"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll
*jaw drop*
I just can't believe this... My mom would have to watch us like hawks when we went strawberry/blueberry/raspberry picking to ensure that most of the berries ended up in the buckets! lol.
What did you have for lunch today?
I made a shell "caprese" last night. Normally shells are one of my least favorite types of pasta, but my grocery store had some mini bocconcini that were about the same size as the shells. Soooo I added some halved grape tomatoes, the bocconcini, and some fresh basil pesto to the hot shells for a tasty dinner. Leftover cold today was the perfect lunch for studying chemistry outside in the hot sun :)
fiddleheads at trader joe's [moved from Washington DC & Baltimore board]
I never can seem to find enough to get bored of the sautéing them, but i'll def try this next spring, as I LOVE LOVE LOVE roasted asparagus!

thanks for the tip!! I do love me some fiddleheads
[Mystic] Flood Tide
I live about 20 min from Flood Tide, and I've been meaning to go there forever!! It's kinda sad that someone from across the pond made it there first, but at least now I know the quality hasn't lagged... Thank you Harters!!

I lightly sauté them in olive oil with garlic, red pepper flakes and salt. I buy bags of them for as long as the store has them!!

Isn't the T (dry) toast, though? I was a long time sufferer of the BRAT diet growing up.... ::shudder::
ETA: Got a big ol' bowl (one of those oreo cereal bowls you could send away box tops for) of honey nut cheerios and cold cold skim milk. Perfect for Game of Thrones watching :)
Why should I buy tilapia?
My initial thought was: Why would you want to? I know a lot of people like it because it is so mild (tasteless to me), and it's cheap. Personally think it's a waste of (the small amount) money. I definitely get the muddy flavor as the ONLY flavor, so I avoid it. But ymmv
What else can I brulee besides creme brulee?
Love your screen name... love the movies!
Tricks you figured out in the kitchen and thought 'good one'!!!
I've never actually had it... I imagine it's not as cohesive and perhaps less flavor?
grilled pork sandwich ideas?
Tiger sauce is a bottled hot sauce that you can buy at the grocery store.

I saw this on French Food at Home with Laura Calder. She called it the French way to make rice.
What did you have for lunch today?
Polar Diet Orange Dry chugged out of the bottle... I was reading outside in the sun on the back deck and needed hydration. Edamame with spicy ginger/garlic/soy dipping sauce. A spoonful (or two) of Biscoff spread. I bought it thinking I'd like it on toast or english muffins, but it is best in its natural form. On a spoon.

Same here. Late 80s kindergarten? no. Girl Scouts? several times.
Help with gift of grapes
The focaccia is also great with just grapes and rosemary, also with some shallots added.
ETA: I should have read further down thread, where HillJ mentioned the rosemary.... ah well.
Keller and Aduriz's Controversial Comments
That is how see what he's saying, and I tend to agree. They feel their job is to put out the best food they can, and if that means the oysters have to travel, then so be it. The customer can show their choice with their feet.
"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll
The only raw carrots I like are the TRUE baby carrots. None of those "cut baby carrots" will pass my lips, EVER. Even the bigger of the baby carrots still have that center core that I refuse to eat. However, if it is a big ol' carrot, once roasted/steamed/whatever I will love it....
"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll
I love "kung pao" whatever...... except when it is full of green bell pepper chunks. I want to like gbp because it is in so many dishes that I like, but all my efforts are to no avail.

This conversation is hilarious to me. When I was in France as a high school student, but roommate half woke up and asked me how to say "I bathe myself in grapefruit juice" in French. That phrase has stuck in my head since!
je me lave dans le jus de pamplemousse. :)
"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll
The only one I can come up with after wracking my brain and reading these posts is green bell peppers. Just never liked em, especially when they're cooked.I have issues with the strings in celery, but if it's estranged or part of the heart, I love it.

I prefer my food beetle free, thank you :-P

mmm That sounds like a pretty tasty addition.... I think the fact that I originally typed "tasty addiction" instead of addition should tell you all you need to know! lol
What did you have for lunch today?
Both this lunch and your lunch from yesterday sound amazing... I've got a bad case of lunch envy.
Are You Snacking on Anything Right Now?
I just opened a can of Dole pineapple tidbits and am alternating between stabbing chunks and slurping the juice, right from the can :)

Thanks! I'm so proud of her! She turns 50 this year, too so it's a big year for her, lol. I brought her a dish of the mac and cheese that I'd topped with some cheesy breadcrumbs so it was all set to bake for her dinner tonight.
Dinner party activities?
They actually sell a version of this game (no dictionary required) that I've played with my friends, and you're right... hilarity ensues!
