Need Recommendations : Visiting late-March/Early-April
For Nashville- try Monells. They have great southern fare and an amazing breakfast on weekends. The food is served family style and the tables are communal. Everything I've had there is wonderful- the skillet fried chicken and peach preserves are not to be missed.
Nashville: Lunch and Dinner recommendations
In the Green Hills area, I enjoy Firefly Grille- small, ever changing menu, funky interior, but homey and friendly at the same time. Enjoy....
Chattanooga, TN - Vegetarian
Whenever I go to Chattanooga, I try to visit The Meeting Place located in downtown Chat. Last time I was there (about 6 months ago) I took a vegetarian with me and the restaurant was very accommodating. They specialize in fresh local selections and I love the food, ambiance, location, etc. My vegetarian friend was thrilled with her food, but I think she was most impressed by the fresh fruit cobbler she had for dessert! Good luck.
Denison/Sherman Options?
One of my employees that work in Denison brought me some potato soup and cornbread from Kathleen's- YUM. By far the best thing I've eaten here. Thanks so much for the suggestion...
Denison/Sherman Options?
I tried the steak fajita's from La Mesa, and I was far from impressed. I have never understood why Mexican restaurants marinate fajita meat in soy sauce- it ends up tasting like stir fry. Still on the hunt for decent Mexican. I have 1 more week here...
Denison/Sherman Options?
Is it Devoli's (sp?). A few coworkers that live here have mentioned it...
Curry Leaves in Nashville
Thanks so much. I've seen the signage for the past few months- I work in Cool Springs. I'm thrilled that it's finally open. I'm out of town this week, but next week I'm there for sure. I'm so excited....
Best Breakfast in Nashville?
I like Copper Kettle across from Lipscomb. I've never been a big fan of breakfast buffets (aka- rubbery powdered eggs and hard biscuits) but Copper Kettle has a nice selection and a good mom and pop feel. I've not been impressed with Noshville on any of my visits. If a place is going to market itself as a Jewish Deli, why do serve pork? I LOVE the pig, but it just feels out of place at a "Jewish Deli". Provence has great pastries...
Curry Leaves in Nashville
You will have no problem finding Indian stuff in Houston- there are about a million Indian/Pakistani grocers around; most are concentrated around Hillcroft and Harwin in Southwest Houston. Enjoy the humidity! I'll head over to Nolensville Pike soon- thanks.
Indian Restaurants in Nashville
What is your favorite Indian restaurant in the Nashville area? I've only been to two so far (Sitar and Cuisine of India) and have not been impressed by either. Sitar was definitely better than Cuisine of India, but both were extremely bland (even after requesting a high heat level) and Cuisine of India was extremely greasy. Where SHOULD I be going?
Denison/Sherman Options?
I'm headed to the Denison/Sherman area this weekend for work. I'll be there Sunday-Friday for the next three weeks and I've not been able to come up with many food options, apart from the big chains. Anyone have any suggestions for dinner selections?
Curry Leaves in Nashville
Fantastic! I'll put it on the list...I have a new curry cookbook with many recipes I've been dying to try..
Road trip Atlanta to Nashville - via Baltimore and Louisville !
As it relates to brewpubs/microbrews in Nashville- ya gotta check out the taproom at the Yazoo brewery. It's open Thurs-Sat. until 8pm. They do tours of the brewery and have a few light snacks (local cheeses, yummy spiced pecans) on the menu. The owners and the crew are great and they have some of the best beer. Broadway Brewhouse is another favorite- great selection of beer, really knowledgeable bartenders and some surprisingly good food- not your normal pub grub. If you're into spicy (and I mean spicy) try the Mojo wings- out of this world. Have fun!
Curry Leaves in Nashville
Thanks Jay. I was thinking about that, although I kill just about everything I try to grow- I just threw away my rosemary Christmas tree yesterday and I'm staring at my Chia (don't laugh) herb garden slowly turn yellow and wither away in my window sill as we speak...
Curry Leaves in Nashville
I'll check again- I was there in December and had no luck- thanks!
Curry Leaves in Nashville
I've recently moved to Nashville from Houston and love to cook Indian Food. I've struggled to find curry leaves in Nashville. Can anyone help?
Nashville - post Valentine's day dinner
We love Flyte and City House, both of which are in the downtown vicinity. Both usually have a couple vegetarian offerings, and the menus change regularly based on what is in season and is local. Good atmosphere as well. Good Luck.
