Do you roll the dough around the cream cheese or just intersperse it around the dough balls?

Does anyone know why Subway does not have ketchup in their restaurants?

I'm in CT, was a supervisor of a Subway in high school, and I know we had ketchup in our store (Colchester). The ones near me now in Norwich have it, too. People use it anywhere from their egg sandwiches, steak and cheese, tuna, and kids sandwiches.

Chopped: irritating aspects of

I still love the B&M raisin bread in a can sliced and spread thickly with butter.... it's so moist and slightly sweet... yum! And a great item to have just in case.

cooking chorizo

Yes, that's the exact consistency of Mexican chorizo. It needs to be removed from the casing, as it is usually made of plastic. It will firm up and form crumbles as it cooks.

Christmas vittles

My sister in Glasgow just had a belated "Friendsgiving" Turkey, and she said the turkey was way tastier than ones she was used to here. I asked her what kind it was, but she'd already tossed the packaging.

Favorite macaroni and cheese - bechamel or custard?

If the roux is cooked enough, it shouldn't be pasty...

Thanksgiving mishaps 2012

I have brined my kitchen floor/counters/breakfast bar stools thrice. Count 'em! Three times!! For the record, NONE of them were my fault, unless you count having someone help me as my fault, lol. He would always not pay quite enough attention and let go of part of the bag, and whooooosh!!!! TIDAL WAVE!!!!! So annoying.... not only all the salt/sugar water, but the herbs, the apple cider, the dried cranberries, the apples..... SUCH a mess!!

Top Chef Seattle - Ep. #3 - 11/21/12 (Spoilers)

I, too, was sad to see Kuniko go home so early, but I thought from the beginning that she might not have the.... toughness, to make it. Just too dang nice :/ I have to say though, I let out quite the laugh when Carla called Stefan crazy. I thought to myself... really?? HE'S crazy?? lol I thought it was funny, too, that Stefan lost cooking his OWN traditional dumplings... that HAD to hurt! OH and the comment about the foie gras stuffing... "Oh I'm SURE it was passed down generation to generation!"

Wow, so interesting! I can't say I've ever heard of that... what nationality's cuisine does that come from? Or is it just a family dish?

Sauerkraut and Turkey

huh. My family did the opposite: smoked kielbasa for Thanksgiving and fresh for Easter. I wonder if that means anything, lol

What did you have for lunch today Part 4

I have to admit a certain fondness for the so-called Singapore noodles, more specifically Singapore Mei Fun, from the local Chinese delivery. Mostly the rice noodles, scrambled egg, cabbage, celery, and scallions, with enough curry powder to make sure you notice..... with tender shrimp, chicken, and roasted pork. Perfect for late night eats :)

VEGAN THANKSGIVING

For my main dish, i'm making this

http://bitemevegan.blogspot.com/2011/...

I'm adding some more spices, like ground toasted coriander, and some frizzed sage leaves on top for serving.

Ways to use prepared horseradish? (Beyond beef and cocktail sauce!)

These are what I opened the thread to add :) I love it along with sour cream and butter in the mash. Really, anything, especially something creamy, where you want a bit of a bite :)
Also mixed with mayonnaise and (optional) dijon mustard as a sandwich spread. It's great with turkey and swiss cheese or cheddar.

ETA: Whoops, just read your OP where you already use it in sandwiches.... and no meat...sorry!

Late Thanksgiving Dinner?

We always have ours around 2. By the time everyone drives in, it's perfect. Lazy morning cooking and people filter in around noon to 1. Football and snacks, then dinner, then dessert, football, and wallowing :)

People who eat the food for sale in supermarkets - would you say something?

Just because it's built into their pricing structure does not mean it is right. Stealing is an unfortunately common occurrence. It is because it is common that it has to be accounted for. It's sort of like saying because doctors have malpractice insurance, that they are right to take risks... because it is taken care of.

Are You Snacking on Anything Right Now?

Dill, Sea Salt, and Olive Oil Triscuits with some fresh mozzarella. YUM :) I'm really finding the mildness of the cheese is going very well with the strong flavors of the Triscuits.
