A baked chicken and broc with cheese sauce that I was cooking for me and my two roommates, one night when I was 17; a plumbing emergency flooded our kitchen and whole first floor with hundreds of gallons of ice-cold water. After we swept out as much of the flood as we could, I finished cooking. We ate it with hands that were waterlogged and numb; no hot meal since has ever been so desperately welcome and needed.
