Best Pizza in Orlando?

Let me just say… bleh. The place smells like they're trying to hide something musty (and they most likely are) and the pizza itself is definitely garbage… similar to cardboard.

Best Pizza in Orlando?

Hey Thanks!

Well as for Chicago pizza, believe it or not I just found out today they have opened, and are opening more, Giordano's (one of the true Chicago staples) here in Orlando!

Best Pizza in Orlando?

I couldn't find a thread dedicated to compiling a list on this topic... so here we go.

Can't find good pizza in Orlando for the life of me. I'm always befuddled as to how "Pizza Hut" is able to make it anywhere in the top 10 in "best of lists" for our city.

If you like "NY" style pizza, the Anthony's empire and every other knockoff has mediocre pie, but I'm of the opinion that not all pizza has to be big and floppy.

Stallone's on Kirkman makes a good sicilian pie, probably the best I've had in Orlando.

Scampi's in Apopka on 436 also has a really good sicilian pie.

I've seen an "Indiana" style pizza place - Chubby's in Apopka - come and go... and Ledo Pizza from Maryland had an Altamonte location for a while which I liked alot... now closed.

But what else? Any true Chicago pizza out there? What bout a Buffalo/upstate NY style (medium thickness crust, lots of toppigs, etc)?

Looking forward to the suggestions and discussion...

That Perfect Hot Dog

Being in PA you should have access to Wegmans, which means you should have access to Sahlen's hot dogs, which are the pride of Buffalo/Western NY. Rated by those on and others as one of the top 5 dogs, especially on the grill.

Homemade hot dog buns

I am about to embark on a similar challenge, was going to try hand-formed first. The first recipe I'm going to try is this one:

Good luck, let me know how things turn out!

Winterpark for Lunch

Can't go wrong with the Briar Patch on Park Ave, and also Spice Steakhouse on Park Ave as well.

What is your city's specialty and why is it the best?

Gotta give a shout to Buffalo, even though I live in Orlando now.

Wings, of course.

But underrated is Buffalo pizza. It's a thicker crust than NYC (it doesnt flop) but not a Chicago deep dish. The sauce is usually a little sweeter, the pepperoni spicy. Lots of real, usually SLICED (not shredded) mozzarella cheese. Bocce pizza is one of the best examples to cite.

Orlando Recommendations!

Welp, if you are looking for casual, there's the Orlando Ale House, which is right across from Universal on Kirkman Road. They are known for their casual atmosphere but high quality, large portion food at reasonable prices.

A step up is the Palm at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal... awesome prime rib... awesome mushrooms :)

And Bill Wong's chinese buffet right down the street at the intersection of KIrkman and International is worth a trip... it definitely qualifies as touristy!

Excellent breakfast location called LePeep, it's in a strip plaza on the corner of Kirkman and Vineland.

Well those are the touristy spots I'd think of right off the bat... if you want something with more local personality, it's hard to find in that area, but if you have a rental car its not a far drive. ALso, almost all of the DIsney resort hotels have excellent restaurants to check out for all price ranges.

Looking for Best Chicken Wings in Orlando

I'm afraid I might be a little too late... but!

WIthout question, the best wings in Orlando are Flyers, located on Colonial Drive, near the intersection of Kirkman Road.

I'm originally from Buffalo and nothing else I've tried in this city even comes close to replicating the hometown best Duff's or Anchor Bar, Flyers is very close in Orlando.

It's not the fanciest place in terms of decor, but it does one thing and does it well: WINGS!

Best of luck!
