Amani's in Downingtown

I just wanted to give two enthusiastic thumbs up for this place. We went a couple of weeks ago, and enjoyed the tasting menu. The food was great and the staff was very accomodating. They had a nice touch on BYO as well, fully stocked mixer bar and trained bar tenders, just bring your own splits of alcohol for martinis, mixers, etc.

Certified Angus Burgers Chester County

A new "gourmet" burger place is opening in Downingtown next to firecreek (intersection of RT30 and 322). I haven't been yet, I'm not sure if they're open yet, but the potential is there for them to do a nice job.

Allergy Conscious Eateries in the Delaware Valley

I have a friend with Gluten allergies who loves Green Papaya in Exton. This is a second hand recommendation, so take it for what it is worth, but he goes there a couple of times a week and always comes back happy.

Downingtown - last date before kids

If you need to be in Downingtown, Fiorvanti http://www.fioravantibyob.com/ or Alegria http://www.allegria-pa.com/ are my recommendations. If you can venture a little outside D-town, there are a number of excellent options in West Chester, Malvern and the surrounding area. In West Chester:
High Street Caffe www.highstreetcaffe.com/
Avalon www.avalonrestaurant.net/
Gilmore's www.gilmoresrestaurant.com/
are three of my favorites.

If you'd like someplace a little less formal, 4 dogs tavern www.thebrandywine.com/dine/fourdog/four_dog_tavern.html in Marshalton has a great old chester county atmosphere, decent food with a lot of comfort.

There is always Birchrunville in Chester Springs, but you probably won't get a reservation in the next two months. birchrunvillestorecafe.com/

chicken fingers?

By far the best chicken fingers I've had anywhere are at Fingers Wings and Other Things (FWOT) in Conshohocken. Absolutely Awesome with great honey mustard. http://www.fwot.com/
They are accross from the REI on Ridge Pike.

Oysters in the Suburbs?

Ludwigs Inn at 401 and 100 has good oysters too. Wednesday is buck a shuck night. Along with the oysters, their snapper soup, lobster bisque and key lime martinis are top notch.

The brickside grille in eagleview does oysters OK, but really isn't anything special

I agree with the Legal Seafood recommendation in KoP. Not too bad for a chain restaurant.

West Chester Cheesesteak???

Lorenzo's used to be my favorite as well. Where are they located now?

Okay, tough choice in Lansdale/Montgomeryville

What about Tex Mex Connection?

Need a suggestion for something different in the WC/Mainline/Phoenixville area

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. We got reservations at Restaurant Alba. It was absolutely excellent. We've added it to our short lists of restaurants to go back to soon.

Restraurant in Exton Area

Check Alegria. It is on RT 100 just before the intersection with 113. It is an excellent small Italian Restaurant with two dining rooms that each hold about 20 people.

Best Sushi in the Philly Burbs

Aoki in the Main Street shopping center in Exton, is our bet for decent sushi close to home. It's not flashy, or fancy, but it's always good.

I know a lot of people who like Kooma in West Chester. I'm not really one of them. I think the wanna-be club atmosphere and the good drinks way overpower the average sushi.

I also agree with the Samurai recomendation. It is my favorite Sushi place, but it's 30+ mins from West Chester

101 Bridge

We've alwasys had nice times at the Columbia, although we've only been in the spring and summer when you can sit out front on the patio. I've never eaten inside and I don't know how the atmosphere is.

Need a suggestion for something different in the WC/Mainline/Phoenixville area

Thanks all,

We narrowed it down to Marley's, Alba or Cosimo (http://www.cosimorestaurant.com/). Now the trick will be getting a reservation at one of them for around 7pm. Wish me luck.

Need a suggestion for something different in the WC/Mainline/Phoenixville area

Hi,

I'd like some suggestions for a Chesco area restaurant for (hopefully) tomorrow (Friday) night. We're going out with friends and really enjoy trying different restaurants. Some of our current favorites include: High Street Caffe, Alegria, 4 dogs tavern (our favorite comfortable place), Ludwigs (great snapper soup and $1 oysters on Wednesdays), the Columbia, the Black Lab, The Epicurian and the crepes place in Phoenixville, etc. We've also been to Twin Bays and Majolica with less than stellar results and Savona (favorite) and Birchrunville (wonderful), but would like something less pricey for tomorrow. Any recommendations would be appreciated. A couple of places we're considering are: Cosimo and the Black Lab, but would like other options.

Thanks in Advance,

Josh
