinner?
If you haven't been there for five years, then a lot may have changed. How is what happened five years ago relevant today in a restaurant recommendation?
Personally I won't even Yelp about a place if I haven't been there in the last three months. Things change.
PHX- Wicked Bakery closed
Why is that tacky? I support the idea of knowing the truth. Look at it this way ... if the bakery closed due to lack of business, that reflects badly on the owner. If the bakery closed for some other reason (like this one), then I want to know about it.
Best culinary lessons in Denver area?
Well I am happy to report that my cooking classes @ Indochine Cuisine were at the owners home. Now that they have moved into their larger space on Main Street in Parker, the cooking classes may take place @ the restaurant. The chef, Yume Tran, first demonstrated how to make the dish and then we each got a chance to make it. And when we were finished, we all go to try each others.
Denver: Restaurants with a 'neighboorhood' feel
To each his/her own. But the attitude and arrogance (of the staff) is so thick in this place that you can cut it with a knife. Personally, enjoying where I'm at and having a good time is just as important as the actual food. Placed like Beatrice & Woodsley's stress me out. YMMV.
Denver: Restaurants with a 'neighboorhood' feel
Here is one you will want to skip: Beatrice and Woodsley. Very over-rated and very unfriendly waitstaff/hostesses.
Asian Takeout? (Denver)
New Saigon has the best Vietnamese -- it's on Federal near Alameda. Closed Monday's...
Best culinary lessons in Denver area?
If you want to do something a little different, give them some cooking lessons for Thai and Vietnamese meals... Indochine Cuisine in Parker CO offers cooking classes and my wife and I have taken about a half a dozen... Great time and you get the actual recipes!
Carraba's
My wife and I loved Carraba's -- and sadly they closed their Park Meadows location in the Denver area... Now the closest Carraba's is more than twice as far... Bummer.
good asian in denver?
Best Asian in Denver is Vietnamese @ New Saigon on Federal. Right around the corner from Empress and Kings Land ... and MUCH better. Closed on Mondays.
Five Guys - eh
Tried Five Guys in Colorado Springs, CO -- I thought it was great ... Better than Fatburger.
Best Lunch Spot between Denver and Albuquerque (via I-25)
I love Amanda's Fonda in Colorado Springs - great Mexican -- and it's not far from Manitou Springs which would be a nice break from the drive.
